Food Rut

Friday, November 15, 2013

I have to change some of my eating habits. I probably do what a lot of people do. I start out eating healthy. After a while I get bored with the "healthy" food.

I need to expand the type of food that I eat. My family doesn't like change so I have just tried to make over the recipes that I can. That has limited the food I can make.

I have decided to go through the spark recipes and plan meals for a couple of weeks. I have found a chicken and broccoli recipe that looks really good. I also found a crispy chicken recipe that I thought would go good with my mashed potatoes that I make with broth instead of milk and butter. Add some green beans and it is perfect. Have a lettuce salad to start add a little homemade apple sauce and Yum!!!

I can't waite to find more recipes now. I'll try to figure out this meal planning thing. emoticon

I like your idea of trying new recipes. I am thinking I need to revise my entire diet about now. I want to find 8 healthy meals to rotate through and after I start getting tired of them I'll start trying a new recipe once a week. =)

Planning is key and make sure that you keep your favorites too. portion control, small plate and put your fork down between bites. Before that have a glass of water before you eat. emoticon

finding and trying out new recipes is what keeps me going. My DH is one of the most finiky people on this planet, so a lot of what he gets is reheated items I've made in batches then heat up. Hey, if he doesn't want to try new things with me, he can stick with frozen reheats. lol My goal is to try at least one new recipe a week. many of the great ones have become favorites of family and friends too, so just keep experimenting. :)

Be in the moment.

Well the start to another day is a good one. Yesterday and day before, busy at post office. Expected the day after the holiday. Those 11 hour days are long. I probably will get shot for saying this but I enjoy this time of year at the post office. Its real active and people are happy to see you, looking for packages for presents for family or from grandma. I'm in Michigan and can't wait for snow. Another idea I'm not popular for. Being a mail carrier this season is fun for me.

Living out in the country the snow cleans things up for walking and spending time outdoors. When it rainy and cold the mud is no fun. Snow makes a welcome highlight. Gods way of making things clean and pretty. If you live where there is snow take the time to enjoy it. I love looking at it in the trees and up close. Each flake is just like us, individual. Sunny or cloudy I enjoy the quiet me time outside in God's canvas.

I love it too, I have been in So. Ca for many years now, but I go home in the winter as often as possible, I so miss the seasons, but my DH is not a cold weather man, so, I guess I am not either. but enjoy

We live in a rural area and I love that I can walk into my post office any time of the year and there is never a line to mail a package. I suggest those who get caught in long lines during the holidays take a drive to the country and mail your packages there.

I hate winter, snow, ice , sleet shoveling, scraping, higher than the national debt gas bills, freezing all of the time. You can have my share of winter. I'll appreciate the sands of St. Thomas again,, no shoveling or danger...
We have six months o fit where I live, sometimes longer,, after 55 years of enduring winter here, I will let you have my snow, I am generous that way!LOL! emoticon

Snow is fine, but after 5 months of it, it gets old...

I'm fine on snow and rain, it's when I'm driving on a sheet of ice that I get a little apprehensive.

Husband called to go out for lunch.
Home in time to put away groceries away.

Clean up and get ready for early work day tomorrow.

Doesn't feel like much but I can get a break once in a while.

Got the right amount of calories. Have drank all my water and feel good about myself today.

Post Daily

Sunday, November 10, 2013

I have come back time and time again. I can see that Sparkpeople works. I need support so here I am. Looked in the Michigan Spark Team. Maybe I can find someone close there. I'm in the St. Charles- Merrill area. I'm not sure what I need. Procrastination to go away. Maybe accountability. I started going to a personal trainer almost three months ago 1x a week. He gives me the stuff to do but.... See that is where I let it drop. I have been keeping a food diary. That has helped. What next? I'm not sure. Today is a new day. I have to do it for myself I know but it is hard. All good things come from hard work. So I will just do it.

Set some small goals that you can meet, e.g., 10 min of cardio daily, 8 glasses of water daily. Meet those for a while then add either longer times or additional types of goals. You may be trying to do too much at once.

Work Challenge End of Week 7

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Well it has been a couple of weeks. I gained 3 .2 pounds one week but the rest was losses. Right now I am down a total of 16 pounds. I have gone to a bariatric surgery seminar. Insurance requires me to do a supervised weight loss program with a Dr. Made an appointment with my doctor and my first appointment is October 16. Maybe after six months I won't need to or be heavy enough to have surgery. ???? Well I am going to continue to work at this. Everyone at my house understands I am serious. Work is not a problem right now. After the challenge is over it will be Christmas time. If you are giving your postal worker a gift, please make it something besides baked goods. It's not that we don't appreciate them, but we may have to ride in the care for three, four, five hours and by the end they are calling loud. Well Christmas packages are already starting. Everyone starts shopping early these days. Love it. That is how I get to meet my customers. Otherwise they know me cause the see me in my car, but I can't see them in their house.

Well better stop now. Till next time Deb

Thanks for the comment about the types of gifts for our postal carriers. I never thought about that! I would struggle with having that in my vehicle too, and probably would end up throwing it out the window so I wouldn't eat it!

Have a wonderful day!
