Hey hey! Happy Sunday!

We've had glorious weather here in the UK this weekend. Madness. The sad part is, this will be our Summer and it will be finished before April is through!

So catch up catch up. Friday ... Good day at work, good eating. Home time. Workout time! BodyRocked Friday night, after contemplating a few times during the day whether or not to rest... But was really looking forward to actually BodyRocking, so it happened! :) I had a small portion of Spag-Bol for tea and one glass of wine. That's it! (NO TAKEAWAY STILL!!!)

Saturday... up early for work. Spent the day working, although very productively and had a really nice day. I work alone at weekends and I gotta be honest, I do enjoy my own company - plus I seem to get 10 times the amount of work done!! Saying that, by the time Monday comes I'm happy for everyone to come back as I have lots of people to talk to then, LOL!

Saturday night. Again, wondering whether to take a rest day, as I was counting up how many days straight I'd worked out.. And I think it might be... 7 including Friday... But I really liked the look of a BodyRock workout I'd checked out during the day... So yep, I got stuck in and did that. And felt wonderful afterwards!!

Consistency. :)

I had a small beef roast dinner last night, followed by lots of water. No bad stuff, no alcohol.

Sunday. Today! I'm thinking, yeah, 8 days going now, today will be a rest day. PLUS I have to finish work and fly like a movie (no commercials... ;) - LOL I've been wanting to say that for ages!) and get ready for a meal with my Mum & Sister - Post-Mother's Day meal, as Mother's Day is far too crowded! So - that means no workout time, right? WELL....

Since work is pretty slack today... I have some super alone time.... and the sun is out.... and I was having a browse around and stumbled upon ZWOW #9... And had a look around and thought... I could so do an iddy piddy workout right here, right now?!

So yeah, this Steph isn't always around, so I took her up on her idea before she changed her mind. ZWOW #9 was supposed to be a time challenge. 10 mins to do however many rounds you can, of 4 exercises. I did start it out that way, but 16 santana pushups into it - The damn phone rang. AND I'd forgotten to bring the phone outside with me, so had to run into the office to get it. Grrr. So I took a phonecall and went back to my timer. It was on 6 mins something so I decided to switch it up.

I finished off the santana pushups and the rest of the round, then did another round and just timed that. A nice short one, as being a sweaty betty in work when some people are coming in later - isn't too good. ;)

So anyways, I've talked about being alone at work before, and taking runs up and down the yard? I took a pic of where I did my ZWOW. (MY FIRST EVER OUTSIDE WORKOUT!!)

I said a while back how I had some alone time at work so I ran up and down the yard with the dogs? Well, that's the doggies. Ragen and Jade.
Ragen is so so handsome.

And Jade is a beauty. I lay down on the floor with her .... and asked her to pose for a picture. This was all I got.


I swear animals know when you're trying to take a picture and they're like "NO WAY, I'M GONNA LOOK AWAY!" :D

Okay... I have the rest of my Sunday now! Got some real work stuff to do... and some quickfiring inbetween! Then a nice meal later - very excited! I don't have a clue what to wear though... I never do! But I'm going to exercise some will-power and choose a sensible meal from the menu! Although.... alcohol might happen. Not much though - Work early Monday morning.

    yeah, true! whenever I took pictures of my cats, they always turn their face away just right before I click the button. so the technique "1, 2, 3 click" can't apply with them LOL

wow, so that's where you do your workout, when you said ZWOW at work. And you even have a great companion :D I don't think I can do full swing at my own workplace as #1 no suitable place (lots of spacious places but always have some people wandering around and I'm too shy, hehe) and #2 I'm easily get sweaty so don't want to be sweaty and smelly at meetings, hehe. Though, I do my Quickies with some of the exercises but in very, very short time.

DARE DEVIL you are, and I like it. That's so good.
Great outdoors workout, and to do it with the babies "pups" is great. Keep on pushing forward - you are the best at pushing me forward. I tell ya, you are doing all kinds of stuff, and I like it -i like it. Now, I have to catch up and get started myself. Hard Sunday, but I won't complain.

    Gm wow love your blogs so full of life. I love the fact that you are comfortable with getting it in by your self. That is self empowerment and actually motivating for me, because I must admit. Im in need of a work out alone. Ive been personal training people and customizing workouts for them but not myself. Your dog is so cute, he was like nope, no more pictures ;P YOur photo is super edgy , its like im not afraid to get dirty, thats emoticon, Take care chica, and have a super sunday!

