Wearing baby kicks it up!

Monday, April 26, 2010

I've always been a big advocate of wearing baby. I have tons of different carriers for all purposes. I lost all my baby weight with #3 because I wore him almost daily.
For some reason I just haven't wore baby #4 as much since she's been born. Partly because we had such a long winter and staid home and partly because I have an 11 yr old that loves to carry her around.
But at 9mos she's getting heavy and we've been out and about a lot more with the nice weather. So I've been wearing her a lot more and I can tell I'm out of shape! It's been great though to carry her and get a mini workout. An extra 16lbs on your back really makes a difference in a 30 min hike ;) I've been using the elliptical weekly but adding the weight on you makes a big difference.
So I've tried to make a conscious effort to wear her at some point every day, not only to get in shape, but to get her used to it for the long walks we'll be taking this summer at arts festivals, museums, etc that we have planned.
Just wanted to share.....

PS Only 5 lbs to my goal weight! Shouldn't take long with baby on my back.

Babywearing is great!! I love it too :) We're about to head to Disneyworld, and I plan to wear DD most of the time at the parks. All the walking I'll be doing along with an extra 19 lbs, I should lose a few pounds on that trip!! At least that is what I'm hoping :)

Yay for spring!

Friday, March 12, 2010

Finally, we can see the ground (muddy as it may be) and we've had lots of sun over the last 2 weeks. I think spring is really coming!
Can't get a better motivator to work out than the idea of shorts weather! emoticon emoticon

It feels great to know that some warmer weather is on it's way. I've been enjoying the sun and hearing the birds chirping.

Looking up!

Saturday, February 27, 2010

After a rough start to the week Thursday was the "turn around" day. Maybe it was the sun or maybe it was just the cute baby smiles from my 7 mos old. But I got on the scale and was down another pound and felt much better about every thing!
Got a nice workout in tonight and ate well today.
Heading out with the family for an overnight trip on Saturday-we're buying a camper! Yippee!

Have fun with the camper! My family's too large for one, but we got a huge tent last year and started camping. Lot's of fun!

One of those weeks!

Wednesday, February 24, 2010

I've been fighting a sinus thing since Sunday and only exercised once in the last 4 days. I haven't gone more than 2 days without exercise in 2 mos! I feel like I'm failing but I just have no motivation or energy.... I haven't gained any weight but that's mainly because I have no appetite and eating poorly.
The week has been a total bust in more ways than health too. Kids have been fighting, I've gotten terrible customer service with 2 different things, and the baby hates the carseat so going anywhere is hell.
Ahhhhhhh! emoticon
Ever just want to do a restart on the week?

Hang in there. Your body needs time to heal. You can actually hurt yourself if you don't take a little time off to heal. Mom's need time off sometimes too. Too often we forget that. You're doing a fantastic job staying on track.

It's okay to rest up and get better. You haven't gone more than 2 days without exercise in 2 mos? That is terrific and you probably deserve a break. This week is almost over and you have next week to look forward to. Take care and I hope the best for you. emoticon

If you are fighting something, it's better to give yourself a break and don't look at it as failing. Oct. 2008, I got sick with an ear infection, but kept working out. It turned into bronchitis and a never-ending nagging cough. I finally broke down (almost literally) and gave myself permission to rest. It took almost 3 months to finally get well again, so if your body is in need of a break, then take it. This weather is wreaking havoc on all of us, so hang in there. Spring is just around the corner!

I am with you...why can't we just ask the Cosmos for a "DO OVER"...but of course it would probably get replaced with a week of Monday mornings...Yikes!

Hang in there you'll get through!

I've been there and done that. I raised five kids and I know where you are coming from. Fortunately they grow up. My baby boy is now 27. Anyway, just take a deep breath and try to remember that it's probably you, not them, and they are grating on your last nerve. I remember once when I was having a bad day and I was carrying a heavy new garbage disposal while trying to manage two kids, ages 2 and 5 back to the car. They were ever so slow in getting back into the car. I yelled at them to just please hurry up. I'm having a bad day!!! Just then I looked up and some man was going to his car. He looked at me and said, "Sounds like an attitude adjustment to me." I've never forgotten that.

Don't worry so much about the exercise while you are sick. Get your body well and the motiviations will come back. Hang in there.
