I have today off work and an interesting day it will be indeed.
I'm "bunny sitting"!

I'll be spending the day at my daughters home. Kaeli's poor bunny had surgery on Tuesday and Tuesday night she managed to chew open her incision, so back to the vet's she went yesterday. Unfortunately with the cone they put on her, she is unable to eat or drink without assistance as she can't bend her head enough to get at her food. She is not a happy bunny right now. As Kaeli had to work today, I offered to be a nice "grandma" and come and babysit. Bonus of all this...a day of totally being able to relax and spend reading or whatever I wish. I get to try out Kaeli's laptop computer, which is a little odd to type on as I'm used to a bigger keyboard, but this way I get to test drive a laptop before possibly purchasing one!

Garry has to go for his MRI this afternoon, so hopefully we will know what is going on in a few days.
I brought my crockpot with me this morning to the girls and all the fixings to make a great potato soup...supper will be ready for everyone by the time the girls both get home from work.

My positives:

I have my Fabulous Friday off and have the time to help out Kaeli.
I get to "test drive" a laptop computer.
Got my crockpot with me and all the fixings for potato soup.
Books, books, and more books for this weekend.
I have a plan in place to be able to continue to be motivated in my exercising. I've chosen to watch the news and do my free step at the same time! Yay me! So I'll be able to do either 30 minutes or up to 90 minutes depending on how much news I want to take in !
I'm looking forward to the blessings that this day will hold.

Have a wonderfully fabulous Friday everyone. Keep the motivation flowing.

Hugs, Wanda

We have a family of bunnies who nest in our front yard every spring. i have to put up little yellow flags to keep the lawn mower people from causing a tragedy. Our dogs go crazy. The real fun starts when the bunnies get old enough to move around. Then it becomes a contest between the bunnies, the dogs and me and Joan to keep yet another series of tragedies from occuring.

I hope your daughters bunny recovers soon.

Oh yum, potato soup, one of my favorites. What a great mom, bunny sitting and fixing supper for your girls. Enjoy your weekend. Hope everything will be ok with Gary. We made it to his eye appointment with 15 min. to spare, but was glad when we did get back home and that's probably were we'll be the rest of the day, it's not a real nice day out there.

I think that you should tell the news people that you only freestep to positive and encouraging news, so they should plan ahead for that. You may not be able to last 90 minutes if your news is anything like what we get here... lol.

Sounds like the makings for a relaxing day. Enjoy!

What a day for Canada!

Thursday, February 25, 2010

What an incredible day for Canada yesterday in the Olympics! 4 medals. 2 gold, a silver and a bronze. Very impressive.

I watched the women's finals in 2 person bobsledding last evening. A few heart stopping moments when some of the sleds crashed. I'm sure there is ice burn on a couple of those people! Ouch! It was amazing though to see Canada take both Gold and Silver in that event and congratulations to the USA in their bronze medal accomplishment. Actually when you consider the fractions of seconds that separated any of the athletes...they all made a wonderful showing.
Canada also beat Russia in the hockey game...so onward and upward for them. Women's hockey and the curling are doing very well also. Most of the events that I enjoy watching are almost done...guess I'll have to resort to watching hockey and curling now! lol

My positives:
Today is my Friday at work...I have tomorrow off work.
The financial support that our athletes have finally received this year is paying off. Here's hoping that it continues.
I've been doing my Wii exercises now for 25 days straight! woo hoo.
I'm sleeping so much better again, the exercising seems to really be helping that part out. Although I must admit...the dreams have been crazy!
I have an arm load of books waiting for me to pick up at the library....YAY...reading material for the weekend!
I woke up this morning...reason enough to celebrate.

Have a wonderful Thursday. Thank you for stopping by for a visit...keep your eyes on your goals and move towards them.

Hugs,
Wanda

I've really been enjoying watching the Olympics....a little too much, actually, since the TV coverage ends about 3 hours after my bedtime every night. I've really been enjoying them, but I'll also be glad when they end this weekend and I can get back to going to bed at 8:00 every night so that I won't be completely exhausted when I have to wake up at 3:30 in the morning to go to work. emoticon

In this country we tend to think that we've got the best of everything. We think that the US produces the best athletes, in particular, and a lot of the time this is true. But I've really enjoyed seeing some of the great performances by the Canadian athletes in these games, too. Of course I take the most pride in seeing athletes from the US win medals, but I've also been quite pleased to see some really great performances from our North American cousins from the frozen north emoticon

(I've also loved all of the really stunning pictures of your amazingly beautiful country.)

Canada has been doing well. If the U.S.A can't get the gold, it should go to Canada! :-)

Courage and Strength

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

What an inspiration Joannie Rochette was last night in the Olympics skating.
Here's is a young lady that under extremely emotional and difficult times, got the job done. She lost her mother 2 days before her competition and chose to honor her mother by going ahead with her skate. For those of you who may not know the story...Joannie's mother was her biggest supporter and fan. She had arrived in Vancouver to be there for her daughters skate competition and suddenly passed away in the hotel room of a heart attack. Joannie's determination to go ahead and skate took tremendous courage and strength. I was incredibly impressed and inspired by her.
How can I allow a bit of tiredness, an "I don't feel like it right now", or any one of the thousand excuses that can arise to avoid doing my exercises, be my choice in the face of such courage. An amazing young lady. I just pray that Joannie will be allowed the time to grieve free from the media now that her skate is done.

