June 1

Tuesday, June 01, 2010

June 1st and the snow has finally all melted! Today I can finally take the covering off the garden bed and see what, if any, damage has been done to my fledgling tomato plants. We had warmer weather in March than we have had the past few days. But...it's June now, right...summer should be here!

It's time also to stop coasting and get back on track. I went to put a top on this morning and it isn't fitting as loosely as it it used to...okay wake-up call. Time to recommit to a healthy lifestyle again. I've allowed my tiredness to slow me down. I need to figure out a way to get on top of the tiredness once again...and I've sneaky suspicion that is going to mean stepping up my exercise program. I know that when I make myself get out and do the exercising (even after work), I sleep much better. Sleeping better would ensure that I'm not so tired! DUH!

My Positives:
Wake-up calls.
It's never too late to take one's self in hand.
Phone call from Q last night to say that he arrived at one location safe and sound, now on to the next.
Bills are paid.
A plan in place.
Life and God's place in my life.

Have a wonderful day. Thank you for stopping by for a visit.

Hugs,
Wanda

    Happy June, Wanda!

I'll stop whining about all the rain we've had here in Oregon since I now know that you've just had your snow go away!

Hugs and blessings!

    Hi Wanda!
I hear you on the wake up calls! My best teaching "frock" has that "up five pounds" feeling on me. Learning to adapt those healthy routines to a constantly changing work life is my next feat to tackle. But I figure, as long as I keep plugging away, I'm making progress toward my Healthy Lifestyle goal. I look forward to the free time to catch up with my Sparking in June. Although, it looks as though there is no such thing as free time. It all costs and needs to be prioritized accordingly. Have a great day.
Love,
Nancy

Temperatures are creeping back up!

Monday, May 31, 2010

The temperatures are creeping back up. We are supposed to be experiencing double digits once again this week. YAY! The snow will be gone again!

By the time I get home from work today, I hope to be able to take the coverings off my garden and allow the plants to experience some warmer temperatures. Took a peek yesterday as we removed the snow laden coverings. The plants seem to okay...a little flat due to the weight that was on them, But all in all they looked like they will bounce back.

I've got my walking shoes on today and my goal is to actually take my breaks at work and walk ...that will give me 30 minutes of walking in today! I get busy and forget to take my breaks...today...it's going to be different.

My positives:
Warmer temperatures are on their way.
My goal for this week...to take my breaks and walk.
Although I didn't have a great sleep last night, I'm trusting that I will have all the energy I need to get through my work day.
The snow that we got yesterday is on it's way to becoming puddles of water.
Kaeli arrived home safe and sound, Quin is about to head out on the river guiding a client up river to Lake Athabasca with his clients boat. Trusting God to grant them travel mercies and safety.

It's Motivation Monday...make the choice today to get your exercising in.

Hugs,
Wanda

Mother Nature...it's supposed to be spring!!!

Sunday, May 30, 2010

Not a pleasant weekend here! Mother Nature has got her signals mixed up. It's supposed to be early summer time here. My garden has been mostly planted, my flowers are in...and now we have this!

These are yesterday's pictures, and it is still coming down this morning!

We managed to get the garden area covered with plastic, but I don't know how much damage will be done. Not only from the snow itself, but from the weight of the plastic with snow on top of it!

Oh well, what are you going to do??? All that I can do is give it to the Lord and trust that my plants will survive.

My Positives:
Tomorrow's weather forecast says sun and warmer temperatures...so this will not be long lasting.
Another day of not having to do any yardwork...in otherwords, we get to relax!
Life is full of surprises...how I react to them is up to me!

Have a wonderfully blessed day,
Hugs,
Wanda

Oh no, you got that "S", well seeing it's not suppose to last long hopefully your garden will survive. We are suppose to see 87 today, thankfully the humidity has been on the low side and the apartment is staying comfortable without AC running. Maybe you just needed some just relaxing time. Enjoy your weekend no matter what.

Hugs,
Shirl

Smile...life is awesome!

Saturday, May 29, 2010

It's the last Silly Saturday day for the month of May already! I like Silly Saturdays. I enjoy checking out the the challenge to see what bits of laughter have been left for the rest of us to enjoy. There is nothing like finding a moment in your day to share a smile, a chuckle or an outright laugh!

I managed to ignore the cat for a couple of extra hours this morning. She of course, did not see why I was not getting up at my usual time...her breakfast time in her world. She eventually decided that if I wasn't going to get up and feed her (her dish had food in in, but she won't eat if someone is not in the kitchen with her), she might as well make my lying in bed a tad uncomfortable. She proceeded to lie on top of me. This way every time I made a move, she was ready to jump up and have breakfast! Crazy cat!

It's raining again this morning. We've gone from extremely dry ground conditions to seemingly "always" wet conditions. The grass is sure a lovely shade of green now though and the leaves are fully opened on the trees. So far, my outdoor plants are surviving the dip in temperature and managing to still look alive. YAY!

Garry has today off work, so I think we will be having a lazy day...no yard work, in otherwords due to the weather. We'll most likely head into the city for shopping for things, but other than that...just a nice lazy day!

My Positives:
The lovely shades of green that have replaced the dry, brown colors outdoors.
Time to spend with Garry.
A couple of extra hours of lying in this morning.
Laundry almost finished.
Kaeli will be home tomorrow.
Life...it's just filled with blessings!

Have a wonderful Silly Saturday, take the time to find those moments of smiles, chuckles and laughter.

Hugs,
Wanda

May 28

Friday, May 28, 2010

We are closing in on the end of yet another month and heading into the half way mark of the year...wow!

Quin has been busy the past few days packing up all his supplies and gear to head back up north to his job as a fishing guide. The lake is completely open, which is about a month ahead of schedule! He has already sent some of his gear up with his boss and now tomorrow will head to Saskatoon to meet up with a client. His client is bringing his boat and has hired Quin to assist him in getting his boat on the lake and to the lodge. It will take them about 5 days to get there. I'm sure they will do some fishing along the way! lol
One of his fellow guides spent the night here last night on his way up north. Nevin and Quin have worked together for the past 2 or 3 years. It interesting to see the two of them together. Just like kids at Christmas time...excited about the up coming season.

My positives:

Got some of my garden planted yesterday after work. Still more to plant, but that may not occur until Sunday as we are supposed to get yet more rain today and tomorrow. The temperature has dipped to only +2 last night, so am hoping the my plants are okay.
It's Friday!
Kaeli will be back from her holiday on Sunday.
A great sleep last night, I'm feeling ready to tackle the day this morning.
On track with my goals.
Being so incredibly blessed with all that I have.

Have a wonderfully fabulous Friday. Thank you for stopping by and reading my blogs. Your comments always give me such a blessing.

Hugs,
Wanda

I cant agree with you more when you say that you are so incredibly blessed by what you have. I find that the more I look at my life the more that thought becomes a constant rather than a positive.

Hope you have a great weekend. we are going to Indianapolis for the 500!!!