    Way to go Steph! You're seriously on a roll girl! Not only NO take out still (YAY!!!!) but also working out 8 days in a row?!?! KILLER!!! I recently did that Zwow also and it was Gooooood =] Didn't those plyo pulse and jump tucks KILL the legs?! haha What bodyrocks did you do by the way? (Curious =p)

I love the pics of where you worked out outside with the doggies! And, just wanted to tell you again, how much I FREAKING LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're so fierce I don't even know where to start!! =D=D

'Cause we're gonna OWN this club tonight!

Hah. Good Body Attack session. I am LOVING the abs section song. It's at the end of the workout just before the cool down... And I really get into the crunches with this song playing - So I had to find out what it was upon arrival home tonight!

You know when a song really gets you going and makes you push that little bit harder because you love the beat? Yeah. :D

I'm very tired tonight... So I didn't BodyRock afterwards. Save that for tomorrow. I'm itching to BodyRock but I pushed extra hard in the pushups section tonight and I know my arms are feeling it now... So wouldn't be able to do many more. The pushups part starts in plank. We hold plank for a while and then start doing stomps, keeping the hips still but stomping the right then left foot. Sixteen times. Then we slowly bring the right leg up and plant it next to the right hand. Then bring the left up and plant it next to the left hand. Sit up into a squat, bring the arms up and then squat upwards and reach to the sky. Back down into squat, then back into plank, then 4 explosive pushups. Then back up to squat, back down to pushups. We do this ... I lose count of how many times... But the pushups really challenge me because they're so explosive. It's gooooooood. :) Oh and they call those 'Walking Burpees' - I think I prefer actual burpee's as these are so tiring... LOL.

By the end of that part I had sweat rolling off my nose, dripping into my eyes and rolling into my mouth. Today's sweat was very salty. LOL. My workout buddy said I did great for that section - So I was chuffed it looked like I'd put the extra effort in too. :)

Now I need some rest and early night! (ugh, it's already past 9pm) - I'm BodyRocking tomorrow night and I CAN'T WAIT!!!

    Ooooo those "Walking burpees" sounds difficult! They sound like of yoga-esque for the first half with the stomping of the feet and then getting into the low squat, etc! And MAN explosive push ups are freaking hard! I love exercises that have them in there though, because they totally get me "chuffed" (hahaha freaking love that word!) and QUICK! Which means I must work on them MORE! =D

And by the way, I was totally listening to that song whilst typing this comment and I LOVE IT! I'm gonna totally find a way to add that to my workout playlist! =D

Feelin' it

I'm having this 'feeling' coming and going. It's a nice feeling, but it confuses me. Sometimes it feels so right, and I smile with it and agree with it. Other times I don't live up to it, and then I feel a bit silly for thinking I could be this feeling.

I've been feeling like a 'fit person'. LOL. With working out most days... doing SOMEthing every day, I feel I am walking tall. My shoulders are back and proud. I'm springy, bouncy, jumpy, on my toes. I feel happy. I'm smiling and laughing. I'm quite a positive person anyways but I feel like a ray of sunshine, and I want to blind everyone, HAHA.

Again it is proven to me just how good regular exercise is for you. It helps in all aspects of life. Those wonderful little endorphins rushing around... The confidence boosts. The want to eat better to support the workout you have just done or are planning. It makes everything fall into place. :)

Oh-KAY. Happy Wednesday! I'm just sitting back and feeling a bit happy. And proud too. So that's what that was about - ha. The fitness classes I have been doing have really give me a little boost... to push harder in workouts and also in being confident. I went to a class yesterday - alone. My fitness-class-buddy had an injection during the day, so couldn't make the class but urged me to still go. So I went on my lonesome.

Being honest - I almost didn't walk into the class. I hesitated and nearly diverted myself to the exit - even after paying. I had this warm bundle feeling in my belly then running through my veins - my nerves. I saw through the glass into the class and could only see 4 guys standing around talking, jump ropes around their necks. My head said "No way. Noooo way no way no way." And my legs nearly took me! I had thoughts running through my head that the whole class would be men - boxers to be precise, since boxers use skipping to train, right? ...

So I had to mega quickly blank my head, hold my breath and walk into the room. NO TURNING BACK NOW! I saw some ladies to one side of the room, so made my way towards them to sit by them. They smiled at me. One of the guys then looked over to me. An example of a great instructor here (rather than the Body Pump guy!) - he asked me if I had been to this class before. I said no and he called me over to find me a rope that 'fit'. He told me to go with the flow and just keep it going as best I can.

