It's been a busy week...yay it's Friday!

Friday, September 17, 2010

Yesterday was a very busy day, but a productive day as far as meetings go. My 7am meeting ending up lasting 3hours, which meant that I missed my 8:30 am meeting. Alls good though as I was filled in on what took place there by another co-worker. The first meeting was very productive and hopefully lots of little niggly issues will be fixed.

The service in the afternoon for Beth's Mom was very nice. A lovely tribute to her Mom. It was late in the afternoon by the time I finally got home.

YAY, my hubby and come home at his lunch hour and moved all the potted tomato plants into the garage and covered all the garden plants with old sheets and plastic. Good thing as we had a good frost last night. When I turned on the back light to check this morning...it's very frosty! Hopefully things will hold out until Saturday when I can get out there and do what is necessary. There has been snow all around us and few flakes falling here too. Nothing that is staying around(as yet). Mother Nature has decided that winter will replace fall completely.

My positives:
Being able to support a co-worker during a difficult time for her and her family.
A husband who makes my life easier just by doing the little things for me.
My faith.
Knowing that I am always supported and loved. Not that I always see that, but those times of lapses are few.
Friends and family.
Having a warm place to lay my head at night.

Have a Fabulous Friday...Be aware of just how wonderfully made you really are. Look on the inside and acknowledge your strengths and talents.

I'm sitting here sweating and you're talking snow. Amazing. Nice that DH took care of the the little tomatoes. Have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your warm house. Dance in the snowflakes like a Nutcracker Ballerina and enjoy!
Love you.

Thanks for the visit Wanda. My back seems to be holding up and I've gotten quite a few of my chores done. I can't believe you actually had frost this morning. I'll send good thoughts out to your neck of the woods in hopes it was just a freak occurrence and things will warm up for you.

Thursday and a busy one at that!

Thursday, September 16, 2010

This week has certainly contained a busy schedule, today will be no different.
I have a 7am meeting, an 8:30 am meeting, my usual work as well as we will be attending services for our co-workers Mom this afternoon.
Yesterday contained a 10 am meeting and then another mandatory 2 hour transition meeting from 2-4pm. I'm thinking that meetings are going to be coming a regular way of life for all of us now until we reopen in our new location Nov. 1st. It's making for some long days for those of us who start work at 5:30 am. I just have to keep reminding myself...this too shall pass. Also that although it is a very busy time...it will be wonderful to be in our new building.

My positives:
That I work for an employer that really cares about it's employees.
Flexibility in my work schedule to allow me to adjust my schedule as needed.
No frost this morning.
Great co-workers.
Great team members on SP. Thank you each of you for blessing my day.
Life...what an amazing miracle to have.

Have a great day. Look for your blessings and marvel at being alive.

Wanda there's an Italian tomato called Red Fig that is quite prolific and that you can pull up out of the ground and hang indoors to let the green tomatoes ripen at the end of the season. I tried them this year because there was an interesting recipe where you boil them in sugar water over and over a couple of times then dry them and they store easily and taste like dried figs. I am going to try it this weekend. If you want I can send you some of the seeds and you can try growing them in late March/early April. I found the plants to be quite hardy and got lots and lots of little pear-shaped, tastey tomatoes all Summer long.

I hope the service goes well this afternoon.

I do marvel! Marvelous Thursday. I have been given breath and patience and endurance and all sorts of wonderful gifts today. I hope that your were able to help your co-worker give her mom a fond farewell. Very sad. Thank you for sharing your day and your blessings. Have a great evening.

Mid week and mid month...

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

September 15th and we've missed summer and by all appearances fall is passing us by too and we are heading right into winter|! It's cold outside especially for this time of year. Temperatures are predicted to drop to below zero by Friday! Yikes!

We found out on Monday that a co-workers Mom passed away very suddenly on Sept 11th, the service is on Thursday and some of us from work will be attending. Beth's mom was the same age as myself. She was very active in the community and will be greatly missed.

Oh a brighter note, life is good in our household. Nothing special to report, just living our lives, but they are good lives and richly blessed each day.

My positives:
We have crappy weather...on the plus side...isn't it great that the weather is the only thing I have that I can whine about!
A very good meeting yesterday with our representative from one of our major vendors. Some new and exciting things are being offered and it will be interesting to see how the technology develops over the next couple of years to support it.
No meeting today, two back to back tomorrow.
We had a major power outage yesterday at work...apparently an underground transformer blew, so we were without power for about 45 minutes. It just so happened that it was right around lunchtime, so we all gathered around one of the desks and sat and visited. A great opportunity to take a breather and connect with each other while we waited to see if and when the power would come back on. Yay, no server problems either when it did come back on.
Life....what a blessing to be able to see my glass as half full.

Have a wonderful day...how's your glass today?

My glass is unbreakable. It's plastic. Very practical. And it's filled with plenty of delicious water. Water is all I drink these days. Gave up coffee. Don't miss it.
Enough about me.
Sounds like a nice little break with the co-workers. Nothing like a "natural disaster" to make you stop and connect. I woke up this morning wondering if American Airlines flies to an airport near you. I came on the computer to check it out, got sparking and forgot what I was doing. "Seeing" you reminded me.
Have a super day. Life is good.

