I've been waiting for the Women's Conference, it seems, for months now and suddenly I realize that it is this Saturday! Every couple of years our county sponsors a Women's conference, where you get to spend the day trying out different areas of interest from the spiritual to the physical and on to just plain learning something new. Each session last an hour and you get to pre-choose the sessions you want to attend. If you register early enough (hence why I've been waiting for months) you are more likely to get your first choices. I've learned the hard way that waiting means you get what ever is available. Not that the choices are great, but it's nice to have the choice.
Everything starts at 8 am with a breakfast and then a keynote speaker, who this year happens to be one of our local TV reporters J'lyn Nye. She will be addressing "The Courage to Change". Then my first session : "Humour...for the health of it!, 2nd session : Relaxation Therapy after lunch, then final session: Energy Bubble before listening to our closing speaker. It was difficult to make my choices this year as there were so many excellent ones to choose from. I'm exited about going and really looking forward to a day of learning and growing.

My positives:
Finally able to shed the winter coat and move on to a spring jacket!
It's been promised ...a sunny day today with temperatures of +14! Woo Hoo!
The snow is melting and there are wee specks of green showing!
Dental check-up was great...no problems!
Great sleep last night.
God in my life and the blessings I receive each and every day.

Hope you are having a wonderful day, thanks for stopping by.

Ides of March

Ides of March today...wasn't it just the first of March yesterday????

Another work week ahead, dentist visit this afternoon after work, a busy day.

Yesterday was a wonderfully relaxing day. Garry got to do some BBQing so he was happy. Nothing like getting outside and doing some BBQing as a sure sign that spring has sprung! lol

We had some sad news yesterday also. The people that we bought our house from (Garry also works with a family member of theirs) lost her battle with cancer yesterday. Such a young woman, only 44. She leaves behind two teenage sons and a husband. She was diagnosed just before Christmas. Prayers for her family would be appreciated.

My Positives:
60 minutes of free step in yesterday as well as some wandering around outdoors with Garry.
Having a Wii Fit...my inanimate toy keeps me motivated. It talks to me and scolds me if I miss a day! lol I'm on a 42 day streak now...I don't want to be scolded! lol
Sunshine, birds singing and a back deck that is now clear of snow. (notice I said deck, back yard is still full)
Dentist visit today...yes it is a positive...not my favorite place to go, but I'm blessed with dental coverage, might as well use it!
Having a co-worker that is a computer techie...I need to take my computer back to work with me today...my cd-rom isn't working. Hopefully, Jodi can look at it today...I need to install my income tax software.
God, who blesses this family daily.

Have a wonderful Motivation Monday, set your weekly goals...then just do them.

The word barbecue conjures thoughts of spring. That means warm weather is not to terribly far away.

Have a marvelous Monday

Spring is fast approaching, one of the ladies at church yesterday said she saw a Robin and a Red Winged Black Bird, spring is on it's way. Enjoy your week. Will put family in prayers.

    Hey Wanda,

Here's a positive for you: because I am diabetic, my dental insurance provides for cleanings 4 times a year. Wow - what a benefit. I decided to split the difference and do 3 a year, once every 4 months, to see how it goes.

Have a great week!

You can thank JEANLECUY for the fun. She posted this last Thursday or so and I was just getting caught up with her. Now that I can use more words. The moment of the Olympics that made me cry was Ice Dancing medal ceremony when the arena belted out your anthem. It was very moving. I love me some patriotism! And I meet you oceanside. Enjoy your Serene Sunday. I feel serene when I think about the gift of our friendship!

Serenity Sunday and all it holds.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

For some reason I had a difficult time turning off my mind last night and falling asleep. On the plus side...I have officially solved all the world's problems! lol

I set the clocks ahead before heading to bed last night, just one to do this morning and that is the chime clock. I didn't think Garry would appreciate me setting it ahead after he had fallen asleep last night.
He did get in to see the doctor yesterday and was informed that the gout in his foot (he has been battling it for almost 2 weeks) was not responding to the usual home remedies because it has become infected! He is on some antibiotics now and hopefully that will ease the painfully swelling. For some reason, he seems to always get gout in his one foot in the spring time.

An amazingly wonderful day yesterday, we had a beautiful sunny morning, followed by a snow flurry that lasted about 10 minutes back to a wonderfully sunny day. Got in some outdoor walking and even managed to get my vehicle washed.
A BBQ is planned for this evening. The snow has all melted off the deck and Garry is itching to get some BBQing done.

My positives:
Spring has sprung!
Dinner out last evening with my hubby...love the caesar salads at Kelseys.
42 days on my free step streak.
Connecting with Joan.
Making a start on getting the income taxes done.
A beautiful day, weather wise as well as just being alive.

Have a wonderful serenity Sunday, take the time to recharge your batteries and find your inner peace.

Sounds like a wonderful day! That BBQ sounds good. It's about warm enough here that we could do it one night this week. Have a great Sunday.

I 'm glad you're husband has what he needs to feel better. Gout sounds so painful! You would never hear the end of the whining if I had to go through it.
Enjoy your serene Sunday!

March 13

Saturday, March 13, 2010

What a beautiful sunny day to wake up to this morning. Usually when I get up, it's still dark outside and doesn't begin to get light until I'm at work for an hour or so. Today the sun was already shining when I woke up. The joys of being able to sleep in on the weekends! lol Although sleeping in for me is 7am!

Got home from work yesterday and it was such a beautiful day out that I was motivated to take a nice long walk outdoors. I love to be outside walking and with the sidewalks now mostly clear of dangerous ice patches, what a treat!
I even came home and made myself do 30 minutes of free step. I rather had to chuckle at my motivation to do the free step...that silly Wii keeps track of everytime you step on it and if you miss a day...it asks you where you've been! So far I have not missed a day in the past 41 days...now that I have such a lovely long streak going...I'm hesitant to mess it up. Talk about motivational pressure! lol
This morning, I'm out the door for my once a month theraputic massage. Because of a serious back injury a few years back and the fact that my job requires me to be working at a computer most of the day, having the massage is vital to maintaining my health. My therapist keeps my back from becoming massives knots and she also through cranial massage keeps my neck working properly. I no longer need to receive freezing injections in the base of my skull to keep the pain and nausea from being a part of my day. I highly recommend cranial massage to anyone who suffers from neck pain. I'm very blessed that our medical coverage covers my once a month treatments.

Garry is off to see if he can get in to see a doctor this morning. He has really bad gout in his foot and the usual treatment has not been working. He's had it now for almost 2 weeks. Prayers would be appreciated.

My positives:
My being able to have a monthly massage.
Sidewalks being clear of ice now so I can get outdoors and walk.
It's the weekend and my laundry is all done.
I believe that we are into Spring now....love the sunshine...can't get enough of it!
Next weekend is the all day Women's conference that I signed up for in January. I'm excited about attending.
41 day streak of doing free step on my Wii
I have a two days to relax in. Yay for weekends.
I'm alive.

Have a wonderful silly Saturday, keep smiling and enjoying life.

HA! Too true about the Wii. I feel like I am cheating on it if I don't do it for a day. Crazy, huh?! A 41 day streak! That is incredible!
Great positives and day!

I have to laugh with you and your Wii. It's obviously been wonderful for you. It's not exactly "peer pressure" when a machine asks where you've been... what is it when you're motivated by an inanimate object?!?!?! lol!

We'll be praying for Garry that he'll get to see a doctor and be able to get relief.

Enjoy your weekend.
