Smile...life is awesome!

Saturday, May 29, 2010

It's the last Silly Saturday day for the month of May already! I like Silly Saturdays. I enjoy checking out the the challenge to see what bits of laughter have been left for the rest of us to enjoy. There is nothing like finding a moment in your day to share a smile, a chuckle or an outright laugh!

I managed to ignore the cat for a couple of extra hours this morning. She of course, did not see why I was not getting up at my usual time...her breakfast time in her world. She eventually decided that if I wasn't going to get up and feed her (her dish had food in in, but she won't eat if someone is not in the kitchen with her), she might as well make my lying in bed a tad uncomfortable. She proceeded to lie on top of me. This way every time I made a move, she was ready to jump up and have breakfast! Crazy cat!

It's raining again this morning. We've gone from extremely dry ground conditions to seemingly "always" wet conditions. The grass is sure a lovely shade of green now though and the leaves are fully opened on the trees. So far, my outdoor plants are surviving the dip in temperature and managing to still look alive. YAY!

Garry has today off work, so I think we will be having a lazy day...no yard work, in otherwords due to the weather. We'll most likely head into the city for shopping for things, but other than that...just a nice lazy day!

My Positives:
The lovely shades of green that have replaced the dry, brown colors outdoors.
Time to spend with Garry.
A couple of extra hours of lying in this morning.
Laundry almost finished.
Kaeli will be home tomorrow.
Life...it's just filled with blessings!

Have a wonderful Silly Saturday, take the time to find those moments of smiles, chuckles and laughter.

Hugs,
Wanda

May 28

We are closing in on the end of yet another month and heading into the half way mark of the year...wow!

Quin has been busy the past few days packing up all his supplies and gear to head back up north to his job as a fishing guide. The lake is completely open, which is about a month ahead of schedule! He has already sent some of his gear up with his boss and now tomorrow will head to Saskatoon to meet up with a client. His client is bringing his boat and has hired Quin to assist him in getting his boat on the lake and to the lodge. It will take them about 5 days to get there. I'm sure they will do some fishing along the way! lol
One of his fellow guides spent the night here last night on his way up north. Nevin and Quin have worked together for the past 2 or 3 years. It interesting to see the two of them together. Just like kids at Christmas time...excited about the up coming season.

My positives:

Got some of my garden planted yesterday after work. Still more to plant, but that may not occur until Sunday as we are supposed to get yet more rain today and tomorrow. The temperature has dipped to only +2 last night, so am hoping the my plants are okay.
It's Friday!
Kaeli will be back from her holiday on Sunday.
A great sleep last night, I'm feeling ready to tackle the day this morning.
On track with my goals.
Being so incredibly blessed with all that I have.

Have a wonderfully fabulous Friday. Thank you for stopping by and reading my blogs. Your comments always give me such a blessing.

Hugs,
Wanda

I cant agree with you more when you say that you are so incredibly blessed by what you have. I find that the more I look at my life the more that thought becomes a constant rather than a positive.

Hope you have a great weekend. we are going to Indianapolis for the 500!!!

Back in the land of the living!

Thursday, May 27, 2010

Yesterday was a washout day for me. Woke up with the headache that I'd gone to bed with the night before. Because of my reaction to medications, I have to be very careful if and when I take anything. Yesterday was definitely one of those rare days when I knew I was going to have to take something. I ended up calling into to work and leaving a message that I was not coming in. Went and took a tylenol and headed for bed once again. Medication will usually affect me in one of two ways, either I'll be having a close relationship with the toilet bowl or it knocks me out....YAY...I got both reactions! I think possibly due to the fact that the headache was so bad to begin with. At least there was enough of the medication in my system to knock me out. I slept until almost 11:30 am. When I did wake up, the headache was almost gone, but I felt like I was in a fog for the rest of the day.
Today...I'm back in the land of the living. I will take things easy at work, drink lots of water and eat very healthy!(but lightly)

My Positives:
Feeling much better this morning.
Being able to take a day off work and take care of myself.
An email letting me know that I have several books on hold for me at the library! YAY reading material once again.
Having such adverse reactions to medications forces me to take care of my body the best that I can and avoid ever having to take them in the first place. Sometimes it is beyond my control, but by eating healthy, exercising and being aware of stress levels, I can usually maintain good healhth. I suspect that all the yard work we have been doing the past few days...I may have over done things and may not have filled my body with all the nutrients it needed.
I learn from my mistakes!

Have a wonderful day,

Hugs,
Wanda

Good for you! It is so easy to let one of those days derail you to the point of backsliding. Way to Go!

Ouch!

One step closer to having my garden all planted! Quin and I hauled top soil yesterday...well, actually Quin did more of the hauling than I did. I got it all spread out into the garden. With the few loads that I carted though, I've given myself a hum dinger of a headache! Went to bed at 7:30 last night and still woke up with it this morning. I'm sure that it's just over strained muscles, which hopefully will let loose soon.

A short blog this morning, I'll try and get back later. I'm thinking that I might be phoning in to work to say I'm not coming it.

Hugs,
Wanda

Good Morning, I LOVE gardening but I find I get a headache when I don't frink enough water. It's hot out there and even if cool, all the work uses up your water.
Maybe have a frink bottle close by. It'll be refreshing and help with the headaches.
Enjoy your garden.

Almost done!

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Yesterday ended up being a very good day. It stopped raining and the sun came out. Garry and I were able to get the raised garden bed in place along with the help of our son. Now all that remains to be done is to fill it with top soil so that I can get my garden planted.
I did plant some potatoes in containers though, so we will see how that works out.
My tomatoe seedlings are still doing well, and I'm hopeful that when I transplant them, they will continue to thrive.

I'm stiff, sore and sunburnt this morning, but hey! I've got my garden area now...I'm a happy camper.
Wanda hauled the stone blocks and Garry built! Quinton manned the shovel once he arrived on the scene, prior to that the shoveling was Garry's job and the raking was mine. We are very pleased with the results.

My Positives:
Other than hauling in some top soil, my garden area is built.
One more project almost complete.
Sunshine yesterday.
Lovely BBQ in the evening to celebrate a hard day of work.
Calories burned yesterday by all of us.
Short work week.
Potatoes are planted and hopefully will grow! lol
A blessed long weekend.

Have a wonderful day, keep reminding yourself that "you are worth it".

Hugs,
Wanda
