As promised....

Sunday, March 21, 2010

As promised, here is an overview of my day yesterday at the Women's Wellness conference.

Started my day off by walking to the conference. It was about a 10 minutes walk from home. The air was nippy, but what a great way to start off the day.
The day began with a continental breakfast for all, followed by the keynote speaker. J'lyn Nye is a local TV/Radio station personality. A very inspirational and motivational speaker. It was nice to hear her story and how she made the choices to change her lifestyle and become a happier person. She left us with a great challenging question "are you truly happy (inside)with who and where you are in your life?" If you are not, then "now" is the time to begin that change, as we have no guarantee of tomorrow.

Off to my first session, I thought I had chosen Laughing Yoga, but I had chosen Humour as my first choice. I'm glad that I did. What a fabulous hour and half session. Giselle Yannish is a communications consultant and extremely funny. She talked about the need for humour in our lives and how it can affect our bodies healthwise. How humour helps not only at home but in the workplace. We did some exercises that created laughter and fun. A great session and a great way to kick off a long day.
After the first session, it was back to the gym to have lunch. What a wonderful selection that was provided by the culinary class at the school where the even was being held. They did an amazing job of providing for all tastes and over 500 people. There were sponsor displays to check out and gather more information from too. There was door prizes to be given out and at the end of the day the grand prize draw. Nope...I did win anything...but that's okay, I came away a winner from the experiences.
After lunch it was off to session 2 "Relaxation Therapy". Unfortunately not quite what I was hoping for. The presenter concentrated more on what stress is and how it can affect us (more the negative side of things) rather than tips or suggestions on how to relax and de-stress. Some interesting information, but again not what I had hope the session was going to be about.
This lead right into my third session "Energy Bubble". A great session, filled with lots of useful information. Hazel Butterfield was the presenter and operates her own business called Alberta Reiki here in the Park. She works with the person energy field and demonstrated how color can have an effect on our personal energy fields and ways that we can realign our own chakras through meditation and colors.

This brought us to the closing speaker, a young mom who has faced many challenges in her life and how she has chosen to live in the moment.

A wonderful day, with a lovely walk back home to round things off. Yes...I still managed to get 30 minutes of free step in on Wii.

My positives:
The opportunity to attend a conference basically in my own backyard.
Great information and motivational speakers.
Some great questions to contemplate and seek answers to.
A day of relaxation today to just unwind.

Have a wonderful day. Consider the question that I was asked ...Are you truly happy (inside) with who and where you are in life?

Hugs,
Wanda

    Serenely happy. Thank you.
Nice report. Sounds like a positive experience to be sure. It is only 39 degrees here this morning. Must be what they call an "Alberta Clipper". You can keep your Alberta air right up there with you , Missy! The sun has been given a chance to shine some of that cold away, so I'm gonna head out for a walk soon. (brrrrrr!) I'll bundle up.
Enjoy your day. And thanks again for bringing me a little taste of your conference.
Love,
Nancy

An Early morning start to my Saturday!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Even though I'm having an early morning start to my Saturday, I still got to sleep in 2 hours longer than normal. I'm out the door in a bit to enjoy, learn and hopefully come away with a positive experience at the Women's Wellness confernece today. It's finally here!

I'll try to drop in this evening to give you an update, but it just might be tomorrow morning.

Our son is involved with a Sportsman show that is taking place Thur-Sun in Edmonton. He has invited us to attend as his guests. He is so thrilled to be back in his "fishing" environment. He's like he's had an early Christmas.

Well, it's Silly Saturday, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the day brings.

My Positives:
Women's wellness conference to attend today.
Opportunities for learning and growing.
Getting to go to the Sportsman show this weekend.
47 days on my Wii Fit...even though I was so tired yesterday after a 9 hours day, I did get my 60 minutes of Free step in...very proud of myself for "just doing it".

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, have a wonderous day. Keep your eyes and heart open to receiving blessings.

Hugs,
Wanda

March 19

Friday, March 19, 2010

Yay, another Friday! An end to a work week and the beginning of a weekend.

Tomorrow is the Women's Conference. It starts at 8am and runs until 5pm. Should be a very enjoyable day.

The slushy wet snow that we got in the morning yesterday, stopped about mid morning. By afternoon, although the temperatures were much colder the ground was more wet than white.

My positives:
It's Friday.
Both Garry and I have been able to confirm some days off work together at the end of April. We are planning on going to see family in British Columbia. YAY!
I'm trusting the Lord about a situation at work.
I'm keeping up my Wii Fit streak...46 days now!
Life.

