Sad day yesterday

Friday, May 14, 2010

After writing my blog yesterday and before leaving for work, I checked my home emails. One subject line caught my attention and I immediately opened it. My heart ached and the tears flowed as I read the email.
A dear friends youngest son had died the night before as a result of a quading accident. Jordan was only 21. I won't go into further details, but if you would keep Louise and Brian and family in your prayers, it would be appreciated.

Space is at a premium now in our department. We have multiple carts of books lined up waiting to be received, processed and catalogued. In some cases then to be re-boxed as they are material for the new library. It's like playing human tetris as you come into our department. It's exciting at the same time it's overwhelming. We are on countdown now to the big move. September 17th we receive the keys to our new library and then we close the month the of October at our present location in order to make the move. It will be so nice to have space once again. Our new library will be double the space that we have now. It will be almost 64,000 sq feet! Our library is so well used and our patrons are just excited as we are. Our bookmobile has finally after a year of retro-fitting, got it's new bus on the road. This bus lowers to the ground and also has a ramp to accomodate those in wheelchairs, with walkers or Mom's with strollers. They have now added in some of the Senior's homes as well as some of the daycares. They have gone from operating 4 days a week to 5 days with more stops included in each day. We are expanding!!!

My Positives:
I can hug my kids each day and tell them I love them.
Mump and Smoot ....an evening of entertainment tonight.
Dinner out with friends.
It's Friday!
Massage day tomorrow.
Working on getting my raised garden bed created this weekend.
Although I had trouble falling asleep last night, I am wide awake this morning.
My life is blessed in so many ways.

Have a wonderful day, keep on moving forward towards your goals...you are worth it!
Hugs your loved ones today.

Hugs,
Wanda

I will keep your friends in my prayers. Also, when I read about your work, I so enjoy it (love the comment on human tetris as I could totally visualize it). Sounds very exciting!

It never ceases to amaze me how we seem to only stop and appreciate all that we have when tragedy occurs. I include myself in this observation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your friends.

Love

Wanda, I will keep your friends...and you...in my prayers during this time of grieving. :(

The new library soounds so exciting! I usually buy my books (my OCD about not knowing who held the library book last) but a friend loaned me books on CD and I love listening to them in the car...so this weekend I'm registering at the local library...and to think it's at the top of my street! :) No excuse...plus I'll add steps to my days!

Asking G*d to hold you all in His hands.

This week is just whizzing by...

Thursday, May 13, 2010

When I woke up this morning, I realized that it is already Thursday! Guess that is what happens when you are so busy at work. I have been making some head way with the stacks of orders on my desk, but yesterday it felt like a draw. Every time I got one stack done, another filled it's place. lol

I've been staring at my computer screen so intently as I've been entering orders all week, that by the time I get home from work...looking at the computer screen at home is the last thing I want to do. So bear with me as I have not been as attentive on the team as usually. My eyes are just so tired. I've actually had to force myself to stay up until 9pm the past couple of nights! When I have gone to bed, it's been right to sleep and sleeping until it's time to get up at 4:30am. I'm not complaining....I've just noticed as it is unusual for me not to be waking up several times a night. Woo Hoo...sleep...ahhhhhh!

My Positives:
Sunshine and warm weather....I'm able to sit out on my back deck and enjoy some relaxing time after work each day.
A busy week at work.
Took the time yesterday to go and get some much needed groceries. Now I have a lovely pita and fixings for lunch today (tomatoes, cucumbers, alpha sprouts etc.)
Fruit in the fruit bowl.
Found a new item at the grocery store yesterday that I wanted to try. It's an Uncle Ben's Rice and Sauce in a "to go" container. It's a nice alternative to my usual lunches at work. It will make a nice meal at 370 calories!
Friends and family.
Tomorrow evening we go for an evening out, dinner first and then a theatre performance by Mump and Smoot. Should be a fun time.
Life and all it's abundant blessings.

Hope you are planning on creating a wonderful day for yourself. You have the choice!

Hugs,
Wanda

Lots of positives! I always like to go to the grocery store to buy the produce and good stuff to re-stock after being gone. Just one of those comforts of home.

May 12

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

A mixed bag of weather yesterday, but the day ended with lovely sunshine to enjoy. I came home from work and it was nice enough to sit out on my back deck and enjoy some quiet time. The leaves are just beginning to appear on the trees, so it won't be long before I can listen to my "ocean sounds" as the breeze rustles the leaves. We are supposed to be getting lovely weather for the next few days. I'm ready for summer to appear!

Busy day once again at work. I don't mind though...I look on it as a good sign...job security...lol.

