I finished the Marine Corps Marathon last Sunday. It was ugly and painful but I got it done. I would like to try it again with a better training period. (Read no blisters and hip pain preventing long runs.) Today I was a course monitor at the Raleigh City of Oaks marathon. It was a lot of fun and a little tiring. I got to cheer everyone on about a half mile from the finish line. emoticon

Ready to Run (I hope)

Thursday, October 24, 2013

I am leaving tonight to get to DC and make my attempt at the MCM. I am very nervous about the 14min/mile pace as I have had difficulty with training. I will give it my all. It was amazing to see all of the support on here. I will be back next week with a review of the weekend.

Still Here

Thursday, October 10, 2013

I am still plugging along. I am at a holding pattern on weight loss, but my clothes are still getting looser. I have done my last long run for the Marine Corps Marathon. Training has been tough with lots of blisters and pain but I think I finally have things sorted out. I am looking forward to the race although I know I may well be one of the last ones to finish. I am praying for a strong finish and that I meet my fund raising goal for make a wish.

I would appreciate any prayers or donations. My fund raising page is:

Small Successes

Sunday, May 26, 2013

I did it!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon
I am very happy to report I met my first milestone. I have lost just over 10 pounds. I am not depriving myself so I know it will continue. I decided not to diet, just make healthier choices when possible and move more. The biggest change I made was not drinking calories. I choose water almost exclusively. Hiking and training for a marathon are burning calories and allowing me to splurge on food choices occasionally while still loosing weight.
I feel great and am looking forward to loosing the next 10 pounds. If I do this two more times I should be at my healthy weight.

Congratulations on not drinking your calories, I think that is the easiest change to make when you are embarking on the getting fit journey. I think the word diet has a negative connotation for a lot of people. I've always used "lifestyle adjustment" in order to remind myself life, food & exercise are a process! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I have made good choices this week and did a lot of active hiking the last two days. I hope it shows in my weigh in tomorrow.
