April goals

Extra walking today...from work I walked to where the course I am taking was held, then back to work again and because the sun was shining and it was only zero C out today, went for a walk after work. (did you enjoy the walk Kathy and Marla? lol)
Aquasizes tonight makes for a great day of exercising.

My April goals:

Exercise 2450 minutes (off to a great start already)
Eliminate: 8 pounds
Increase Water intake to 11 glasses daily.
Spread the spark to four new people (1 down, 3 to go!)
Continue to blog a daily positive from my day.
Share my goals with my teams, perhaps it will encourage others to set their goals.

Great idea on setting goals...
I just did that on the April Challenge that the 50+ team has going. I should post them on a blog so that I can look back to see that I am on track... great idea... Thanks for sharing that.

Oh and FYI we have a weekly challenge going too called One pound gone challenge... It get us motivated for the week to work really hard to get rid of just one pound... Which for some of us it a big challenge. If you are interested in getting a motivating email from Cheryl and others... let her know... All you do is do your best for the week and then let us know how you do on your weigh in...
Ok now I'm gonna go Warm Marla up from that walk... I know that she loves the cold, but that was COLD!!! She's drinking a hot tottie (sp) tonight to help her cold... lol that should help huh?

I made 2 goals this month!

What a great day today...I made two goals that I had set for myself for the month of March!
1. To reach 195 by March 31st
2. To reach 2432 minutes of exercise....I did 2471!!

Such a great motivation to keep on going. Now I have to set some goals for April, going to have to give it some serious thought.

I picked up my 13 week pass for the Corporate Wellness session I will be attending. This means that for the next 13 weeks I can attend my aquasize classes, fitness classes and the walking oval for free! Woo Hoo! (Marla and Kathy, you won't have to worry about winter coats when I do the indoor walking oval lol) I have my session with the Nutritionalist and Fitness Tech on Saturday...they will devise a fitness plan specific for me. I plan on staying with SP tracking for nutrition and exercise though. I look on this opportunity with the wellness session as a bonus and a way of shuffling things up abit to keep my body guessing what will I do next!
I know I will succeed because I choose to succeed and I will continue to keep my focus on the positive. Yes, life is really terrific when we take the time to appreciate what we have.

I had a super great day. Got up early and had a couple of hours to myself before everyone else started stirring on this Saturday morning.
Went for a walk, even though it was -6C I still managed to get in a 20 minute walk....the wind chill changed my mind about a longer one!
We had an unexpected phone call from friends we hadn't heard from in a very long time. Dana was actually a school mate of both my husband and I and he and his wife were visiting in Edmonton. My blogging is late this evening because they came out to visit with us ....we had such a great visit. We'll see them again in August when we go to a reunion of the town we all used to live in.
Garry took the afternoon off work and we spent time together. We went and looked at show homes and got some great ideas for our renovations!
To round off a super day...I logged on to SP and read some great positive posts and blogs....it just doesn't get better than that.

    Your day sounded wonderful...Except for that weather of yours... lol... I get chilled thinking about it... brrrrr
Oh and to get together with old friends is the best... What fun talking about the good old days ... And then spending the afternoon with Garry... Just Perfect... Good Luck on your renovations.
And Yes I took a very deep breath of those roses just for you... I hope you get some nice weather soon... It's time for spring to come your way... Then you can stop and smell the roses when you take those long walks...

Summer session challenge Day 1

GonnaBfitUniversity Summer session Challenge for Day 1:

re-evaluate your exercise and eating plans. Write what you have done wrong, what has helped, and what you plan to accomplish in the future.