My positives:
I'm taking Friday off work...too many overtime hours and I need to whiddle them down.
Got an hour of free step in yesterday. I'm still on track with my exercises!
Kaeli's rabbit came through her surgery fine yesterday.
Busy day at work...I like being busy.
I'm working on a plan to keep me motivated with my exercise once the Olympics are over.
Going for groceries today...yep, that's a very positive thing! lol

Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone. Keep moving towards your goals.

Hugs,
Wanda

She did a wonderful job of skating a great program, her mother would be so proud of her, what an emotional time for her and her father. Glad the bunny came through the surgery ok. I am going to bed earlier tonight seeing there is no skating tonight, I have some baking I need to do tomorrow for Friday's coffee hour that I probably won't be here for as Clenton's eye appointment is at 10:15, if we go. Enjoy your evening and WTG with the exercising, you are doing great.

Wanda, glad the bunny did well with surgery. Hope s/he gets well fast!

How right you are about Joannie Rochette! What an inspiration for getting the job done...and she skated beautifully at that...I was shedding tears as I watched her...and I am so hoping she gets a medal for she certainly deserves one. What an amazing young woman!

As I hear stories of these Olympians and what they have experienced in their lives - at least some of them - there is not a doubt in my mind they belong there!

Though I must admit, my heart broke for the speed skater from the Netherlands who is disqualified because his coach sent him into the wrong lane. Geesh! I cannot even imagine what that feels like! To be so close to your goal...

Hugs...and boy, am I sore...doinog about 60 minutes of exercise every day while watching them...hope it becomes a habit for me...

Too Much or Too Little????

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

I woke up this morning with a chuckle. Either I'm doing too much exercising or perhaps my body is telling me I'm not doing enough!
I woke up from a "dream" of having either joined or started a walking club! Now this was not just the mechanics of starting a club...it was actually doing the walking! There was a group of us, we walked up hills (which by the end felt like mountains), we walked down hills, we did stairs, we walked along straight stretches. I'm not sure how far or how long I walked during the night, but when I woke up, I was tired! lol
So today, I'm going to need to call upon my angels for support and wakeful demeanor. I slept, I know that, but rested...hmmmm! lol

My positives:
I may have created a monster...my body craves exercise! Yes, this is a good thing, it shows that exercise is not killing me!
It's Marla's Birthday today. Happy Birthday Marla.
YAY Canada and USA...Gold and Silver in the pairs dance skating last night. Garry and I watched and we were very impressed with both couples routines.
Life...when you expect life to be good...it is!

Have a wonderful Tuesday everyone, make it a day to connect with those you care about.

Hugs,
Wanda

Your dream made me laugh. The fact that you were tired made me wonder if your legs were moving in the night at all. Funny.
I think your dream just demonstrates focus. How did you feel about all the walking while in the dream? That's where I think the clue would be.

I wonder how many calories you burned in your sleep! Can we measure that, do you suppose? I know that I am having TOO MUCH Olympics and TOO LITTLE sleep. I always tell myself that it's only once every four years, but this morning I am feeling the effect of last night's late night medal ceremony. I am glad that I watched. Everytime a Canadian gets a gold medal, it's so neat to hear the crowd singing "Oh Canada" with great gusto. Very cool.
Have a great day. I can't wait to hear news of your new walking club that you form in your waking hours!
Have a TERRIFIC Tuesday.
Love,
Nancy

Maybe you do need a little break in there somewhere, your body is stuck in the exercise mode, exercise is good for us, but I have to agree with Tina it does need a break once in a while, usually I take a break on Sunday's, well, it's suppose to be a day of rest, right. The ice skating was wonderful last night, I'd hate to be a judge. There is one thing that bothers me about the ones that didn't get the gold and think they should have and have to make cutting remarks about the winner of the gold, to me that's very bad sportsmanship, just my thought. I am looking forward to watching the ladies skate tonight, so it'll probably be another late night for me. Maybe you can find something to reenergize and wake you up today.

Hugs,
Shirl

I'm wondering if your body is telling you that you need a rest. I just read on SP that exercising 7 days a week isn't good because your body needs to recover. Just a thought. I don't want you to get hurt as a result of your working out so much.

Hope you have a great day!

Feb 22

Yay, time with my girls yesterday!
I started off my day with some quiet time, then headed downstairs to put in some free stepping time. Got in 90 minutes and then had a phone call from my girls wanting to know if I wanted to do some window shopping along Whyte Avenue in the city. SURE, why not....more walking, but this time outside in the beautiful sunshine! Just what I needed....some sunshine!
We spent almost 3 hours wandering up and down the Avenue, popping into stores and looking around. I'm excited now....Spring stuff is being put out! Yay, spring is on it's way!
The girls came over for supper and we sat around visiting. It was a great Serenity Sunday. Quiet time, exercise, healthy eating and family...what more can you ask for.

My Positives:
Lots of exercise, most of it outdoors in the sunshine.
Time with the girls.
A good night's sleep last night.
I'm mentally ready for another week at work.
God, who continues to have patience with me and guide me.

Hope you are planning on having a great day...it's your choice!

Thanks for stopping by,
Hugs,
Wanda

Glad you were able to enjoy such a nice Sunday and that you are ready to take on a new week. My daughter is now on our team and joining us on this journey to a healthier lifestyle, woo hoo! Charlotte schools got a snow day, today, so DD has a day off. The dance pairs were so good last night, I really enjoyed watching them even though it makes me stay up later, more skating tonight. Have a wonderful Monday.
