Today is our departments moving day. When I get in to work, I'll need to disassemble all my computer equipment and pack it up as well as make sure all the contents of my desk that I won't need over the next couple of weeks are packed and ready to go. There are items that I will need to keep aside, as I will need them at this location.
Bonus side to all this, I won't have to set everything back up...my co-workers have volunteered to get that done for me. YAY.

Tonight, we are heading to St. Albert to my brother's place to get together with my aunt and uncle and a cousin that we haven't seen for far too many years. It will be nice to touch base once again. It won't be a late night as Garry and I have to work tomorrow, as well as my brother. But I'm sure it will be fun.

My Positives:
Moving day for our department is finally here. One step closer to be done with the move.
Gorgeous weather we are having...we are having nicer weather than we had in August and September.
Halloween candy is purchased and waiting for all the little ones to come knocking on the door. I miss the days of popcorn balls and puffed wheat cake. Such a loss of innocence in our society, all because of a few who thought it was funny to put dangerous things into children's Halloween fun.
I have a lovely greek salad already to take for lunch today. Low-cal dressing included.
Yay, it's Wednesday, half the work week is done! lol
All the blessings that come my way each and every day. From the quiet time first thing in the morning, to the smiles and greetings through out my day to a nice warm and comfy bed to crawl into at night.

Have a wonderfully blessed day. It's the little things that make the most impact.

Hugs,
Wanda

I hope you are making wonderful memories with family this evening. Sounds delightful. I had a nice day. (I'm going to go blog about it before I hit the hay.) I was missing you as I went around sparking this afternoon. And then I remembered, "have you read Wanda's blog today?" I didn't have time this morning. No wonder I was missing you! Thanks for your faithfulness in sharing the journey. It keeps me steady. Have a great sleep and I look forward to reports of you exciting move.
Love,

Later starting hours....

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

This week begins my later starting hours at work. For the next two weeks I will be starting later and working later. We need the coverage of hours during the transition and because I'm the person that gets to stay at the old location until the end of the month, I'm it.
I was still awake though at my usual time of 4:30 am, it felt strange to not be getting up. My body was ready to go.

Each week over a 6 week period, each department is suppling snacks for the staff room at each location. Mainly as a way of showing support for the staff members that may not be getting their usual breaks or lunch times, but also just because its what we do. The department usually assigns specific days to members of their staff and they bring something in. Today is my day and I'm taking fruit baskets. There has been so much "junk" food that it's time we had some healthier food showing up. I've got grapes, bananas, oranges and apples. At least I'll have some healthy snacks!

My positives:
A beautiful long weekend off work, sunshine and lovely tempertures. I did need a jacket on to sit outside, but it sure was nice to be outdoors on the back deck reading.
Healthy snacks going with me to work this morning.
A lovely evening to look forward to tomorrow. We are getting together with my aunt and uncle, brother and sister-in-law and a cousin that I haven't seen for many years.
Discovered that there is a learning center in the city that provides some very interesting courses starting in January 2011. I've requested a calendar and prices list.
I'm moving forward.
So grateful for lessons and blessings that come my way.

Have a wonderful Tuesday all. Live in the moment, yesterday is done, tomorrow isn't guaranteed.

Hugs,
Wanda

I hope you adjust to the new times so that you can make the most of a later start. I'm sure everyone will enjoy their fruity treats. :-)
I shall think of you browsing through the Learning Centre's calendar. They can be a real treasure-trove of goodies. :-)

Great job on the fruit baskets. My "team" is suppose to supply lunch on Friday for our office. Maybe I can inspire my team to think healthy!

I hope the change in hours works to your benefit while it lasts. Enjoy your day!

Joan went part-time a few months ago at the bank. There was an opening at a branch a few blocks from the house and her starting hours are later. She loves it. There isn't always this mad dash for her to get out of bed in the morning and have to rush out the door. She can enjoy her coffee and newspaper and get stuff done before she goes to work

She loves it

Holiday Monday and I'm glad it is. The kids all came over for dinner yesterday and we had a great time. Quin had driven in from out of town where he had been attending a friends bachelor party, so did not stay too long once dinner was over as he was very tired. (Perhaps, still feeling the effects of the previous nights fun too!) It was great to have him home for the time that he was. The girls stayed until quite late. All of us sitting around the kitchen counter and visiting. Lots of laughs. How blessed we are to have such wonderful relationships with all three of our children.

It looks like we are going to get sunshine yet again today. WOO HOO. Garry got the grass all cut yesterday, which meant that the leaves that were all over got done also. Lawn ornaments and solar lights are all put away for another winter. Today he is talking about putting up the "Christmas lights". He hates to put them up before November at the earliest, but the weather is so nice that it is very tempting. We'll have to see just how much he likes the idea later. *grin*

My positives:
A holiday Monday, so no going to work today.
My awesome children.
Yard work is all done and the yard is ready for winter.
Lots of leftovers still in the fridge, even though we sent lots home with the girls.
A lovely phone chat with my Aunt yesterday, we will be getting together with them and my brother and his wife on Wednesday evening.
I love waking up in the morning, knowing that I have a whole day ahead of me to be the best that I can be. It's like a fresh start every day.

Enjoy your day, get excited about your life.

Hugs,
Wanda

Happy Thanksgiving, Wanda! I got right up and out for a walk (with some running intervals) this morning. A great start to my day off from work as well! Created some of that excitement that you are talking about. I have a list of things that I want to accomplish today and a list of ideas that I want to implement into my healthy lifestyle. So it's a exciting day! Much to be thankful for. Thanks for passing on your zest for life this morning!

