catching up with what's happenin'

Monday, January 27, 2014

January is almost finished... 11 months to go before I can sell my house. This too shall pass.
Also just counting the days to apply for social security, less than a month with beginning collection in June. Yes!

I have much to do this year. I'm hoping to take the 40 off I want to lose by #62 in May. So far even though I haven't been on SP since Dec sometime and I'm not logging in and posting food and activities I'm still on track. But I do really want to be a participant on SP. I've loved SP for a very long time with all of the tools and support I just can't see leaving this site.

The last 3 weeks I've been volunteering at the local volunteer fire department crab feeds. So I've had much to do on Saturday nights. With only one dinner left this Saturday I'm going to wear my pedometer and count how many steps I take in a 4.5+ hours night. On my feet on cement has been somewhat trying but it's been good also, seeing and visiting with local people who I haven't seen in years. Catching up on what they have been up to.

We are in a severe drought here in California, I get my water from a well so unless thing make drastic change this summer will not only be difficult with out water but very scary due to the outrageous fire season we could have. I'll have my vehicle and emergency items ready for evacuation. You have to plan ahead if you live in areas like I live in. Very country with lots of scrub oaks and fire fuel. Even in wet years there still can be a major fire issue.

Have a great Monday and continued success with SparkPeople's help!

OH MY... the pooch should have been named money pit... (He is just a real treat) however... he needed to have 2 baby fang teeth extracted... so playing games with different vets... I did end up saving $150 from one to another...

This morning Corky went to the vet to have 2 of his upper canine teeth (fang) extracted, $175 later is far better than a total of $322... He's been a bit loopy and a whimper here and there.. but he's doing fine.

here he is showing off his new jacket... made with a snip snip to a leg of one sweat pants. the elastic as a neckline and trimmed to fit his back and so he doesn't pee on the jacket... lol.

Right now he's taking junk mail from my pile of junk to his pile of what he wants to chew up... yes a bit of a mess but he's happy... so it's OK...

BLC23 is over... I lost 7 pounds in 12 weeks... with a bit of a plateau in the middle... I'll take a loss any day...

And I'm less than what I was when the year started... I'm taking the rest of the year off but will keep watch over what goes in and out...

Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... see you all in 2014!

xoxo Carlene aka Waianaegal

Oh my....who would have thought that a little dog, so cute and small could so quickly rack up the bills. Oh well hopefully, he's on his way to a healthy life just like you. Enjoy your break....try to make good choices in the midst of any holiday gatherings. Congrats on your weight loss during BLC23.

BLC 23 ending

Thursday, December 12, 2013

With struggling with my computer I've gone back in time to my old laptop, 2008 with windows vista. And I do not have to type, copy and paste on to the challenge message board. Nor do I have to shut down and re-boot after each posting.

I've found more than just food, health, weight and exercising challenges with this challenge. However I put most of the blame onto the tracker, which I acquired mid challenge. It has something to do with proxy servers. All I know is that SparkPeople is the only website that I am unable to utilize as befor installing the tracker.

And knowing just enough about computer to get myself into trouble I choose not to do anything myself. After the challenge is finished in a week I will take my newer laptop to a local shop and have someone who knows more than me fix it.

Either that of buy a new one but that really is not an option at this time of year.

As long as I'm able to track, post etc I'm fine. Only bad thing is all of my challenge bookmarks are on my other laptop. Not exactly sure how I'm going to post my last week of tracking the challenges.

Oh technology emoticon
what a pain emoticon

Isn't awful when our technology doesn't work for us? Hope that lap top gets fixed soon.

Spark Tracker

Sunday, November 24, 2013

Well as a last resort I've uninstalled my tracker. It just didn't work with my browser and computer and BLC23 was more important than the tracker.

I'll re-install it after BLC23 is finished.

The Spark People website would close / shut down when ever I was trying to post on to a message board. The BLC23 challenge became too much of a challenge just trying to keep SP going on my computer.

I thought I'd found a fix by just not having the USB dongle plugged in all the time but that didn't seem to be the fix either.

SO with much disappointment the SparkTracker is uninstalled.

And it seems that this is the fix to allow me to remain on the SP website while typing, answering Sparkmail, posting onto the message boards, doing all of the other activities that I'd become used to part-taking in.

After Dec 18th when BLC 23 is finished I'll re-install and see what happens..

Sounds like you came up with a solution for the short term... but how disappointing!

OK... been here before... I'll get over it but until then I'll keep trying different things... increasing my food is an option that has worked in the past and I haven't tried that, my thoughts on this action might be to wait another week, wouldn't Thanksgiving Day be the best time to increase my intake.

The last 3 weeks have been boring, I'm doing what I normally do, so the thought of eating whatever I want on Thanksgiving is so very attractive to me.

I do know that I need to increase my activities, I've been getting by, even the options given and tried while on BLC23 have been ok but it's still just daily stuff to do...

WOW the rain / storm / wind that's going on right now just knocked my directv off. and it's coming down out there. We need it but why come all at once, LOL, man the life boats...LOL!!

emoticon past that plateau. Taking a day to eat more sounds like a good idea (don't make yourself sick though.) Another option is to change up your exercise. When your body is use to your routines it doesn't work as hard.

Here's to thinking like those baseball players have to....one pitch at a time again...and again....and out of the ball park.

Enjoy eating on Thanksgiving... sometimes giving our bodies a "shock" is just what they need to get kickstarted!

Oh plateaus are THE WORST! I always feel like I'm doing great and then I hit one and it's so darned hard!

Sounds like you have a super attitude though. You will get through this and lose! Hang in there!