Sept 14 and all is well

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

I feel like the town crier with my entry title "Hear ye, hear ye, Sept 14th and all is well" lol

A busy day yesterday, not only at work, but once I got home also. I never stopped being on the go until 9:30 last night. Sure didn't have any trouble falling asleep when I did get to bed. Usually I'm awake before the alarm rings, but not this morning. I really do hate the sound of that alarm...it's so jarring! lol But on the other hand, it does what it's supposed to and wakes me up.

This week is a week of meetings at work. Everyday there is a meeting as well as Thursday there are two meetings back to back. I'm thinking that until after we get moved over to our new building, meetings will become the norm.

My positives:

A good night's sleep, although the alarm woke me up with a jar, I'm ready to face the day.
No frost last night.
A good study group meeting last evening.
A new day has been granted to me to continue to grow and learn.
Being blessed.

Have a wonderful day, enjoy, celebrate that you are alive and that you are worthy.

You made me laugh out loud (but I am not permitted to write LOL. My children forbid it! I let them think they control me by submitting to their petty requests!)
Town Crier Wanda. Perhaps in a past life? It suits you. You forgot to mention the dear little tomatoes. Did you see Bre's blog today? Did you see her tomatoes? I am so jealous! What a beautiful photo! I don't think the 2 tomatoes that came out of my garden would photograph so well.
Anyway. Again. I thank you for your faithfulness. I love to visit and smile. I love to be uplifted by your positive view and attitude of gratitude. Thank you my treasured friend. Have a peaceful sleep!

Wanda, I know what you mean about that alarm! I now use my cell phone because it came with a ringtone of people singing, "Good morning. Babababababababa...good morning...babababababa...good morning...It's a beautiful day!...bababababababa...it's a beautiful day!"

The best part is that Katie jumps onto the table on which the phone sits and tries to find the people who are singing! :)

Sept 13

Monday, September 13, 2010

It's Monday and back to work once again. Had a great day yesterday. Hubby and I spent the day just hanging out together. I even took him grocery shopping with me...that doesn't happen often as groceries always seem to cost more when he is along! lol. Yesterday was no exception. We did end up going to Hole's Greenhouse in St. Albert though. I picked up some carrot and turnip seeds to plant this fall (well at least the carrot seeds will be planted). I wanted to try the fall planting to see if they really would come up in the spring. I've been told to plant the seeds twice as deep and twice as thick and you will end up with a crop of carrots about 3 weeks earlier than usual. Figured it's only one package of seeds...let's experiment!
I've got loads of tomatoes on my plants and just keep praying each day that they get a little bigger. We had a lovely warm day yesterday, it made it up to 18 with some sunshine, by late afternoon, however, it had reverted back to cooler(14) and rain.
The girls came over for supper. We dined on a lovely fresh crop of potatoes straight out of the garden and then roasted. There is just no comparison between fresh garden potatoes and store bought. We had purchased some corn on the cob also and it was very good, topped off with a big salad. My kind of supper!

My Positives:
A lovely relaxing weekend.
Time with my hubby and girls.
A phone call from our son.
A new tea kettle that works incredibly well...YAY!
I'm on track.
I have great health.
I have all that I need to live a happy life.
Just being alive...what a gift.

Have a wonderful day, find your blessings...the small ones count too.

    Well I'm smiling!

Sounds like you've really got the 'bug' (for gardening) ... thanks for the carrot seed planting tip ... [I am going to try this]!

I feel for your tomatoes (and for you) ... if you really want to go a little crazier with this, you can always put up some plastic tents over your tomatoes and create 'another environment' to warm them up and buy a little more time. Last year was our 'way too wet season'

... this year it's been really hot which is good for the tomatoes BUT watering needs to remain constant SO if they are to grow perfectly - one needs to know when it's going to rain and when it's going to be dry - the weather people do what they can to predict this for us but really now - I think one needs to be psychic! (Tomatoes split if the watering isn't 100% consistent I am finding out.)

Good Fun.

I am also finding out that planting 61 different types of tomatoes doesn't matter much if what you are doing at the 'end of the day' is making tomato sauce. heheh

I am very glad to be back - I will definitely read through your blogs and catch up on every last minute I have missed while being off 'doing other things'.

Wanda did you know if it doesn't look like the tomatoes are going to ripen before a frost you can pick them and wrap them in newspaper and put in a basket or box store in a cool place and they'll ripen up. I did this one year when we lived in a house with a MI cellar(dirt), I had one problem though and that was the mice found them and got into some of them, lol, well they needed to eat too I guess. Nancy's idea of fried green tomatoes is good too, they are good. I am not sure but I think there is a green tomato relish you can make also. Glad you had a nice weekend and some great family time. I have stamp club tonight, glad it's only once a month, I'd better be feeling better in October as I am doing a stack'n stamp, we'll be making 10 Christmas cards and I always look forward to that. Have a great Monday.

I feel like I should put those tomatoes on a prayer chain or something. I'm worried for them. You may have to fry them up green! I look forward to the carrot report. Sounds interesting. Glad that you had nice family time this weekend and enjoyed those homegrown potatoes. Thanks for leading the way on focusing on all that is right in your world. I have been blessed just by reading. Thanks.