When I joined SP, I joined with the commitment to become healthy. I no longer wanted to be unhappy with my appearance. I decided that if God was going to lead me to SP, then He was also going to show me how I could succeed. First step in succeeding was the realization that this is a lifestyle change, not a diet.
Second, was accepting that if I truly wanted to change my lifestyle, that meant accepting my responsibility in the choices I make. I could choose to make excuses of why I wasn't succeeding or I could choose to be successful by using the tools that SP provides. I could choose to use negativity and surround myself with negative energy or I could choose to use positive affirmations and surround myself with positive outcomes. Third step was knowing that if I want something, it is my responsibility to create what I want.
My keys for my success are simply...track everything that I eat, drink my water and exercise. I have gone from being a couch potato six months ago to someone who exercises daily (most days 75+ minutes). I break my exercise down into achievable amounts to fit into my day. I walk on my breaks...by the end of the day, that equates to 30 minutes of walking...a bonus! I walk or dance while watching any TV program...since I'm not a huge TV watcher this equates to 30-60 minutes a day. I go to aquasizes 2x a week and I do strength training 3x a week. It wasn't easy to do at the beginning, as I didn't want to do it...but when you know that the only person who can change how you look or feel about yourself is you...then you make yourself. Choices. Now I look forward to the exercise and don't feel my day is complete until I have accomplished them. It's not longer a hardship.
My eating is healthy, because I choose to eat healthy. I allow myself a treat once in awhile, but I plan for it in my calorie allotment. This has served me well as I have eliminated 50+ pounds since the end of August 2007. I will continue to eliminate until I reach my goal by August 2008. Yes, there are days that you want to say "to heck with it", but then I remind myself why I am doing this in the first place. That is when I become the responsible parent of the child within who wants to throw a temper tantrum.
My goals are achievable because I choose to make them achievable. Focusing on the positive in each day and letting go of the negative works for me. The law of attraction at work...positive attracts positive and negative attracts negative.

My positives for this day...Summer session challenge has begun...YIPPEE!
It snowed...but just as quickly melted...spring is here!
It's Friday...work is done....now it's my time!
Life is just plain awesome and wonderful.

    Wanda - I love the idea of walking or dancing while watching tv! What a way to get in more exercise!!! If you don't mind, I'm going to "use" your idea myself. I already walk in place while on the phone, just didn't think to do it if I'm watching tv. Thanks! ((((Hugs)))) Marla

    Awesome job you did re-evaluating your plans...

I do this too... When I see that things aren't going as planned I stop and take a big step back and see what I'm doing and if I'm still on track... I even go back to square one, somtimes... But the biggest thing I've learned is that I'm not giving up this time... I too have excepted this as a lifestyle journey... I may jump off the track for a short time or hit a speed bump as I call it... But I get right back in there...

You are doing such a great job with all of this...
I love this challenge too... I was just saying in the chat that it would be great if we had more challenges... They are really motivating...

I am so pleased that a new semester has begun at GonnabfitUniversity. I have missed having the challenges to do.
I made up my own challenges during the break, but it's not as much fun as having to be accountable to your team. So Yippee! school's back in session. (lol)
A super great day today, I am reading more positive things in peoples blogs. More people are embracing a lifestyle change, which translates into a healthier population!
I had a busy day at work, which I like, makes the day go quickly. I work with a great team in our department and we usually manage to spontaneously burst into random singing at some point during the day, today being no exception. We are serious when we need to be, but insanity runs rampid at other times. Amazingly, we are the most productive department. I believe it's because none of us takes our selves too seriously and those moments of insanity relieve any stress that might be building. We are also the department that has the lowest staff turnover and have the most inquiries about any openings being available. This year we will have two summer students joining our staff, one begins on Monday. They have no idea what they are letting themselves in for LOL.
Went to a new aquasize class last night, loved that the pool was almost 2x larger than the one I've been going to, so lots of room to exercise, greatly enjoyed the instructor...but oh my was the pool temperature ever on the cool side. Plus side of the cool water...you certainly didn't want to be stationary...you worked out just to keep warm! Call me crazy, but I will go back as I enjoyed the work out. I get to pick up my 13 week free pass on Saturday as part of the Corporate wellness session I am a part of ....yippee....more exercise. (yes, I really am insane!)
Must head off now to do today's quota of exercising.

    Wanda - First, let me say, it sounds like you do enjoy your job. That's great. Secondly, you're really getting into this fitness 'thing'! That 13 week pass for your Corporate wellness session sounds like you'll really get a great workout. Oh, the cool pool water will burn more calories, ya know?     Your job sounds like mine was, way back when... We enjoyed ourselves all the time... I never once got up in the morning and said I didn't want to go to work...I was so fortunate to have worked there for 12 years before my disability... It sure makes for a better place to work when you have fun.
Oh and I'm starting to pass on this positive concept along the way too... I don't really mean to do it, it just comes out sometimes... lol I even have another spfriend that has started the challenge as well and is seeing good things happening in her life too...
