I'm Back!!!

Sunday, May 09, 2010

I'm back! Now I need to catch up on all that has been happening on the team while I was gone. I know that my mail box is overflowing! lol.

We had a great time, rushed as most holidays can be. We managed to find all sorts of weather from snow to rain to severe wind storms to sunshine. We hit it all and despite the weather, we had a great time.

We had a great time with the friends we met up with in Kelowna. The girls hit the stores and the guys hit the golf course. Weather was cool and threatened to rain, but didn't stop the golfers!
We spent a couple of evenings playing canasta (guys against the girls, naturally). Lots of laughs and creating great memories. We toured the gated community where our friends live and got some information for further and future consideration. A return visit will be in order as we ended the canasta games with a tie....next time the girls will be victorious! lol (can you tell we are very competitive??)

Carol and Terry our gracious hosts

Sunday saw us heading to Sardis to see our granddaughter. We had a wonderful time with them. Pouring rain and the wind was blowing something fierce, but that didn't stop the fun.

Grandpa, Shavon and Grandma (my camera for some reason started taking things with a yellow tint...not sure what changed in my camera, but I need to find out)

We headed back to Penticton to meet up with cousins. We had a great time there also. Ended up spending some extra time there as we wanted to look around a couple of the smaller towns as possible retirement places. Found our dream home in Summerland...now we just need to win the lotto!

Wanda and her cousins

We managed to hit some lovely snow heading back home through the mountains. Not an unexpected occurance at this time of year.

Traveling at the time of day that we traveled, did mean that the roads were at least wet as opposed to frozen!

We spent a leisurely time making our way back home. We stopped at the big Bass Pro Shop on the outside of Calgary on the way home. They have developed a huge mall in conjunction with the Bass Pro store. We were amazed at the development that has occured there in the past year.

One of the nicest malls we have been to for some time. The sculptures throughout the mall were wonderful and of course Garry needed to have his picture taken with this one!

Well, it's great to be home. Back to work tomorrow morning for both of us. Shyra tells me that I will be busy were I get back...my desk is piled high! Oh Yeah!

I'm off to check out the postings and blogs.
Thank you to John, Shirl, Nancy and everyone else that kept the team active while I was gone. I'm looking forward to reading all about it.

What a wonderful journal of your travels, pictures and all! We have a Bass Pro Shop in Phoenix, so you are welcome to come on down! It's only 82 degrees today! Now THAT'S retirement weather! emoticon

See ya all when I get back!

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Quick blog this morning before I leave for work. We hope to get away right after work today and I'll be back May 10.

Wouldn't you know it, the route we had planned on taking has travel advisory warnings. Yesterday and today it started snowing in the southern part of the province. We had a phone call from BIL last night to see if we were going to chance coming. Said we would know more this morning if we were coming that way at the beginning of the holiday or on the way home. We might end up going the northern route to BC as all we have is rain!

Much needed moisture so not complaining.

My positives:
First aid training is done for another 3 years...I'm all re-certified!
Just today's long meeting to get through and then holidays.
Although I didn't sleep well last night, I know that I will tonight.
Looking forward to seeing family and friends that we haven't seen in a long while.
Sore muscles from all the practicing we have done over the past couple of days with CPR, but it's a good sore.
My to do list is almost complete! (providing I don't think of more to add to it! lol)
God, who will travel with us and keep us safe.

Have a wonderful day and I'll see you all when I get back. I'm going to have all my email from SP held while away, so may have to reconnect with everything later not sure. But I know my mail box won't be able to handle it all.

Hugs and stay safe.

Heading into day 2 of....

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Heading into day two of First Aid training and my muscles are sore from all the CPR and up and down off your knees training from yesterday. At least when this is done, I will once again be certified for three years. It's amazing how often I've re-certified over the years, and still each time I go, there is something else that clicks into place or a new way of doing things has been devised.
I am now able to assist you using an AED should you ever require the use of one. They are amazing little machines that will shock your heart into a regular rhythm again. Very user friendly. Look out world...I'm ready for you!! lol

It was a very long day yesterday and will be another one today. Then I just have tomorrow to get through and then some much needed time off work.

My positives:

An employer who supports it's employees and ensures that we are safe.
Car pooling.
The opportunity to take First Aid training, and get paid to do it!!
God, who is filling me with energy and strength daily.
As much time to get what needs to be done, done.
Blessings that flow into my life on a daily basis, from the person that shares a smile with me to having a warm, soft bed to crawl into each night.

Have a wonderfully blessed day. See how many blessings you receive today, just by looking for them.

Think of all of that up and down on your knees as exercise. It takes a lot of energy for me to get up from the floor at 42!! Luckily I don't break a sweat doing it yet.

It's awesome that your employer will allow you to take this training on work time. You never know when the time will come that you will be able to use those skills.

I'm afraid that I would expire before you made it to Texas, but your neighbors will benefit greatly from your new skill set. Sounds like you are in a nice peaceful place of gratitude. (setting a nice example) Have a good day learning how to administer that first aid. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

A day or refreshing...

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

Today I head out the door for work at my usual time, but will only sit at my desk for just over an hour before I have to leave for the first day in a two day First Aid training session. It's time to renew my certification. There are 11 of us going from work, so we are car pooling.
Garry came home last night to inform me that he is taking my vehicle this morning to have it services in preparation for our trip. I will need to take his car this morning. Better today than tomorrow, and at least it will be done. It will be a tight squeeze this morning with the car pooling, but we'll get it handled.

My list of "to do's" seems to be getting longer everytime I turn around. All these things that must be taken care of before leaving on holidays. Paying bills, laundry, packing, cat food etc. Everytime I think I can cross one thing off, something else gets added to the list!! Go figure, lol.

My positives:
Only 3 more days of crazy schedule...then time off.
I'll be re-certified for another 3 years with my first aid after tomorrow. YAY!
I've managed to get almost to the bottom of my in basket and hopefully will before leaving on holidays. It will be full, I'm sure, when I get back again!
Life...it's just filled with so many blessings.

Have a wonderful day, make wise choices in all that you do. Remember...You are worth it!

Be sure to prioritize those to-do's so you know which ones HAVE to be done before you leave. I'm guilty of adding a few extras that don't get done until after the trip. Don't get stressed as you prepare to leave and have a great time on your trip.

Morning is dawning...

Monday, April 26, 2010

I'm beginning to see the first slight bit of light on the horizon as I wake up in the mornings now! The days are getting longer.

It was an off and on day with the sunshine yesterday. It seemed like the day couldn't quite make up it's mind whether to be sunny or clouded over. No rain fall, but it did attempt to drop a few snow flakes! Nothing that left it's self known though.

It's motivation Monday and already I'm geared up for a busy week. Tuesday and Wednesday I'm in all day First Aid training. I'll come away with another 3 year valid certification which is good. Thursday is an all day Emergency Planning meeting. Not quite sure how I'm going to fit a regular work day into all of that, but I'm just going to trust that what needs to be done will get done and the rest will be fine to wait until I get back from holidays. No stress!!!

My positives:
A visit with our girls yesterday.
A Visit with our son.
A very lazy day to relax in and recharge our batteries.
Got some things done that needed completion.
A wakeful sleep last night, but still feel rested this morning. (You know, one of those sleeps where you feel like you aren't quite asleep)
Lighter sky on the horizon this morning as I got up at 4:30 am.
Positive attitude.

Have a wonderfully blessed day, plan to have a great day.