Have a Fabulous Friday, thank you for stopping by for a visit.

Hugs,
Wanda

WTG with that streak, keep it up. I could take some consistency lessons from you, I've really got to work on that, I keep losing and gaining the same pound, it's time to put a stop to that nonsense. Enjoy the conference and your weekend.

Hugs,
Shirl

March 18

Thursday, March 18, 2010

Our temperatures have taken a nose dive and it looks like spring might be put on hold for a bit. We are headed back down to minus 10 again. Just when we start to get used to warmer weather, Mother Nature plays a trick on us. It's trying really hard to snow, it's a sleeting mess outside at the moment. Oh well, suck it up princess and deal with it! The blessing...you know it's not going to last for long.

Got my 60 minutes of Free step in yesterday (even though I didn't want to do it when I started). I'm now on day 45 of a streak! Go ME!

What a nice surprise to come home yesterday, check the mail and find a wonderful card greeting from Shirl. A beautiful St. Patrick's Day greeting. Thank you, it brightened my day.

My Positives:
Keeping a nice busy pace at work, not overwhelmed, but steady.
Women's conference on Saturday to look forward to.
Waking up this morning knowing that I have the choice to exercise, eat healthy and be a positive person.
Friends and family.
Kismet, who lets me know each morning that she is glad I'm around. She eats her breakfast and then comes and spends time curled up on the desk by the computer while I spend time with all of you.

Have a wonderful day, keep on moving forward, don't give up your dream of being healthy.

Hugs,
Wanda

Hang in there. Better weather is coming!!!!

In the interim, keep singing the song from "Hair" - "Let the sunshine...let the sunshine...the sunshine in!!!!"

Have a wonderful day!

"suck it up princess and deal with it!" A little tough love this morning? I am sorry that your weather isn't treating you well today. Bundle up. (a little patronizing today, Nan?) I loved reading your appreciation of your kitty. I hate cats, but your appreciation of Kismet made me forget that for a minute. Have a wonderful day at work. Today is my lunch date. I'm looking forward to creating my vegan picnic to share. Thanks for choosing to be healthy and positive.

Nancy

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Are you wearing your green today?

I've got my green on and I'm ready to face the day. My Irish is out on full display. The Irish comes into the family on my Mother's side ( as well as the English). We are a regular heinz variety in our household. On my father's side Pennsylvania Dutch, with a wee bit of Scotish thrown in and then Ukrainian and Polish thrown in for good measure on Garry's side. The Ukrainian reigns the strongest as it's Garry's first language and still spoken at home.

For today though, we'll celebrate the portion that is Irish!

Yesterday, I had an email at work from Daughter #1, inviting me over last evening to watch "Lost" with them. Spent the evening visiting and enjoying each others company. Garry is not a Lost watcher, so chose to stay at home watching his race cars channel and rest his foot.

My Positives:
It's Payday! Yay...grocery time again. lol
Time with my girls.
More books on hold for me at the library...I've got lots of reading material again.
Beautiful sunny days. A nice rain to wash the winter dust away though would be great.
Warm weather for walking outside, and sidewalks that are cleared of all their ice. Yay, for having my Wii, although I'm trying to take at least a 30 minutes walk outside, I'm still being faithful to my Wii. lol

Have a wonderful day, keep working towards your goals.

Hugs,
Wanda

    Wanda,

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you, regardless of how Irish you are or aren't! Enjoy your walk, but don't forget your freestep. We don't want your Wii to scold you!

HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY TO YE!

Though 100% of Italian heritage, my birth name is Maureen (Maurizia's the Italian version) so I feel that gives me the right to be Irish today!

What a wonderful evening with your daughters! I'd have stayed home with Garry, but not watching race cars. Hehehehe....

Erin go bragh! emoticon
Hugs!

P.S. I have on my Irish mermaid pin; she's dressed in green with her GREEN margarita!

This is such a fun day, how could you not want to celebrate. No Irish on my side, but DH has it on his mom's side, but today I can pretend to be a wee bit of Irish, I have green nail polish on, Shamrock earrings and a Shamrock necklace and a green top to wear, no pinches for me, lol. Glad you had a fun evening of tv watching with your girls. Enjoy the day and a Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My freckles and red hair usually give it away for me, but I'm wearing my green. Funny though, I'm actually more than half french - my mother's genetics seem to be rather strong. My Dad is first generation American through his Dad's French and second generation through his mom's side. My mom had a wide mix with English, Irish, Scottish and French Hugenot.

Joan is just about 100% Irish so you can quite imagine that this holiday ranks right up there with the "other" major holidays.