The class was brilliant. Really challenging - and reminded me a bit of a school PE lesson. In a good way. I loved PE at school. To warm up we had to run the circumference of the room. Then quicken the jog. Then sprint. Then side shuffles. THEN... He had two squishy rugby balls, and said we had to keep running - and if he hit us with the ball then we had to drop and do 10 squat jumps (or rocket launchers) ... ha! That was a LOT of fun, running and ducking and dodging. I was already knackered here but loving it.

We did some interval skips, like 50 seconds slow, then 2 minute sprints. Hard. Very hard. He would switch it up between high knees and jacks. He also told us, if he caught anybody slacking and stopping - he would have us skip in the middle of the circle. (We were all skipping in a big circle, he was in the centre firing instructions). Then he asked us to find a partner. One other girl was left so we paired up! We took turns, firstly I had to be on the floor on all fours, the girl had to place her hands on my shoulders and stand one side of me, and bunny hop her feet high up over my back to either side of me. Then switch. That was mighty hard - and she was REALLY tall hahaha!

More skipping with some other partner stuff, isometric bicep holds, plank with alt. knee tucks, partner crawls under your plank then jumps over your plank and you do alt knees again and repeat!! Everything went back to skipping and skipping flat out. Oh and tricep dips. We had a dip competition and then had to hold it at the bottom and see who was the 'last man standing'. I held on for a good while. :)

Anywho's... This is turning out longer than planned already ha! The class was great, sweat dripping into my eyes. Great stuff! At the end I gave the skipping rope back and said thanks to the instructor. He said well done and see you again! Nice to have an instructor who knows how to do his job!

Oh and Monday I went to Zumba and had a great time too. Somebody new took the class as the regular girl was ill and everything felt so much easier to follow. We also did some new songs and I felt I really went for it! I needed to get rid of my soreness from Sunday's BodyRock lol.

Tonight I did a time challenge of 25 reps of a list of exercises. I wasn't really looking forward to it but wanted to get it done. Was pleasantly surprised with my time as I thought I'd take much much longer. BUT I didn't use weights for part of it and I know that would have certainly slowed me down.

So I have Body Attack tomorrow. Hope to have some energy left to BodyRock afterwards. I can't make any promises though. I'm going to skip a few workouts to get up to the uptodate workouts. Feel like a slacker being so far behind.

Errrrrm what else? I haven't weighed in a good while. I'm not sure when I want to weigh. I'm still successfully having ZERO TAKEAWAYS... I've just cut them out and I'm not even sure how long it's been Lent for now? LOL!? Maybe 3 weeks? Keepin' it going! Feel like I'm toning up lots and everywhere is pulling in, the skin is pulling in more... I do know this feeling and have had it before so the most important thing is consistency and sticking with what I'm doing. I can do this... And I'm doing it. It's usually here where I fall off, slack workouts and eat crap. I want to show myself how far I can go and how much better I can feel and look in my body.

So happy hump day peeps! Was a bit scary there with Sparky having some site trouble hey? I was all "BUT I NEED TO GET MY LOG IN POINTS!!" lol... My Spark Streaks are important to me and my motivation! :P

    That sounds like an absolutely amazing class! I can just picture you going all out for it and getting competitive with all the other fit people there. You totally ARE a fit person, and you should be soooooo proud of yourself for it. Really hope you're going back to that class again!

You're taking some serious classes there, woman! And you feel like a SLACKER because you're not Bodyrocking on top of that every day??? Wait please, while I find my thermometer to take your temp! Crazy lady... emoticon That gym does seem to have a cool variety of interesting classes, though.

What you said in the beginning reminds me of Chalene said at the end of the workout yesterday: BE that person who everyone else wants to be. You know, the fit one with the smile, the endless energy and all that jazz. I'm thinking: you ARE that person! emoticon

    I can FEEL your rays of sunshine from over here girl! =D I'm so glad you're feeling so GOOD and fit! I love it! Your positivity is so motivating! =] Great job with that class at the gym! I'm the same way in social situations like that (would WAY rather just be at home! lol!) so seriously, GOOD FOR YOU for pushing yourself and getting into that class! It sounds super hard!

