Heigh ho, Heigh ho, it's off to work I go!

Monday, July 05, 2010

Holidays are over and it's back to work today. Part of me is going "oh no!", and the other part is going "Yay, structure!"

I'm sure that my desk is piled high, but oh well, that's life and I will get through it one paper at a time. I've greatly enjoyed this time off and although I didn't go anywhere or do anything exciting...I did have the opportunity to relax and recharge.

Garry is still away on his fishing trip and will be home either tomorrow or Wednesday depending on how the fishing goes. I'm looking forward to having someone else in the house with me. Someone to chat with in the evenings. The cat is not the same. lol

My Positives:
A week to just relax and get some of the monkeys off my back that I've had.
Due to what I've found out about the lack of secondary market for my dolls, I just might end up putting them back under the crawl space for awhile longer. But that's okay, as I made great progress in cleaning out stuff from there. YAY!
We had a bit of hail going on last night, but appears to be no major damage done to my lovely little garden. We've sure been getting the rain, the nice thing is that it isn't an all day thing. Just rains, clears up, then rains again.
My brother was in town yesterday and I was able to join him at the truck stop for a quick visit.
The count down is on now at work...we move to our new building in less than 3 months. We are going to be going flat out now! An exciting time, but lots of stressed out people...will have to watch that I don't become one of them.

Have an awesome day. Now that the holiday weekend is over, it's time to take stock, regroup and continue on towards your goals.

Hugs,
Wanda

Happy July 4th !

Sunday, July 04, 2010

Happy July 4th to all my American friends! Hope you are having a wonderful day filled with lots of great memories.

My holidays are winding down and it's back to work again tomorrow. The cat woke me up at 4:30 this morning, I'm guessing that she too is wanting to remind me that we are back on schedule as of tomorrow! lol
My last sleep in day and I was up at 4:30 am ...siggghhhh! The plus side...I'll be heading to bed early tonight and most likely right to sleep so that my body will be more than ready to get up at 4:30 am tomorrow for work!

We had a great thunderstorm roll through last night, lots of wind and rain. Thankfully nothing like the province of Saskatchewan has been experiencing the past couple of days...massive flooding and tornadoes. It's getting so you don't want to turn the news on anymore...there is always a disaster somewhere! Wouldn't it be nice to turn the news on and hear only positive and uplifting things instead of the negative that is always spouting out. Watching the news used to be something that I enjoyed watching, now I've limited my news watching to maybe a couple of evenings a week and usually only to catch the highlights. Summer time sure makes it even easier to miss watching the news altogether...sitting out on the deck or doing things outdoors, the daylight being longer, helps one to forget the time and the tv.

My positives:
Great day yesterday with Shyra. We managed to spend a good chunk of the day wandering around stores, window shopping and then actual shopping...she needed a new phone. ( I needed more reading material!)
Phone call from my brother last evening.
Reading a great book, filled with lots of food for thought: Twelve by Twelve: a one-room cabin off the grid & beyond the American dream by William Powers.
Very interesting concept and makes you think about life in general.
Looks like it's going to be a sunny, warm day out again today...great way to spend the last day of ones holiday...outdoors.

Have a wonderful Serenity Sunday and remember to celebrate safely.

Hugs,
Wanda

July 3rd

Saturday, July 03, 2010

My last weekend off before having to head back to work on Monday. I've discovered that I could really get used to not going in to work! I've greatly enjoyed having this time off and especially getting some things done around the house that require more than just a day or two to accomplish.

Made great head way with the crawl space. Did discover yesterday that it might be wise to put all my dolls and plates back into storage for awhile longer though. The secondary market on them is not at all good. Checked out several sources yesterday and all of them say the same thing. Checked out the prices on Ebay and the ones they are selling on ebay are selling for less than what I paid for the dolls. So....the economy indicates that I just might want to hang on to them a bit longer and revisit the issue again in a year or so.

My positives:
My crawl space is mostly cleaned out now, all I have to do is reorganize the items that are to go back in there.
I've been really enjoying having time off work to recharge and get some long awaited tasks accomplished.
How my interest in outdoor gardening has increased. I'm actually looking forward to having even more garden areas in the backyard next year.
Spending time on my own and in meditation.
How blessed I am as well as my family.

Have a wonderful Silly Saturday. Put laughter into your life, it is a wonderful cure all.

Hugs,
Wanda

July 2nd

Friday, July 02, 2010

I've got my goals set for this month, I'm making progress on the crawl space. Managed to get all my porcelain dolls out from storage as well as some items that we no longer need. Still more under there, but so much of it belongs to the kids!

I spent yesterday just enjoying the day all by myself. Listened to the fireworks as they went off, but was too tired to crawl out of bed and go and see them. They only lasted about 10 minutes anyway, so not worth the bother.

Today, I'm going to continue to work away at all that stuff that is in the crawl space and see how much of it I can manage to weed out! What a great feeling to finally be getting this monkey off my back.

My positives:
Had some real "me" time yesterday.
Sat out on my back deck for awhile reading.
Progress with the crawl space.
Only having to plan meals for one this week (Garry is fishing)
God in my life.

Hope you are all having a Fabulous Friday. Don't forget to tell yourself how great you are!

Hugs,
Wanda

Happy Canada Day!

Thursday, July 01, 2010

Canada's birthday today and lots of various activities going on. Not sure how much I will take in, might just stay home and enjoy the peace and quiet in my back yard.

I may have finally gotten rid of the crow that keeps dive bombing our cat when she is outside in the yard. I turned the water hose on it just as it was deciding to dive bomb. Trouble is, they are a smart bird and once you've done something they wise up pretty fast. So either it will wait until no one is in the yard with the cat or it won't come back!!!

Looks like it might be a nice sunny day today. We ended up with rain and thunder again yesterday during the day...just about the time that Kaeli and I were heading for the Farmer's Market. Oh well, we still went and got our veggies.
I even managed to find a lovely baby gift...a lovely hand made, very soft blanket! I'm sure that Julie & Mike will love it.

My Positives:
Spent the evening over at the girls watching "So You Think You Can Dance". We are such great "arm chair" judges. lol
A warm and sunny day shaping up for today.
Night guard seems to be really helping with the sore jaw. The muscles sure don't seem to be as tensed up in the mornings now. YAY!
My garden is looking good, I've got flowers and little peppers on my pepper plants, tomato plants are about 4/5 times the size they were when I planted the little seedlings. The potatoes are looking fantastic...now all they have to do is produce some potatoes! (My first attempt at growing them, so other than the fact that they need to be hilled...I know nothing!)
Garry is on board with expanding the gardening area next spring. We've even gotten so far as to decided where we will put a couple more raised garden beds. My aim is to be more self-sufficient with my gardening. (eventually, I'll get him convinced that our roof is perfect for solar panels!) Now, all I have to do is figure out a way of creating a root cellar....that doesn't get buried under feet of snow in the winter, and that won't be against bylaws.
Incredibly blessed life.

Have a fantastic day, to all my fellow Canadians...Have a great celebration day today.

Hugs,
Wanda
