Today being Sunday, I was on my feet and moving for about 5 hours straight... preparing the congregational dinner and serving and then cleaning up... it is definitely not the same as taking my fast walks or working out in the gym. I am anxious to get back to the work out routine of the week. I was so exhausted after the dinner I came home and crashed.

And I didn't overeat at the church dinner. Usually I don't get to eat, there is always something happening, so I get a couple bites, standing up and on the go!

Hello out there-
I am working at my healthy lifestyle and getting myself back on track.
So two weeks ago I participated in a personal challenge-- to enter a 5K as a walker.
My son entered as a runner of the 5K as a runner and it was his first ever in a running event.
I thought, I should get out there and I was so encouraged by the whole experience. Here I was walking with about 800 other athletes -- of varying degrees of fitness- and it was exhilarating to be part of it.

Whenever I walk, I think of how fortunate I am to walk, even though I don't have any physical aliments - I have people around me who, walking is such a struggle, and I think I never want to be limited because I haven't taken care of myself.

So I just wanted to encourage you - if you have never participated in a fun walk like a 5K or 3K to just sign up and do it. The encouragement and satisfaction stay with you a long time and it helps to have yet another reason to get out there and as I like to think, "beat feet".

I am going to try and post a photo of myself and my son after the race.

    I know I NEED to do a fun walk. I'm sure someone does one in my area. Just need to mentally get over the hump and commit to doing it.

    I'm so proud of you for walking that 5K! That's the way to do it and it gives you some tangible goal to work towards. Walking is one of my favorite ways to exercise and it was my staple when I first started to lose weight.
Keep at it my friend! Your goals are in sight! emoticon

I see that you like hiking and that certainly adds some variety to your workout week- as it uses different muscles.

    What a special day for both of you. Participating in the event together is awesome. I have 2 sons and enjoy doing things like that with them. Love the pic......such an adorable family!!!!

I have hardly been tracking anything and the summer was busy and active but my efforts to record and track my progress went by the wayside.

Well, this has to change!

I have improved my eating habits and shopping - so I am not eating sweets (cookies) .

I have walked throughout the summer but am anxious to get into my exercise routine with weight training again.

The positive note is that I did attend dance class nearly every week and that burns calories!

I hope I can remember how to navigate around the Sparkpages again.
