Holiday Monday !

Monday, May 24, 2010

Well, it's holiday Monday here and it appears that there is a possibility of some sunshine. I sure hope so, yesterday was so cold and miserable outside that we once again were not able to get any further work done on the garden. Perhaps today will be different. This long weekend was even too cold for our son. He came home yesterday from camping!

Shy came over for dinner last evening and to watch the finale of "lost". An interesting ending to the show, basically it was brought full circle. So now that I'm done with TV watching for the next few months, I can now concentrate on other things. Not that the amount of tv watching I do is really a determent anyway! lol

My positives:

Having a long weekend off of work. Time to relax my eyes from all the computer work that I do.
Although, gardening work has not been able to progress, we have accomplished other projects in the house.
Email from our granddaughter yesterday.
Possible sunshine today.
Life...I'm always so blessed each day.

Hope you are working on having a great day also.

Hugs,
Wanda

    Wanda
I checked out the weather network for here and we will be having lower than average temperatures right till the end of May. This is so "not good". I did plant a row of lettuce in my raised garden and I planted two Roma tomatoes and one cherry tomato.
Oh well, I hope their reports turn out to be wrong. My positives: went for my walk, am going to work on my nutrition for the week. Have a good Monday! emoticon emoticon

Arrrggggg!

Sunday, May 23, 2010

It's still raining outside...I want to get my raised garden bed finished! The blessing...the ground is now softer and will be easier to work with, the downside...it will be very muddy and it's only 5 degrees outside. That rain is cold as well as wind the is blowing is not pleasant. Oh well, with these temperatures, we can't plant the garden anyway.

Shyra will be coming over later today for supper and to watch Lost (the finale) with me. YAY! Kaeli is in Vancouver, and Quin has gone camping for the weekend! (crazy person lol)

Seeing as I can't spend the day doing gardening related things, I'm going to make a start on cleaning out the computer/craft room. We have all the new flooring, just haven't made a start on it yet. We need to tear out the old yucky carpet first, which means the room needs to be emptied out. Hmmmm, wonder how far I'll get today!

My Positives:
Despite not being able to do the gardening things I had wanted today, I do have other ways of constructively occuping my time. lol
Shyra coming over today.
My tomato seedlings are still doing well. A little droopy, but I believe it's just all the water they absorbed from the rain before I brought them in the house again.
The world looks so lovely and green. Nothing like a rain shower to clean things up either.
Time for meditation today.
Our lives are so incredibly blessed. From just waking up in the mornings to the day being filled with wonderful joys.

Hope your day is filled with lots of blessings. Remember they don't have to be big blessings all the time, the little ones count too!

Hugs,
Wanda

You are correct, our lives are so incredibley blessed if we only pause to look at everything around us.

On the flip side, it's 83F here already and we are trying to get some flowers planted before it gets to 90F. I forgot I could sweat this much!!

Hope you have a great Sunday and enjoy Lost

A typical May long weekend

Saturday, May 22, 2010

It's another typical May long weekend...cold and miserable! Rained all day yesterday as well as still through the night. But hey....at least it wasn't snowing like it has been all around us!!! The temperature is on the cold side, I even had to turn the furnace back on last night and put an extra cover on the bed. Still overcast this morning, but weather person says, temperatures are supposed to warm up some and we are supposed to get sunshine by Monday. All I care about is being able to get my garden finished and planted if possible! I just shake my head at the crazy people that are going camping this weekend...brrrrrr! It is the first long weekend that technically heralds in summer, so I do understand people wanting to get summer activities under way...heck, I'm doing it too, but mine is gardening! lol

Thank you to all that have kept Geff and his wife Sandy in your prayers. Sandy is doing better and is now under the care of a great neurologist, who wants to get to the bottom of all her symptoms.

My Positives:
Possible shopping trip with Shyra either today or tomorrow...she issued the invite yesterday. YAY!
Sandy is doing better.
Although the wind broke one of my Dahila's, at least I was able to get the rest of my plants into protection from the wind and cold before they got damaged.
A long weekend...YAY, Monday is a holiday.
Kaeli is flying to Vancouver, BC this morning and getting an opportunity to help her best friend pack up for her move. Julie is like another daughter to us. She and Kaeli have been best friends since they were 8 years old. Julie and Mike are expecting their first child next month. They have been transferred to Kamloops BC, hence Kaeli going to help out. We are excited about them moving to Kamloops, as it's only a day's drive away now.
Time to spend catching up with everyone today.
God and all the blessings that He bestows on this family.

Have a wonderful Silly Saturday, don't forget to make laughter part of your day.

