Portion Distortion~~What does it look like?

This is an area that we all seem to need help with, over the years things have gotten bigger in America~~it use to be that only the "big" things were in Texas (you remember that saying don't you?)
Well now it is everywhere, and we wonder why we have become a country with weight issues.

Did you know the original meal at McDonalds for an adult when it opened was a simple hamburger, small fry and small drink, that has a total of 250 for the hamburger, 210 for the fry and 110 for a regular soft drink. Grand Total 570 Calories.

Now take todays standard meal for an adult the Big Mac Meal which is a Big Mac, medium fry and medium drink, that has a total of 550 for the Big Mac, 380 for a medium fry, and 210 for the regular soft drink! Grand total 1140 Calories.

Wow, just look at those numbers, just your Big Mac alone has as many calories as the whole meal that used to be standard.
And we wonder why the weight issue is there?

Let's not forget at home, even at home our plates have gotten bigger, they now have plates that we use at home that have no rim on them, and yes, we do fill them up, we feel we are depriving ourselves if there is any empty space on our plates, so we fill that void of space with food, and 9 times out of ten it is not with fruits and veggies, it is with high fat, high carb stuff.
And we wonder why the weight issue is there?

We are heading into a New Year, and we are all busy making those new resolutions, I for one want to look at portions a lot more closely and make some serious changes there, if we start there, then the rest will be easy.

Week 1~~Day 4

Can you believe it~~I am still here, still pushing hard~

I don't know what happen this time, but the consistancy and the fire I have this time around is like something I have never experienced before.
Maybe the light has finally come on, and I am really ready to do this...

Today is day 4 of the challenge, it is 4 weeks long, but I have to go an extra week because I started early, must really be ready, huh?

I have already gotten in 80 minutes of exercise today, I am 1800 steps away from the 10,000 I have set for goal today...

WooHoo...Blowing my own horn, and loud!

You can change the Monster in you!

We all possess that monster, the one that never wants to give up!
The one writes letters such as this one:


The monster that lives in us all seems to always want more, more, more, even when we are fighting to have less.
We walk away from the table with crumbs all over us.


Sometimes we even take that monster into the bedroom with us!


But we can change, we can work to make and form better habits.
It takes time, and it takes commitment~~both of which we sometimes say we don't have time for.
But you are worth taking the time for that, there is only one you, and if you don't take care of yourself, no one is going to do it for you!
Are you worth the fight?
Are you worth the time?
Are you worth the effort?

No it won't be easy, there will be stumbling blocks, that either we put up ourselves, or someone else puts in front of us.
But we can use those blocks to our advantage as well!

We have to decide if this is something we really want, and you have to be doing it for yourself, you will not succeed if you are trying to lose weight for someone else, you will start to feel resentment towards that someone, and it will only make the journey tougher.
So you need to ask yourself~~
Am I losing weight for me or someone else?

If you are wanting to lose weight for yourself then success is waiting for you, because you will not allow anything or anyone to get in your way~~once you say "I am doing this for me" then everyone else better get of your way.

It's not that hard to tame that monster that is inside of all of us, we just have to want to do it for us!
So take a little bit of time, reflect on what it is you want to accomplish, write it down, seeing it on paper is a motivator, then set DAILY goals...start small, just one thing changed will start to put a chain on that monster that is holding you back, then work on another..
Bad habits did not start overnight, bad habits will not disappear overnight!

Just take that first step to changing because you want to, and you will soon see that monster tamed!

Week 1~~Day 3

Well, I know to some of you this is no big deal, but to me it is a pretty big accomplishment.

I have stayed focused for 3 days in a row now!
I have exercised consistantly and have watched what I eat very closely.
Yes I have eaten some things some of you would consider bad for you, but they were in moderation.

This is day 3 of week 1 and I have completed all things I needed to.

I am writing my goals down in my hard journal each morning, and that is what I focus on for the day.
Once I complete them I draw a big smiley face next to them...if I don't complete one, it tops my goal list the next day and that is what I focus on for the rest of the week, because if I did not do there must be some reason why, and I need to form habits to complete each goal I am looking to attain.

I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but I have crossed that start line and from this point on there is no stopping until I reach the finish line, which is my goal weight, from there I will stay balanced on the line.

Day 2~~Week 1

I am sure you have heard of the YO-YO dieting syndrome!

Well I am the expert at it, if you have any questions on how to obtain, how to stay on it, or how to make it work, I am your girl.

I have doing the YO-YO for quite a few years now, except that it seems I never go back down lately, I just seem to be on the upward spiral..LOL

But you know there are so many tricks you can do with a YO-YO and maybe it's time I start doing some of them.
How about Walk the dog~~That's pretty simple, I just grab the leash and take one of my daughter's dogs for a walk.
What about Around the World~~Shoot with that one I could pick an activity, find the distance around the world and start a streak until I complete the entire distance.
Then you have the Break-Away~~Now that is one I really need to learn how to do, break away from this cycle I seem to be stuck on.
The Three-Leaf Clover~~I need to find some luck, it seems to be what I need right now..LOL
Then we have the Sleeper~~Now that one I am a pro at...I have that trick down to a tee..I have my body so asleep right now, I am going to have to work hard to wake it back up.

I am on day 2 of the challenge:
I am getting in all my water, I am getting in my workouts, and eating pretty decent.
It is not easy, I can easily persuade myself to lean the other way, so I am leaning hard on the Lord.
That is where my strength is coming from to get through these tough times, I have alot of changes to make, but I feel confident that they will happen.

ONE DAY, ONE STEP AT A TIME!
I DID NOT GAIN OVERNIGHT, I WILL NOT LOSE IT OVERNIGHT!!
