YAY, it's Friday!

Friday, July 30, 2010

It's Fabulous Friday and a long weekend to boot! Woo Hoo!

We finally have some hot temperatures and sunshine! The big down side...we've been having so much rain that the first day of sunshine yesterday produced a massive hatching of mosquitoes. Man are they bad! The moment you step outside, you are swarmed. You can actually see them as a cloud over some of the green spaces! There goes being able to sit out on my deck ! Arrrggggh. I went out to water my garden after work yesterday and ended up using the hose on myself too to try and keep the mosquitoes from biting. So....how am I going to turn the mosquitoe population into a positive....hmmmmm....well...in order to have this crop of mosquitoes...that means that the sun has to be shining (that's a plus). Any bats that are around will be feasting! (okay, so that's not so great from my point of view...from the bats it's awesome!).
I'm sorry...I'm really struggling to find a positive about mosquitoes....help out here!

My positives:

It's Fabulous Friday.
A long weekend to look forward to.
Lots of great books to read.
A wonderful chat on the phone yesterday with Nancy. Ahhhh, made my day!
A nice chat with Kaeli.
Life....it is really wonderful (except for the mosquitoes lol)

Have a wonderful day, find the fun and great moments and amplify them.

Mosquitoes teach us humility. An illustration: While at our mountain vacation we have those screens that you stretch out in the bottom of your open window. There are always some gaps. I lectured the children about keeping the lights off in their rooms. About 10 days into our vacation, when they were all complaining about I gave them the lecture again, showed them the gaps around my screens and how I hadn't had a single run in with a mosquito in my room because I never turned the light in my room on. That evening, as I was drifting off to sleep, "BZZZZZZZZZZT" in my ear. Up goes the sheet over my head and the fight to get to sleep. Ms. Know-it-all finds out that she's not "all that." Humility. Yup. Mosquitoes are excellent teachers.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Hmmm mosquitoes, maybe they are here to remind us not all things are made for our pleasure, but they're still part of His great creation, and they are food for bats, birds and frogs, this is just me rambling. My DD's had an abundance of the little buggers also and they seem to be very mean. Well when I first got on my internet was slow and now all of a sudden it's working right again, I give up, lol. That was nice you got to talk with Nancy, it's so good to have her back amongest us again. I guess it's been a busy summer for lots of our team mates. Enjoy your fabulous Friday and the weekend.

I have noticed bats here after alomst ten years withuot seeing any. It must be all the heat and humidity we have experienced.

I'll weigh in on mosquito cures, LOl We camped a lot when we were kids and the doctor told my mom to give us vitamin B12. It produces a sweet odor from your skin that repels mosquitos.

Hope you have a great Friday, friend and how lucky you were to get ot talk with Nanacy

EAT GARLIC and stay away from bananas on the mosquitos!!! Also I have heard (but have not tried) if you put a sheet of bounce on your belt or even rub it on you, they stay away. I know it has worked for flies for me when I am hiking. Have not tested it on the mosquito theory though.

I don't think that I can find a great thing about mosquitoes. They are not my favorite insect. Next time we have this problem, I will try the clip-on mosquito repellent. I've always wondered if it works.

Do enjoy your sunshine!

Other birds also eat mosquittos...so the mosquitto population is helping attract beautiful and interesting birds to your area!!

Moving along....

Thursday, July 29, 2010

I pulled on a pair of pants this morning, that had been feeling just a little too snug for my liking, yay...they no longer feel snug! I'm getting back into the swing of things and finding my determination again.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to share sparkpeople with a co-worker that has been struggling with her weight issues also. I'm hoping that she decides to check things out and make a commitment to herself to create a healthier lifestyle for herself.

It was a mixed bad of weather kind of day yesterday, it didn't reach the 29 that was said, only made it to 22 with a lovely breeze. Felt a shame to having to be indoors for most of the day. A co-worker and I grabbed a couple of lawn chairs that are always stored in the closet at work and took ourselves out to the green space across from work and sat and ate our lunch. It was so nice to be outdoors and away from the computer desk. I think that might have been our only bit of sunshine during the whole day. By the time I got home from work...we were back into thunderstorms and rain! Mind you, Mauri had challenged us to do something Wacky for Wacky Wednesday...sitting outside on my deck in the rain was rather fun!

My Positives:

Feeling encouraged and re-motivated to continue to stay on track with my nutrition/exercise. It's amazing how making the decision to be really faithful in ones tracking helps the process! lol
Putting on a pair of pants this morning that are no longer snug.
Lots of new books to read...I had 8 books on hold for me at the library yesterday! WOO HOO.
A long weekend coming up...the first weekend in August is a long weekend here in Canada.
All the wonderful blessings that occur through out my day.

