April 20

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

We had an absolutely gorgeous "summer" day yesterday. The temperatures made it up to 23. Sun was shining and people were wandering around in shorts.

The weather is supposed to remain like this for a couple more days, before dropping down to seasonal norms with some much hoped for rain in the forecast.

Another busy day ahead of me at work. I'm attempting to get as much of my ordering done as possible this week . Next week, I have two days away from the office doing First Aid training and then the following day I'm in an all day Emergency Planning meeting and then away on holidays. Very short work week next week. (well work week as far as the ordering part of my job goes!)

My positives:
My kitty's sneezing seems to be getting a bit better. Poor little girl has been having issues with sneezing for the past few days.
Beautiful sunny days.
Did I mention...holidays coming up! lol
Waking up this morning and knowing that I have a day ahead of me to fill with great choices.
Friends and family, so very blessed.
Being alive!

Have a wonderful day, fill your day with great choices and enjoy the feeling of accomplishement.

Isnt life wonderful? There is so much to take in no matter where we are or what we are doing, if we just take the time to look.

Thank you for reminding us Wanda

As my hubby says...It's back to reality time!

Monday, April 19, 2010

Yep, it's Monday and time to head full speed ahead into a busy work week. We had our break, filled with lots of fun activities this past weekend. We recharged our batteries and now like the energizer bunny we are ready to go!

Yesterday was a very fun filled day for Garry and I. Started off the morning with Garry making his usual Sunday morning scrambled eggs and toast breakfast for the two of us. Lazed around for a bit, then headed out to wander around "Home Depot", looking at all the gardening stuff and Garry pricing out what it is going to cost us to build me my raised garden bed in the back yard. It's becoming fancier and fancier as he contemplates his plans. lol I'm excited to finally be getting a garden area.
We spotted a lovely little bistro set that was on at a great price, called the girls as they have been looking for a set they could afford. They came down to the store to meet us and yes, they bought it and Dad so kindly put it into the back of our vehicle and carted it home for them. I'm sure they spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying it as they sat out in the sun.
The rest of our day was spent just enjoying each others company and being lazy.

My positives:
Plans to meet up with family while away are firming up.
A wonderful weekend.
Batteries have been recharged and I'm ready to head back to work.
My tomato seeds are all planted into starter containers.
Found an "topsy, turvy planter for my tomato plants once they start growing. I'm going to try growing a couple of my tomato plants upside down. Some in containers and some in my new garden patch...maybe I'll have success with one of the methods! lol
Life...it's just so darn good!

Have a wonderful day, find your mojo and go with it.

Looks like we might get some rain!

Sunday, April 18, 2010

Woke up to grey skies this morning and it looks like there might be some rain in those clouds. Sure hope so, we really need it. The ground is so dry, the grass is still brown. Our county has a fire ban issued. I don't recall it ever being as dry as this since we've moved here.

Wonderful day yesterday. Kaeli and I hit the Farmers Market in Old Strathcona yesterday morning around 10 am. It was already packed with people and busy. Managed to pick ourselves up some great quiche pies for supper as well as some fresh produce. Kaeli stopped by the "olive" booth and picked up some olives filled with feta(her favorite). I picked up some Marinated feta with sun dried tomatoes. It will go nicely over a salad or pasta.

We headed home to drop things off, before heading to view the "Big Brothers and Sisters" dream home. We've all got tickets on the home and of course like everyone else, dreaming of winning it!
Then back into the city to the furniture store to look for a possible bargain for a new sofa for Kaeli. No luck, but it was fun looking.
All in all, we had a great day!

Shy choose to stay at home and have a sleep in, Garry and Quin tackled some yard work. Back yard looks great. Garry and Quin even measured and staked off a spot for my raised garden bed. YAY!
I planted all my little tomato seeds into starter trays and they are sitting proudly on my counter under covers. Hopefully I will have success. I'm anxious to get my carrots, beets, lettuce etc started in the garden. It's always been a rule of thumb that gardens don't get planted before the May long weekend in our area, but with the weather being over a month ahead of schedule...it's left me wondering if it really is too early!

My positives:

Garry is making a lovely breakfast for us.
Hopefully rain today.
All the house work is done, my seeds are started (at least the ones that I can).
A possible trip to the garden store to look at flower seeds.
A good book to read yet today.
A lovely serenity Sunday to celebrate.

Have a wonderful day, take time to re-charge your batteries before heading out into a new work week.

April 17

What a great workshop last night. I started out the evening cautiously and skeptical (not a bad way to go into things) and ended up going Wow! It was a very small group only 8 of us, so I think that might have made the difference in how much and what type of experiences we all had. I did not book a one on one session with Chris, as he was completely booked up for one on one's. I would seriously consider booking should he come back again. I have just as many questions now as I did going in, but they are all new questions! lol.
I'm one of those people that hates leaving loose ends, I to have everything figured out! Makes for a very interesting life. lol

Got home last evening around 11:30 pm to a phone message from a cousin that I haven't spoken to (other than email) for far too many years. We will get to see her on our brief holiday...yay!

This morning started bright and early, load of laundry on the go, been out the door to take Garry to pick up his car, now catching up here and I'll be heading out the door again in a few minutes to pick up Kaeli. We are heading into the city to the Farmer's Market. Then to the furniture store, as Kaeli wants to check out a new sofa, then more Girl time shopping! Not sure if Shy is coming or not, the morning might be starting to early for her. Love spending time with family.
Garry is going to putter around the house and do some chores he says.

I came home yesterday to a very lovely and clean house. Garry had a day off work yesterday and vaccumed all levels of the house, dusted, and cleaned out my fridge for me and cleaned the kitchen. Think I'll keep that man! What a wonderful treat to come home to.

My positives:

My husband, who on his day off, does things to make my life more wonderful.
Shopping with Kaeli (and possibly Shy)
A great and interesting workshop last night.
Learning that by stepping outside my comfort zone, is actually a very freeing experience.
Hearing Christine's voice for the first time in over 40 years.
A beautiful sunny day.
Life....it's amazing.

Have a wonderful day, let your inner child out to play and just have fun in life.
