A timely reminder....

I'll start by saying a big Thankyou for my beautiful spark friend Kathy, for reminding me to take the time to smell the roses. Today was one of those days at work, I came home in a not so gracious mood, but after reading her blog was reminded to take a deep breathe and let go of the things I can not change and to continue to embrace the positives in my day.
So Thank you Kathy for restoring my positive day!

I did not get my quota of exercise in today, but on the other hand, I did attend a 2 hours orientation session to begin my Corportate wellness program. I'm excited. I see a "fitness Tech" once a week, who on April 5th will design a fitness program specifically for me, I will also see a nutritionalist who will assess my nutrition. I will also receive a 13 week fitness pass so that I can attend all my aquasizes, strength training and fitness classes for FREE! Now there is a super positive!

Now that I have taken a deep breath and put things into prospective, I can add that although I was at work at 6:30 am, it only took until 10:45 to finally have my computer back up and running! I did not lose any of my data and all my vendor connections were restored! I also managed to get all the safety procedures manuals updated.

Things definitely leaned much more to the positive side than negative.

So next time I am feeling like my world is in chaos, I will remember to smell the roses and let go of what I can not change.

I'm so glad that I could help you to remember to let go of what is out of our control and to remember the positives...this one time... You have done it for me, so, I'm glad to return the favor... I feel so blessed that you have come into my life... I would probably be drowning in all kinds of negative stuff if you hadn't challenged me that day...
And how exciting that you had your orientation for the Corporate wellness program. That is so cool... But I bet that when the fitness Tech sees you, he/she will be amazed at how much you already know and do as far as your exercise and eating healthy. You could probably help teach others...lol

    Wanda - Believe it or not...I used to be Miss Negative...until my Kevin came into my life. He taught me to "stop & smell the roses". Like he told me, there are some things we have no control of whatsoever...all we can do is control ourselves & our reaction to things. Worrying is unproductive. See the good in all things. Think positive! So I've definitely changed how I look at things. "Let go of what we can't change!" Wonderful advice!

An enjoyable day again today.
Got all the laundry done bright and early, which was great as my youngest thought it would be a great idea if we went into Whyte Avenue and walked up and down the street window shopping and going out for lunch.
We had a great time, exploring the Avenue and all it holds. Bought myself a sweater and my daughter bought herself a very cute dress. I'm actually getting the hang of this shopping thing. I am actually enjoying walking into places and knowing that there is a possibility that something in the store will fit me now!
Bonus of all the walking around is that I burned 189 calories, woo hoo!
The sun was shining although it was rather cool outside. Just being able to walk outdoors again was such a nice experience. We are supposed to get some snow again tonight though.

I seem to have been spending a lot of time these past few blogs with walking around malls. But when you live in the climate we do and you want to go walking for exercise, you look for the most likely places to ensure that you can walk around for more than 15 minutes without freezing! Besides it's nice to look at things that one day you just might be able to buy because you actually fit into it! I love the dreaming, especially when I know that it will become an actuality. Thank you SP for all your help in making my dreams come true.

    Wanda - I used to do mall walking too. Now I have my new treadmill so I don't even have to leave the comforts of home! I usually put on music or watch the news or something while I'm walking. I can't wait til the day that I can try on 'normal' sized clothing too! (((Hugs))) Marla

Good Friday....

Yes it was Good Friday as well as a good Friday.
A peaceful day, spent with no time tables, no places that one had to be, just a day enjoying the moment. We often forget to just be in the moment. No thoughts of what needed to be accomplished or rectified...just being.
My husband got up early this morning (I'm always up before anyone else) and came down to see if I had had my breakfast yet...not yet, so he informed me that he was taking me out to breakfast! What a fun opportunity. We loaded all the recycling into the vehicle and headed out the door, just the two of us. Off to the recycle depot, dropped off all our goodies and headed to Denny's for breakfast.
I made a healthy choice from their menu...omelet only.
When we got back home, husband once again suggested that we go into the city to the mall and do some walking and window shopping. Had a great time, we put on almost 2 km of walking at the mall and that burnt off 116 calories...bonus! Now it's lunch time....another invite to eat out. Healthy choice again...a Cascadia salad...which included organic greens, pecans, cranberries and a small sliced up chicken breast. No dressing.
What a great day, spoilt rotten, eating out twice in one day!

Emails from friends and phone calls from family rounded out a wonderful "Good Friday". Yes God is truly good, we just need to open our eyes to see all the blessings that come our way each day.

It's mini Friday!

It's mini Friday today....almost Friday, it may be technically Thursday...but with Easter thrown in, my weekend started right after work today...YIPPEE!
A long weekend for me...I get Monday off also, woo hoo 4 days off.
Just got back from a long walk, the wind picked up on the way home but despite it being a cold wind, the walk was still enjoyable. Kathy and Marla hope you enjoyed the walk too, I took you along with me.
Now that the days are getting longer, I can go for a walk after the supper meal and have daylight!
A great day today, I read some very positive and inspirational blogs on SP today. Seems like more people are catching on to the fact that focusing on your positives each day has a wonderful effect on your spirit. Way to go positive bloggers.
My girls are going out this evening and my husband is working, so an evening to spend having a nice curl up with a good book. Oh, and Lost is on tonight!
My son stopped in on his way home tonight. Had a nice short visit before he had to get on the road again. I hadn't seen him since Christmas. He hopes to be back our way on Sunday time permitting.
That about summons up the highlights of my day. Hope you all had an equally enjoyable day. Keep a smile on your face, it lightens the heart.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid...interesting course. I have two more classes to complete it. What an interesting eye-0pener. So much stigmatism is still attached to people having mental health problems. Scary statistics and even they aren't accurate...1 out of every 3 people will have a mental health problem at some point in their life. Those are only the ones that are reported!

We are learning how to recognize and support people who are depressed, suicidal, bi-polar ,having anxiety issues as well as pychosis. These are problems that affect everyone of us. If a family member, co-worker or friend is dealing with one of these issues it ultimately affects us all in some form.

If you have the opportunity to take one of sessions, I recommend it.

Now for more positives in my day (the course really is a positive!)
1. The sun is shining and the snow is melting and even though it's predicted to snow yet again tonight...hey, it's March, winter is almost done!
2. I have aquasizes to attend tonight, I enjoy the exercise.
3. I was able to put in two extra brisk walks today. Walking to and from my course.
4. I had an email from my SIL that was really encouraging.
5. I woke up this morning! (sorry, just had to throw that one in there, every day that I wake up is a positive and a blessing!)

Count your blessings and focus on the positive.

Your Mental Health First Aid course is paying off... LOL You sure helped me. LOL And I am so thankful that you did... You are really good at it too... From things I've read here and there, you've helped a lot of people...
