Surprises are so much fun!

Sunday, January 31, 2010

To say that Garry was surprised is an understatement! What a fun day we had yesterday.
Once Garry had woken up and had some breakfast, we headed out with only the instructions to Garry that he needed to stop at my bank for a minute. Once that was done, he had to head to get some gas in the vehicle, still not knowing what was in store. I just kept letting the suspence grow. When the vehicle was gassed up, I told him that his gift involved "parts". Part 1 consisted of him finding and choosing a table saw! Took a bit of convincing that this was "for real". Off we headed to the various stores to find just the right one. We hit the local stores first, but there wasn't anything that fit the bill, so we headed into the city. He found exactly what he wanted, not too big and yet would handle all that he needed to do. It was also the brand that he wanted and could be folded down for storage in the garage. Unfortunately, the store didn't have any more in stock and the floor model was missing a couple of parts. They offered to check their computer to see if some of their other stores had the model....YEP! and guess where....that's right...right back home where we started. The gentleman phoned the store as we had said we had just come from there and they didn't have any! Turns out they do have them, just not out on the floor. We headed back home again to our local store to pick it up. They asked if we could come back today, as they needed to get it from the warehouse. Okay, no problem....especially as it was also on sale! YAY, $100 off! So Garry will get his table saw and he is thrilled.
Part 2 was heading out for a lunch together. We headed first to Original Joe's, but even at 1:30 in the afternoon, the place was full, so we headed instead to Montana's Cookhouse where we had a very nice lunch. By the time we got home it was late afternoon, and Garry was one very happy person.
I love being able to pull off surprises! It was so much fun.

So far the predicted snow fall for this weekend has not really materialized. We've had a few attempts to snow, but nothing else. It's very dull and overcast though, but has been that way for the past couple of days...so who knows what today will hold.

I'm planning on having a relaxing day and just going with the flow. Garry says we just might head to St. Albert to have a visit with my brother and his wife...we'll see how the day goes. It's a lazy day!

Hope your plans for the day involved relaxation.

Have a great day,
Hugs,
Wanda

A fun day is planned!

Saturday, January 30, 2010

I've been keeping Garry in suspence about what he is getting for his birthday. His birthday was on Thursday, but I told him he wouldn't get his gift until today. I've been planning and saving for his gift for a year now. He has no idea what it is and has been making some very interesting guesses! lol
I knew he would have today off work, so have only told him that he must be available today and that he must be ready by 10am. I'll let you in on the secret....I'm getting him a table saw! He has wanted one for a long time and has been looking and looking, but just never felt he could afford to get one. He had borrowed one to do some of the renos, but with more renos planned, he really needs his own as he doesn't like to borrow other peoples.
Today we are going to choose one...I'm very excited about it.
We just might have enough left over to have lunch out also! WOO HOO.

No snow falling as yet, but we have been warned by the weather forecast to be prepared for a weekend of shoveling. I'm hoping that it doesn't snow until later in the day, but we've no control of the weather.

My positives:
Being able to keep Garry's birthday present a secret and to have saved enough to get one.
A fun day to look forward to.
I got in two sessions of 30 minutes each on the Wii Fit Plus yesterday.
A weekend to enjoy and relax in.
Laundry almost finished, only need to dry one load.
Surprising someone.
Life...I love how I can be a creator each day and know that it's my choice if I color my day bright or dark.

Have an awesome Silly Saturday. I'm off to have fun, hope you are too.

Hugs,
Wanda

Another successful family celebration!

Friday, January 29, 2010

Yesterday was Garry's birthday and we went out for supper to Boston Pizza. Because of everyone's differing schedules, we needed to be able to make a reservation some place...so we will save the new place to another time, as they don't do reservations.

We enjoyed ourselves immensely...it really doesn't matter where we go, we just have fun getting together as a family. I was good with my choices, water and the Baja salad. Higher in calories than I would have liked, but better than most of the selections on the menu.

I'm off to work this morning with a hopeful attitude. Ended up coming home after 4.5 hours of work as I had nothing to do. My selectors have not grasped the fact that they need to get their orders down to me. We have double the budget to spend this year and about 1/2 the time to spend it due to our location move in October. I'm hopeful that they have sent work down for today!

My positives:
Active members on our team.
Time off yesterday to have a nap before a late night.
Family time.
Kismet (my cat) seems to be feeling a bit better.
Although I didn't get an opportunity to do my Wii work out yesterday, I am not upset about it...I will make it up over the next couple of days by doing longer workouts.
It's Fabulous Friday!

Have a wonderful day, remember that you are worth having a healthy lifestyle.

Hugs,
Wanda

Yes I did get another color! lol

Thursday, January 28, 2010

In response to the question...yes, I did get another color! I asked for "white" just to be really different, and this according to the hairdresser is "white". I'm okay with it though, I like it. I did spot another color on one of the hairdressers later that I really loved and want to do the next time...turquoise!

Oh to be my age and finally become adventurous! lol

You brave woman, it looks nice. I've thought about highlights, but haven't been that brave, I know my GD would do a good job, but can't convice myself to just do it, maybe that's something I should reward myself with, hmmmm, have to think about that one. Enjoy your evening celebrating.

... it's lovely ... turquoise would be really nice too - one of my students has turquoise hair and it looks great (there's some brown streaked in as well).

I just KNOW you are going to LOVE Gayla's book ... she and her boyfriend did all the work on it ... his designs are subtly weaved throughout the book. I'm reading Marjories now and it's a lot of fun.

Jan 28

Thursday, January 28, 2010

It's Garry's birthday today and we are having another family celebration. Garry has chosen to go out for dinner, we are going to try a new place "Original Joe's", as they don't do reservations, we take out chances. If we can't get in as a group, we'll head out to somewhere else.

Yesterday was a great day, we saw the sun after it has been in hiding for the past 8 days! Oh sunshine, how much better everyone feels when it is shining.

I'm steadily working my way to a great workout routine. Shake things up every couple of days just to keep my body working. I do my morning strength exercise before work and then a minimum of 30 minutes on the Wii Fit Plus when I get home. It's great. This week, I've been trying some different exercises on the Wii...I have discovered that I'm very "uncoordinated" with some of them! The kung-fu one leaves me baffled...definitely not my forte. lol

My Positives:
Garry's birthday, which means a family get-together.
Got my haircut yesterday...the shaggy look has disappear and a much more presentable look has appeared.
The motivation to do my exercises.
The sun came out yesterday and is supposed to hang around today also.
It's almost the end of January, spring is coming closer!
Family and friends.
God.

Have a wonderful day, keep focused on the healthy lifestyle, even on those days where you just don't feel like it!

Hugs,
Wanda

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GARRY!

Wanda, enjoy your dinner! I'm taking John out for his b-day dinner this eve to Loie Fuller & Co., a new French restaurant in town.

53 days to spring...but who's counting???