Hugs,
Wanda

Hope you are able to get your garden planted before long. We have been having lots of rain too and a couple of freezes this month...amazing and strange weather!!! I am looking forward to a long weekend next week. Yippee!!!
Love your positives..what holiday is Monday for you? Hope today stays quiet...with the rain McKenzie's game for this morning has been canceled but I will be going to her talent show at church tomorrow. Those little ones have so much talent and are not yet "afraid" of crowds...at least for McKenzie.
Have a wonderful weekend and a fantastic next week!
Blessings and hugs,
Helen

It's cool here!

Friday, May 21, 2010

Wow, have the temperatures ever dropped. It's been raining almost the entire day yesterday and all night. Still raining this morning and the temperature has dropped from a high of 31 two days ago, to only 8 today. Brrrrrr. Kathy, send me some of that nice warm Florida weather! lol

We are supposed to get sunshine tomorrow...I hope so, I want to get my garden in. Oh well, it's a general thought around here that we usually get snow the May long weekend, so I'll settle for just rain and cool temperatures! lol

Please keep my co-worker Geff and his wife Sandy in your prayers. Sandy had a "very" minor stroke on Wednesday and then yesterday it appears she may have had a more serious one. They have two young daughters at home who have already been through their Dad have serious heart issues already this year.

My Positives:

It's FRIDAY! YAYAYAYAYAYAY.
The rain, the ground is so in need of the moisture. It's helping out the fire situations around here greatly.
Spending time with my girls and son.
Although very busy at work, I'm blessed to have a job.
A much better sleep last night, no being woken up at 2:45am by a bunch of kids shouting and laughing outside. (Makes one wonder how come the parents of those young people have no clue where their child is)
Food, warmth, a soft bed, shelter...all blessings that we often take for granted.
Having God in my life, knowing that I am being guided.

Have a wonderful day, keep on moving forward. Life is wonderful when you look at the blessings that you do have and stop worrying about what you don't have.

Hugs,
Wanda

Wanda praying things will be ok for Sandy. We are cooler here today, also, but they are saying mid to high 80's this weekend. Good luck with your planting projects. My internet is back to misbehaving, once again, glad I got done what I did the last two days. I am still thankful I have a computer and am still connected even if it is slow going. Have a wonderful weekend. The fire that was closet to my where my sister lives has now been completely contained, thankful for that, hope they have been able to contain the ones in your area.

Hugs,
Shirl

Positively blessed.

Thursday, May 20, 2010

I'm thinking that I'm going to be very happy as the end of this work week arrives. We are so incredibly busy at work, then throw in the fact that we are busy at home too...the weekend can't come soon enough! lol

It's a good thing that I do my blogging first thing in the morning, by the time I get home from work...it's just not happening. My apologies to the team for my lack of being around these past few days. It will get better as things slow down a bit.

I've finally found a dentist that actually has left me looking forward to my next visit! I didn't think that was possible. I have such a fear of dental offices. My experiences have not been good ones. But the positive of that, is that my fear has keep me flossing and taking care of my teeth myself diligently so that I don't have to have anything done at the dentists. Yesterday it was time to get a cleaning done. For the first time ever, I had someone who explained things, who used a gentle hand and who also used some automated equipment to help her do her job. As a result the amount of time that I had to keep my mouth open was lessened considerably. This is the first time that I have been able to walk out of the dental clinic without severe pain in my jaw joints!! I'm actually looking forward to going back for my next checkup!! I do have to go back next month to have a molding done of my teeth so that a night guard can be made for me. I have been clenching my jaw at night and hopefully this will help to keep my teeth from being damaged any further. A couple of my teeth are showing signs of cracking from the pressure. I didn't realize how bad the clenching was until lately. I've been waking up with tensed facial muscles and sore jaw joints. Got to practice letting go and relaxing before going to sleep.

We had cloudy skies most of yesterday and by the time I was done at the dentists, we were getting more rain. It's a nice gentle rain though, so it is soaking into the ground. Yay!...this will make doing the digging we need to do in the back yard much easier.

My positives:
Finally found a dental clinic that is very good.
A great check-up...no majors problems that a night guard won't fix.
Rain.
Lots of laughs at work yesterday. Thank you Lord for laughter. It sure relieves stress!
Life...what a blessing!

Hope you are finding your blessings in the day. Be open to receiving and you will receive.

Hugs,
Wanda

I like PALEAN's comments and agree, but we also need to remember to thank our heavenly Father for the blessings we receive. I am thankful to Him for this site and the great people I have connected with and for this great team. Wanda, don't feel bad because you have had to cut back a little, it sounds like your work load has been pretty heavy and you need to let your eyes have a rest from the computer screen. Glad your dental visit was a good one. When you get home this evening take some time to relax.

Hugs,
Shirl