Have a wonderful Thursday...keep focused on your goals...you'll get there.

What a nice feeling to have a noticeable difference in the pants fit! That's a great feeling. Thanks for reminding me of the rewards of tenacious adherence to healthy choices! I'm doing some of my emotional work along side the housework today. Hoping to see a noticeable difference as well for increased motivation to make those good choices. A month of not counting blessings on a daily basis has taken it's toll on this positive attitude of mine. So now I'm working hard to get back in mental shape! I hope to talk to you later this afternoon. Lord willin' and the creek don't rise. (as they say). Thanks for providing a haven of positivity for me to visit. Like coming to the well!
Love you.

Sleepy zzzzzzzz

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

I was so tired yesterday, that I fell asleep just after 7pm...unfortunately I woke up again at 9:30 pm and then spent the rest of the night tossing and turning!! I'd doze off and then wake up again, doze off and wake up again. Not sure what was going on, but I do know that I'm working on a "backup tank" this morning. I'm using positive affirmations overtime this morning ..." I have energy, I am rested, I am ready to enjoy the day, I am surrounded by the white light of the Holy Spirit, I am exactly where I am meant to be". So bring on the day and all that it holds for me. emoticon

My positives:

Life...its so filled with surprises each day, by embracing them, I grow.
It mid way through the work week....YAY!
Beautiful weather.
My garden...I still need to take some pictures and post them!
Having a word to focus on each day, has been very helpful.

What a blessed and exciting day!

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

I'm still riding high after an absolutely amazing and wonderful day yesterday.

We added a new baby to the family yesterday morning at 1:36am...Jaiden Rose weighing in at 8lbs 12 oz. I'm honored to have the title of Gramma Wanda. Julie and Kaeli have been bf since they were 8 years old and Julie is just one of our kids! Now we have a new granddaughter! So excited. Then I became an honorary
"Auntie" once again... Daphne Ella-Marie weighing in at 8lbs 2.5 oz joined our circle of love. (interesting enough the moms, grew up only a street apart!). Then we added a new little cousin to the mix...Ellie (not sure of the exact weight at this moment) joined in the excitment of the day. Woo...talk about a amazing adventure!

My positives:

3 new little girls added to the family. I'm so excited!
Great study group last evening.
A busy day ahead of me.
Being so blessed.

Have a wonderful day,

Three little ladies! Very nice. I'm feeling all pink and cuddly just by reading! I can almost smell the baby around you!
I'm enjoying the word of the day. Helps me to center and recognize the bigger picture at the start of my day. Have a great Tuesday and can we plan a call? I've got some time on my card that is burning a hole in my pocket. Let's find a good time.

Choosing to be joyful!

Monday, July 26, 2010

Do you ever wake up some mornings and just feel like singing, your heart is soaring and life is just awesome? Most mornings that is the way I wake up, this morning just doesn't happen to be one of those days, for whatever reason. So in order to make it one of those days...I need to make some choices!
Am I going to allow the blah feelings to rule my day, or am I going to strive to have a cheerful attitude? Am I going to actively work towards making this an awesome day, or am I going to just allow my spirit to be swayed this way then that, up, down and all over the place?

Yep...it's going to be one of those "all about choices" kind of days, and I'm okay with that. It gives me the chance to exercise my spiritual wings, to really pay attention to what is occuring around me...to live in the moment.

My Positives:

I had a great weekend, caught up on my sleep and now ready to face another work week.
Talked to our son again last evening. He hopes to be home for a few days the first week of August.
Time with the girls this weekend, time with Garry.
Marla, Shirl and Nancy for always being a big part of my life.
Study group tonight...which means I'll try and get a nap in after work!
Life and how blessed we are to have the health, freedom and love that we do.

Have an awesome day, if it doesn't start out in the awesome range... make it so!

Well thanks to Mauri I decided that I needed some positives in my life really bad. And so what better place to come than to you my wonderful Positive friend. How do I get off track so? Well that doesn't matter, what matters is that I Choose to make my day a good one or a bad one. So Thanks for reminding me how it's done.
It's a choice... Now to remember and make this work today. I choose to have a good day today. I am strong and I can do this...

Thank you Wanda... You still have that special way of helping those of us that keep falling off the positive wagon.

Carpe diem!! (Finally used that 3 years of Latin studies!)

"Choose" may have to be one of my daily words in the future, I think!! Especially since I return to work next Monday!

Thanks for saying the words that I needed today. I woke up in some "bad air" this morning and I needed the reminder to choose otherwise. I think I'll post a note on my mirror for a reminder. It's MY choice! Thanks for the positive reinforcement!
Have a great day, get a nice nap in, and enjoy your study.
Much love,
