Exercise:

Wednesday, June 09, 2010

No matter what we do exercise must be part of our ordinary life.
We have to build up our life and our children's life in that as we eat or sleep, we have to exercise, and daily. No matter what age or sex or weather and even if we are too busy we have to accept that exercise is as important as taking a shower or drinking water.
Living in this computerised way of life; every thing you do in your bedroom or in your car makes life as it is in a prison and turns that we are like a chicken in a farm laying eggs for the owner!!
We have to believe that life is nice and going out of doors is nice, interesting and amusing as well as it is our life to enjoy with our children, friends and every body.

Too true! I am a physical education teacher and I fight the kids to get them active. "Sweating" is not cool according to them and they would rather sit and watch or play video games than walk, play ball, swim. Like life, teaching p.e. is a never ending struggle. emoticon

Exercises:

Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Exercises are several, each for a target, the one I was talking about yesterday was the one I do for getting my heart blood vessels opened. This exercise has to be done for 25-30 minutes after I reach my heart rate 70% of the calculated maximum heart rate. To get to this I have to go warming and then to reach the required heart rate , then to keep doing my exercise 25 minutes and then cooling.
these need between 35040 minutes of continuous work and as every body can see you cannot accumulate as you have to carry on.
So what I was talking about and made the confusion is that I wanted to draw the attention of knowing that there are different tasks and different targets and each has its own way of doing the exercises it involves and not all exercises can be cumulative.
Sorry for talking too much.

How much exercise is enough?

Monday, June 07, 2010

Yesterday there was an email about exercise; how much and so on...Actually it was beautiful summarizing all the points interesting about the topic. but as I am looking for the best to my health in doing exercises I noticed that there are points which are not written clearly at least to me and that was about cumulative time.
The expert says: "1. Time can be cumulative: You don't have to do 60 minutes all at once. You can do several 5-10 minute mini-workouts each day and add them up."
Well before that and we all know that to make a benefit from exercise is to achieve a certain heart rate and you got to keep it for at least 15 minutes. This is what the expert has said in the same email "- that you can sustain a target heart rate intensity for at least 20-60 minutes, and do it several times a week. "
So there are TWO types of EXERCISE
ONE for weight loss and this can be CUMULATIVE
THE OTHER IS for your heart health and this can not be cumulative.
What do you think.

I need to start back at 15 minutes per day. I was really good when I was in cardiac rehab levels 2,3, and 4 but I could not keep it up during the school year as the times were too hard and my work load doubled. I just retired and thank goodness I lived through the year. emoticon

Bottom line is just keep moving and take every opportunity to be as active as you can.

Analogy...When you're trying to empty out the garbage, it really doesn't matter if you use one large bag or use a bunch of smaller bags....as long as you get it out of the house. But there are times when using just one big bag may be harder to handle. So Improvise.

I agree with MROSE. I am sure that ANY exercise is better for us than no exercise at all. I also read lots of criticism about the "one hour a day minimum for menopausal women" saying it was sure to have a very negative effect on everyone's motivation as the bar was set so high for most that it would seem unachievable. My own experience has been that as I become fitter I am wanting to up the ante...faster, longer, harder, more reps or whatever. I enjoy competing with myself & seeing my progress.

I'm a bit confused on this one myself. A while back I read an reputable journal article that depressed me...women in the perimenopause/menopause age group needed 1 hour a day to avoid the spread. This scared the life out of me because while I'm not there yet, the weight just piled in the last 3 years. I have taken a slightly different twist to my fitness program because the scale was just sitting there. I am now doing more interval training which has short bursts of fast with regular pace. For example, yesterday I ran my regular route but after my warm up did a 30 second burst of hard running with a 60 second rest of walking at 15 mn/mile pace. I did four of these intervals then went on to the regular run. Since I have been doing intervals (early May), my clothes are looser. I like the interval training because I don't have to put in that 1 hour a day....yet....have a fit day!

I am confused about this also I walk every morning and to get my heart rate up and keep it up I need to do 2 miles in 30 minutes but on the fitness tracker the longer it takes say 45 minutes it shows I burn more calories and I do not understand it because if I slow down I can not get my heart rate up. I am really confused about all of this and wish someone would explain it all.

I am very new to this. I have an illness that is restrictive. I am able to walk for about 20 minutes, so I do it twice a day. I think just moving has it's own advantages, and yoga keeps me pretty limber.

a bit confusing. my understanding is if u r not able to maintain an exercise for more than 10 minutes in the beginning, do 10 minutes several times a day will benefit u more than giving out and then end up not doing anything. i do 10 min. than, later, a 20, then later a 30 min workout on my wii, whew.by that time i can tell i have worked out. may not work for all but i have lost 22 lbs doing it this way. good luck and best wishes.

Should I be Upset

Sunday, June 06, 2010

I am very interested in the SP points.
and I get the total daily of 110 points regularly plus the Log in points which are usually 2-10.
The 110 daily are the maximum because the mail points are not always 10.
How could you get 312 or more?
There are some extra points that you can get by promoting the SP to a friend and other points somewhere else
BUT
These can't take you to 312 or about on daily bases
I want to learn
because I want and love to compete. emoticon emoticon

Writing from the mind:

Saturday, June 05, 2010

I am not preparing what am going to say now.
I am interested in this site, I LOVE IT.
But why my friends don't ????? so many of them asked to join. they didn't.
Yesterday one of them visited me for advise towards his weight loss program. I asked him what about the SP? his answer was:
"It is too long and complicated". "It is too difficult to follow".
I thought today and realized that SPARKPEOPLE is getting bigger and bigger and needs an hour a day with a clear mind to follow.
people are too busy to have that much of time to spend.
should we do something about it.
this needs to be discussed!!!, probably we will find it true!
