Happier .... Walking is a Gift.... no Sidetracks for 11 days!

Thursday, February 21, 2013

emoticon
Today was a bit chilly and I could hear the rain lightly falling. So I reminded myself I am prepared and will dress to still do my walk without letting the weather thwart my efforts. Every little victory is a Victory! emoticon

I am on Day 11 of my walking STREAK and I am so happy that I am getting out the door and not letting the tyranny of the urgent get me sidetracked. Sidetracked... that is when we move out of the path, and watch others do what we need to do.

emoticon Now is the time to spend on yourself. I used to think, other things were more important.

emoticon I am glad Spark People has shared so much great info, videos, stories, blogs, resources and support with funtastic folks like you all.

It feel so good to feel happy... I wish there was a emoticon for dancing a jig, because that is what I feel inside.... :happydance:

emoticon Walking is DEFINITELY a Gift!! And only we can give it to Us!! I see so many cases of people who do not take advantage of the Ability to Walk and they lose their Independence.
emoticon Congratulations on Your Streak!! You are Worth it!! Don't let ANYTHING or ANYONE get in your way! I even took my IV Pole and walked for 10 minutes in the Hospital Corridor the day I had Gall Bladder Surgery! Granted it was a VERY Slow Walk, LOL!!

walking clears my head

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

It is a beautiful day outside, though still cool, but just so nice to get out and walk in it.
I left later than usual because I was trying to figure out where I left my ipod as I wanted to listen to one of my favorite podcasts while I did my walk.

Went out the door without it. This is Day 9 of consecutive walking for 30 minutes or more. Today I did a brisk 47 minutes. Each day when I get out there, I am conquering my inclination to stay at home and do other things, so I feel like I have achieved good things when I overcome my weakness.

When I walk, it clears my head, increases my oxygen to the brain, Lol, and my body overall feels better. Problems I was dwelling on seem to disappear as I make my way on my route. I am distracted by the spring birds chirping and singing. I notice the buds forming on the trees and marvel at the color of the early crocus in bloom. The sky is fairly clear today of clouds and the sunshine is wonderful...

So many benefits to this walking effort and walking streak! It is giving me a positive lift, making me think of what other areas I might have a Postive streak on! emoticon emoticon

I love to walk too! I walk my dog everyday or rather she walks me where she wants to go. Either way I'm outside in the fresh air which does wonders for my mood and getting much needed exercise. Keep up the fantastic job!

Made it to Level 6

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

I know to many it may not seem like a big deal, but making it to the next level represents that I have committed to reading articles, people's blogs, exercising, tracking and being better at navigating this awesome website. I know I need to increase my exercise time and add points that way too. It is not enough to just read about everyone's progress but be a doer. So I am excited and feel that I am on track, and becoming a better and more fit me. I am happier because I have taken those steps.

I encourage others to take small steps to big goals in their life. It is energizing. And I am happy to have a streak going for me! emoticon

emoticon You are correct, it takes a lot of time but the information learned is priceless when you consider thte years it can add to your life expectancy. I am a health care professional and though I knew Everything Ha.. Ha... I have gained an amazing amount of updated information. I am learning more everyday and I appreciate the challenges offered aswell.

I use my laptop while I am working on the elliptical. It keeps me moving without realizing how tired I am getting. I feel really motivated while I connect to SP so this ly helps me burn more than normal. I never imagined I would reach the maximum level for my entire workout. Before SP I used music to workout and I would fatigue after 40 minutes but now I can go for over 2 hours.

Unfortunately I need to do more than cardio so I do strengthening for 46 minutes and 10 stretching.

Too much information, sorry! emoticon

11 min Seated Cardio work out

Monday, January 28, 2013

This morning I decided to try the Cardio work out with the video... I was so amazed at what I could do from a seated position... Not that I can't move about but I was curious.
Well, it was a great warm up for the rest of my day and I will use it again to keep myself from becoming stiff during the day.

I am enthused about this and want to share it.