Keep up the awesome work!! Don't you love how seeing and feeling results can push you that much harder and father! WHOOT!

Hello there! Sooo... What's been occurin'?

Friday. Good day food wise. Some super good quickfiring in my office. I was raised up at one point in the afternoon, feet on a chair, lent forward, one hand on the window ledge and the other on the desk - doing some elevated pushups, when I realised the way the sun was shining, people outside my office could see into my office (as it is one-way glass, I can see out, people can't see in, but in certain lights people can see in?) - Yeah so someone was half watching me, so I slowly put my feet down and pretended to reach for something... I have no idea what the person thought I was doing - and he didn't ask. LOL.

Friday night, I didn't get my hair cut as my hairdresser cancelled. So I went for tea with my good friend. I ate a mixed grill and left half of my chips. Good for me as I'd usually clear the plate. I had some vodka & soda's... I'd read that drinking soda was good with alcohol as it hydrates you while the alcohol is dehydrating you? LOL, it was better than mixing my drinks etc... :-/

Saturday I got up bright eyed and bushy tailed and took my husband to work. I then went to a 9am Body Pump class.

My first experience - if I'm honest - was not great at all. I wasn't booked on to the class because it was fully booked - but was advised to turn up as there were always no-shows. So that happened. I got into the class at 1 minute to 9 (with my friend, as we couldn't enter the class earlier, with not being booked on) and the instructor was going full steam ahead, with a full room of people who all had barbells up in the air doing squats, step boxes infront of them with mats and various weights around them.

The class was set up and had started. The instructor ignored us. YES ignored us. I'm still rather p*ssed off about this - I understand he has to think of everyone in the class and keep it moving... But to ignore new people when they walk into the room... I'm pretty disgusted.

My friend and I stood at the back, dumbfounded. What do we do?! Luckily, some guy at the back shouted to us to "Go into the store room, get your weights and choose a space"...... So we went into the store room. There were empty bars. Weight plates on a stand. Step boxes with pieces missing. What the hell do we do?! We stood in there for a minute, the music pumping outside and the class going on. "What shall we do?" We were both so SO close to quitting and running out of the class. The door opened and helpful-guy quickly came in and put two step boxes together. He gave them to us and said "Go and find a space in the room - ANYwhere, put your box down and grab a mat, come back here and I will have your weights ready." So we followed his instructions. This awesome guy had put together the barbells for us and set us up. :) Bless him! So we got set up and sort of jumped in.

I was in a daze. Total, complete daze. Maybe the instructor was blind. The first song finished and then everybody was moving around, changing their weights on their bars, moving stuff around. My friend and I just stood, watching. A girl I was next to then started talking me through what I need, told me to put this to the side, handed me some smaller weights, talked me through what the next part was. Well I tell you - the first guy and then this girl I had next to me - we were SO lucky these people were there taking the class, or I would still be stood there now wondering what the heck was going on, what are people doing now? What does the instructor want us to do next? .. Heck, if friendly-guy wasn't there, the class wouldn't have happened for us!

Overall, I did enjoy the class. Although the instructor was an arse, he was good at pushing you for one more round, one more rep "AND AGAIN!". Friendly girl talked me through each part and even gave me advice on form. She also told me off for doing the advanced versions (as I was copying her LOL) ... I've always wanted to try out a barbell without having to go to a gym and do it in front of everybody.

After the class I was still very much in a daze. What was that? I look forward to my next class as I'll get there SUPER early and sort myself out and be ready for all the moving around and switching weights. There weren't enough weights left for us to switch around.

ANYWAY - Sorry about the uber long explanation. Didn't mean for it to be that long, but had to talk about it! :)

Saturday night I went out for a meal with my family for my niece's birthday. I wasn't overly 'good' with my food choices - BUT, I was MEGA good on the alcohol front - I didn't drink a drop! This is big news for me - I always like to drink on occasions, and I end up drinking a lot. Last night I decided I'd rather have a nice time without alcohol. So I had a fruity mock-tail and then pints of lime and soda water. BIG DEAL for me! :)

I'd done this back in early February. Didn't check my old score until after I'd finished... I don't like to know until afterwards haha. Well I was SUPER chuffed afterward... And also SUPER WET SWEATY and super TREMBLY! Seriously, I definitely put extra effort in and was feeling it most of the day.

