Back after a long year away for round 2.

Sunday, February 27, 2011

So it's been almost a year since I've been on Spark People and a lot of things have happened in my life.

I left my job (British Army) and moved to the USA from the UK, huge life change! It has been incredibly stressful dealing with leaving a job which has essentially acted as my second family, at the same time sorting out a visa to move onto my new life.

Finally I'm here in the States and I'm all sorted with my social security number and getting my life back on the right track; the only downside of the past year is after battling my way down and losing almost 20 pounds, I've actually put it back on and an additional 6 pounds on top of that.

So today is the day that I stop with the binging and truly start my new life in a positive way. I've stopped buying junk/convenient food and I am about to venture on an exercise routine.

I really hope that this time I can stay motivated and stay on the wagon so to speak. Self motivation has always been hard for me and the first couple of weeks will be the hardest to break the habits that I've accumulated over the last year.

I remember that Spark People was a great place for me to help others stay motivated and for others to offer words of encouragement.

For all of you that are reading this, thank you for taking the time and interest in my life to read this wall of text and I hope I can keep posting with positive words of encouragement to help you in your times of need. Eventually, when I'm comfortable enough I will post photographs of my progress.

Thank you all for listening

The dreaded scales

Monday, May 17, 2010

Today I have hit day 7 of my life change and every day since starting I haven't been able to resist the urge of stepping onto the scales first thing every morning! I know it's not recommended and I have noticed that weight fluctuates so much depending on what you've eaten or drank, so I don't know why I do it really!

So today I am going to go out and get a measuring tape for my measurements instead, then I will be able to stop jumping on the scale in the mornings and just measure myself each month!

Swimming is really helping with my breathing as well as endurance and even after the first week of this life choice I already feel happier everyday and more energetic, it's also helping me be more productive in what I do everyday.

To that end, to all those people out there who are struggling, don't think of the negatives, remember how great it feels to finish a workout, or how much more energy you have everyday, if we look to the positives and forget the negatives then we can achieve whatever we want in life! emoticon

I only record my weight 'officially' once a week - usually Thursday mornings is at its lowest (far away from weekend binge?) but doesnt stop me leaping on scale & noticing fluctuations - I've had as much as 5 lbs in one day!

WTG!!!! Awesome blog.....a long time ago I used to do the daily scale thing and since I am still trying to lose weight....correct that.....now that my life has changed, I only step on once a week (Sunday's) but I look at it, want to take a peek, just see how I am doing, but I resist and only do it on Sunday's - nice to know I am not the only one out there!!!
