In Swansea I attended the mass in St Joseph’s Cathedral and the priest talked about happiness which I liked very much and I am copying the forward, thinking it is of great value to all of us.
It started as “Nowadays we are tempted to become super active, to do three things at the same time, to hurry in all directions. Author Charles Cummings describes this tendency in the following way: “Technology” he says “has speeded up our ability to accomplish tasks so that we are driven to accomplish more tasks, driven to live at a faster rate. Haste tyrannises our lives and empties them of experiences that need to be savoured slowly to be appreciated like a meal. Haste takes away our freedom to savour, to dwell, to enjoy wondering. Ultimately, haste dehumanizes us and remakes us according to the model of a machine.”

Dieting without a lifestyle change is like patching a flat tire. You can put a temporary fix on the damaged area to get the car rolling again. But it’s highly likely that you’ll just end up patching it again later - just as it’s likely that you’d have to diet again at some point. There are millions of frustrated dieters out there who have made a practice of patching tires again and again and again, and are still struggling.

it is important to be aware that sleep is not a passive activity.
Healthy sleep is every bit as valuable to your overall well-being as exercise and good nutrition.
Research shows that lack of deep sleep undermines the body's ability to fight off disease. Perpetual sleepiness can reduce the quality and quantity of your work by a third.
If you are sleep-deprived you are likely to have higher concentrations of sugar in your blood, which could contribute to development of a pre-diabetic condition.

Small pieces of any chocolate every day could decrease your risk of having a heart attack or stroke by nearly 40 percent.
German researchers followed nearly 20,000 people over eight years, sending them several questionnaires about their diet and exercise habits.
They found people who had an average of six grams of chocolate per day — or about one square of a chocolate bar — had a 39 percent lower risk of either a heart attack or stroke.
Previous studies have suggested dark chocolate in small amounts could be good for you, but this is the first study to track its effects over such a long period of time. Experts think the flavonols contained in chocolate are responsible. Flavonols, also found in vegetables and red wine, help the muscles in blood vessels widen, which leads to a drop in blood pressure.