I used my 14kg Kettlebell for all of the workout, a pyramid style doing 10 reps per exercise, counting down through to 1 rep per round.
1) Alternating Kettlebell Swing
2) Shovel left using KB
3) Shovel right using KB
4) Clean and Press Left using KB
5) Clean and Press Right using KB

Happy days !

Spent some time at my Mummy's today and then went for a walk in the park. Had some lunch (half a ham salad sandwich & half a cheese + ham panini) and then power-walked back to my car to pick the husband up from work! (He's a hard worker, bless :) )

So I'm having a good time and feel like there are changes happening with my body... Good changes. I'm going to be super strict on my eating for the next to weeks to pull in that little bit more for my Mexico holiday.

Scary thought - I'm thinking of buying a membership for these leisure centres, to get better value whilst doing classes. I believe it's something like 25 for a months membership - classes included. If I do at least 2 classes a week, I'll have already saved around 15 in a month. Hmmm. It's worth thinking about, because I'm enjoying the classes. Never - ever - giving up BodyRocking though. I do love it so. I'm a week behind with the workouts at the moment, but that's fine because I have caught up some - and if they're a day late posting or whatever, I won't fall off the wagon because I'm not up to there yet!

    I watched the bodyrock video, I love that workout. I do that with my kettle bells . It really does great with my thights and arms. Im goiing to have to incorporate that into todaysworkout. Super happy that things are going well for you. Every time i come back to visit you are still going strong, which always motivates me to keep going and never alter my dreams because as long as we fight for them they can, and will come true!

    Ooh, that sounds like a lovely weekend combination of exercise, relaxing and eating (and a little drinking). Well done on all the REALLY good stuff in there! You really must be enjoying the classes at the centre if you're thinking about committing to going regularly. Maybe something to look forward to after your hols?

That instructor really does sound like an arse. Guess he must have had something going for him for you to go back, but I wonder if people there were particularly helpful because they've been in the same place as you - just starting out and no idea what to do? Maybe that's just how the class keeps running because everyone's helpful to newbies?

Sorry to hear about that crappy instructor. Maybe that's his 'theme' or whatever... being mean and negligent to his students haha. I've had a couple of Zumba instructors like that who were bitchy if not completely condescending. But they were usually gay men... I'm not hating though! Just saying LOL. Glad you pulled through and did it anyway!

    That was almost my exact experience with Body Pump... The intructors forget that there are new people and can't adjust. But one you get the hand of it you will know the songs and the moves for each part. It takes a bit though. But I am sure everyone has been in your position so nice of them to help you out

    I wish you could come to my gym, we have Body Pump and our instructors would never treat you like that and always talk through the class and check new people know what they are doing and have no health issues they need to know about. Thank goodness for the nice people who helped you. If I were you I would complain about the instructor, maybe they have an issue with the gym letting in people late? Even so they should not take it out on you!

    Well, I'm glad you enjoyed the class! Although I have to agree on the instructor, and it also seems to me that this particular class doesn't exactly lend itself to letting people in on standby if the equipment isn't ready... anyhoo: you're a hard worker, too, girl!

    What an idiotic instructor, i would have walked out of the class if i was obviously being ignored particularly in a class where you cant just jump in there and join in. Maybe he had enough people taking his class and was trying to put off newer people from joining in haaaaah. Still an idiot though. Glad everything is going good for you and hard working is paying off. Its a good feeling!

Double Whammy!

Hey HEY! Super quick blog. I really need to shower right now (sweaty... mmm!) and then get my butt to bed to sleep. It's 8:45pm already! (lol)

Guess what guess what GUESS WHAT I DID??? (Still a tad excited)...

I went to my Body Attack class. Attacked my body for an hour, then got home and decided to do the next BodyRock workout I have to catch up with! (Thong something) - Yay! I'm quite chuffed and proud of myself for this, because I am totally pooped after Body Attack, and usually there is no chance of any more... But I'm high on life right now so decided to get the extra workout in so I can catch up quicker, and not miss BodyRock simply because I've done a class! Hell yeah for fitness minutes!

I'm not saying this will happen after every class (better say that quick ha!) but it feels really good right now.

Eating has been a lot better, but not as good as I'd like it to be.

Sooo... Friday already tomorrow! I'm getting my hair cut, then meeting a friend for a glass of wine, controlling myself and then Saturday morning going to *hopefully* try a Body Pump class. I only add hopefully in there because the class was full when I tried to book - but the receptionist advised we turn up anyway, because they always have a large number of people who have booked fail to turn up! Yikes!