I phoned Garry's aunt yesterday to wish her Happy Birthday for today, and realized this morning that I forgot to tell her that amongst all our conversation! I will have to send her an email today! We had tried to see them while we were away on holidays, but unfortunately the window of time we had, they weren't home. Oh well, as I told her yesterday...this just means we will have to come their way again! We love visiting with them.

My positives:
Family and friends.
Being busy at work.
Sunshine.
The leaves on my trees in the back yard.
A great sleep last night.
My strength exercises are done.
Life....how blessed we all are.

Have a wonderful day today...keep your mind on the goals you have set for yourself and don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back for working hard to obtain them.

Hugs,
Wanda

aahhh - the weather! We're in a cold wet patch - it had been warmish and dry as a bone. As soon as the rain stops I am going to run right out and start yanking weeds (they come out really easily then) ... here's to some wonderful weather coming our way real soon!

Yep, when I have a yucky day at work putting out fires and whatnot, I remind myself that it's job security. There will always be problems and I'm pretty good at finding the source and resolving them. Have a wonderful day as you seek to find the top of your desk!

Having a positive attitude

Tuesday, May 11, 2010

What a day yesterday! My first day back at work after having 10 days off and I'm thinking it is going to be at least the end of the week before I see the top of my desk! lol

Got in to 123 emails, most of which I will have to deal with one at a time as they contain orders sent down from my selectors. One of which I needed to deal with by 10 am yesterday morning! We have a new group of summer students that started yesterday and being the safety person at work, it's my job to orient them as to all the safety procedures! Oh Yeah, my first day back, a desk that is buried under paperwork and a 45 minutes (unexpected) safety tour with a designated time! lol
I don't mind doing the tours honestly, just hadn't known that one was planned for my first day back at work.
I really need to go and get some groceries soon. All the fruit and veggies are gone as well as the milk....good thing there was a YOP in the fridge this morning! I grabbed the last banana too. The guys are going to have to fend for themselves this morning! lol

My positives:
Safety tour all done...amazing what having a good attitude will do for you when you go to work. I made the decision before leaving for work yesterday that I was taking a good attitude with me and I reminded myself that I was only one person and what needed to get done would get done!
I got the last banana this morning (hee, hee, hee)
A nice reminder that this Friday evening we are going to see a performance by Mump and Smoot! Very macabre clowns, but very funny.
I had a great sleep last night, so ready to face a day at work with a positive attitude once again.
Life...it just keeps getting better and better.

Have a fantastic day today, keep on finding your blessings, share a positive attitude with those around you.

Hugs,
Wanda

Positive attitude is surely the key and is always a choice. Thank you for reinforcing that fact consistently and constantly. Can always bear repeating!
Love you.

Yeah - you're back safe and sound! Glad to hear you're doing all the tomatoes and going to try potatoes (I haven't been successful with potatoes yet but my friend just pops them into his soil and we get lots to eat ... so I do it is possible). I am going to try to bank soil around mine using old cotton pillow cases to hold it around the leaves in pots on my roof. I just put 6 into some rich composted soil in the allotment. Time will tell!

Glad you are back!

First and foremost.......... Glad you are back!!!

I have always held the theory that we need to schedule a vacation to recover from our vacation!! You get a large gold star beside your name for looking at it from a positive view point. It makes the day go by so much smoother and we are not grabbing for a bottle of Advil to soothe our headache.

Have a terrific Tuesday

Love

May 10 and back to work

Monday, May 10, 2010

It's back to work for me today. I've sure enjoyed having the past 10 days off work. A time to concentrate of things other than work related things. A time to visit with family and friends and time for just Garry and I.

Thank you to everyone who kept things going in such a wonderful way while I was gone. You have no idea how much it meant to me to have others so willing to be there.

Shyra tells me that the top of my desk may not see the light of day for awhile, so am prepared to be busy at work. I'm going in with an attitude of gratitude this morning...I have a job, I have work to do, and I am blessed. I will do what I am able to do each day and eventually the top of my desk will reappear!

My Positives:
Time off to spend recharging and seeing family and friends.
My tomato seedlings are all up and thriving. I can hardly wait to get them to transplanted into containers and the garden.
A wonderful Mother's Day.
Despite having a restless night last night, I'm raring to go this morning. (now ask me how awake I am by noon, that might be a different story, lol)
Life...it is so filled with daily blessings.

It's great to be back and I'm looking forward to actually catching up with all of you. Have a wonderful day, find your blessings and positives and keep on moving forward.

Hugs,
Wanda