Enjoy yourself.

Nancy

October 10 and my brother's birthday today. I talked to him a couple of days ago and wished him a wonderful day, but will try and reach him again today. Both my brothers have their birthdays in October. My eldest brother is the first and then Layne's is the tenth. Actually the first two weeks in October are chocked full of family members birthdays.

Todays the day that I must haul out all the fixings for Thanksgiving feast. The kids are coming over and we are going to have a great time. Tomorrow is officially Thanksgiving, but Sunday's are a much better day for all of us to get together. I bought the smallest turkey I could find and will send leftovers home with everyone. I don't eat meat, Garry only likes the dark meat, Q doesn't like turkey at all and the girls eat only the white meat. But I've got yams, sweet potatoes and white potatoes as well as lots of other veggies all ready and waiting . Lots of salads ready also and a huge big apple pie from Costco. (I rarely bake, as no one eats it...we just aren't a family that eats alot of baking). Let the day begin.

My positives:
My family will be all gathered here today.
It's a beautiful sunny day.
My brother's birthday.
Caught up on all my emails.
Food on our table, roof over our heads ...so blessed.
Guidance in my life, and when I pay attention to it, life goes so much smoother!

Have a wonderful day, celebrate being alive and fill your day with positiveness and gratitude.

Hugs,
Wanda

Your brother's birthday falls on 10/10/10 which happens infrequently. I am very impressed that you've done so many types of pickles and that they are good. I did some pickles last year and only had two types I'd do again - how right you are that you have to repeat it again the following year (I took notes and I am really happy I did). I used a special notebook for my recipe notes - it's red and I can see it a mile away so it doesn't get lost in with all my recipe books!

I'm about to begin some food prep for tomorrow. Have a great Thanks giving dinner.

The pickles have found their way to the fridge and oh my goodness are they good! I'm so thrilled with my mixed pickles and last night Garry opened a jar of dill pickles that he started raving about. They are so crunchy you could hear them as he was eating them. Now all I have to do is copy whatever magic I managed to produce this year into next years crop!
We will open some pickled bread and butters and picked onions and red peppers today also. I'm excited about how things have turned out.
Thanks for asking.

Hugs,
Wanda

Happy THANKSGIVING! Have a great day with the family. Then you get tomorrow to relax. Whoopee! Are some of those fancy canned goods going to be cracked open today. A pickle or two, perhaps? I look forward to the report. And I look forward to this week's challenge. I think it may have just posted while I was here visiting. I just finished up last week's before I came to see you. "Do you like your body?"
Have an AWESOME day. I am thankful for you.

Nancy

Yay, it's massage Saturday!

Saturday, October 09, 2010

The second Saturday of every month I have a standing appointment for theraputic massage. YAY, today is the day!
My therapist is someone that I have been going to now for almost 4 years. Wendy know just how to make my body behave it's self and how to correct those trouble spots each time I go. One of the things that I love about Wendy is she is spirit lead, which means that she relies on spiritual direction and allows spirit to work through her and provide healing. I come away from my hour session with her feeling wonderful. ahhhhhh.

Our department move has been delayed until Wednesday morning now. Apparently the floors in our department need to be sealed and that is to take place this weekend. But our old location is looking very empty now. Almost all the books have now been transported to the new library, desks from the Youth department, Adult Services and Administration have now been transported. So we really are working between two buildings at the moment. Chaos reigns! But at least it appears to be organized chaos. Temporary tables and folding chairs have been set up for those of us that still have computer work to do each day. Because our new location is still considered a "work site" we are not allowed to be over there working at anything other than pre-set ups until October 18th when the safety inspection of everything is signed off.
I had the wonderful priviledge of being authorized to head to the main post office and officially have our change of address put into place. As of October 25th our mail and parcels that travel through Canada Post will be redirected to the new library. It's official...we have a new address!

Our new digs are an amazing 67,000 square feet of space, spread over two levels. I will try and take some pictures for you and post them. We are very excited about our new building (even though I will probably get lost trying to find my way around)

My positives:
It's the weekend.
My massage Saturday and my lower back is more than ready for some of Wendy's magic touch.
Our mortgage renewal has been approved and we go and sign the papers on Tuesday. We changed banks due to a better rate, so everything needed to go through approval again.
It's Thanksgiving weekend, my children will be coming over for a shared dinner on Sunday...yay...kid time!
Sun is supposed to share today and temps are supposed to reach the high teens, thank you for the lovely weather.
Getting better at letting the small stuff go and moving forward without it's baggage.
That my habits of positive affirmations and gratefulness are paying off.

Have a wonderfully blessed day, enjoy your day, share some laughter and just be happy.

Hugs,
Wanda

    Hiya,
Colour me confused. I thought Thanksgiving wasn't until the end of November. :-) In fact, I didn't know you had Thanksgiving in Canada. I guess you learn something new every day. :-)
Your massage therapist sounds absolutely wonderful. I could use some of that. *sigh* :-)
For some reason I stopped getting notifications of your blogs. I just realised that I am way behind. Sorry about that.
Hugs,
Lex xxx

Yay! I'm jealous! Jealousy is a bad habit. I'll let that go by reminding myself, that there is no reason that I can't schedule myself a massage once a month. "If you really feel you need a regular massage, Nancy, why don't you just get out there and get yourself one. What's stopping you? And don't say 'the money'. A massage once a month would not break your budget and you know it." Thanks for that thought tangent, Wanda.
It sounds like a wonderful weekend with lots of moments to be thankful for. Have a great holiday. Have a great massage. Enjoy!
Love you.
