Day Three - Keepin' it Going!

Wednesday, June 08, 2011

Today consisted of my voice failing me many many times, making me cough and splutter instead and unable to talk, and in one instance - crying. Not crying crying, but my eyes filling up from coughing and tears rolling down my face.

Wtf is with this flu thing? Grrrrr!!!!

I pondered only a very short amount of time as to whether i would carry out day 3 of my challenge because of not being well AND having some major muscle soreness..... but AH-HA! I came in and got changed and oh yeah i was dreading it because i was doing something completely new - Beach Body's P90 dvd. Sculpting! Well i started, stretched and i sailed through it. Woopa? Oh yes! Very happy happy indeedy!

Ending Day-Three with a smile - that could have been a lot worse!

Coughing during workouts is definitely very annoying. I hate that too, especially if I'm swimming. It's why I eventually gave up smoking, to be honest -- I couldn't stand the constant coughing and the interruptions my workouts (and any other activity) had to take.

Congrats for toughing it out!

Day Two in The Bag!

Tuesday, June 07, 2011

Oh thank golly!

Ugh, i'm still not completely rid of my flu like i thought it was. Second week of it, i guess that's why they call it flu? I woke up at 3am with my throat dry and feeling like it was closing over. Nice! I've had some medicines and throat sprays today. My voice has been on it's way out. Ah.

Day two. Just level 1 of the Shred again. Still hating those side lunge raises. I can tell how much fitter i am though as the bursts of cardio are so much easier than they were when i did level 1 some months back. Always feels good to notice progress eh? =)

A P90 session awaits me for tomorrow. I'm both excited and very scared.

I leave you with a picture of my dinner. A nice little sweet chilli marinated salmon fillet with a new quick and easy "Innocent" veg pot i thought i'd give a try!

The veg was so amazingly tasty, i got a link! Have a peak, whaddya think?

May I just say: nomnomnomnomnom... eh, carbs, shmarbs, love the combo! We're finally getting around to trying a new recipe, Lentil, Sweet Potato & Coriander Stew. It'll be good to get the veggies in after last nights, uh, döner excursion... emoticon

Good for you on getting back into exercising and not overtaxing yourself. I still dream about those side lunges, lol! But they sure were great for the behind!!

Nothing like noticing that it's getting easier! I did the same workout today & can now use 5 lb weights instead of 3s on the strength & 3lbs for the cardio. The flu takes a while to get over so listen to your body and don't overdo it.

Hope you're 100% soon!

Well done on day 2. Good to see the progress - a great motivator.
A weird stalkerish thing - but I reckon that's a Tesco salmon fillet?! I had one the other day at Mum & Dad's, went to enter it into the tracker under 'food shared by other members' and there you were - I stole your nutritional information!
I tried to replicate that for my dinner tonight; I baked some salmon in the oven with some chilli flakes and sweet chilli sauce, but it wasn't the same! Had mine with broc and asparagus (the Mr is away on Business, so made the most of not having to have spuds with everything)!

@Pookie....the carbs are not high at all. Its 10g of carbs per serving which is actually really low. It's what I eat per meal on my low carb day (I carb cycle). Additionally, most of the carbs come from fiber so it's the kind of carbs that you want :-) Even if she ate the whole pot it's the abt the same amount of carbs as a serving of oatmeal.

@ Steph...ahm, girl you need more protein for sure! With all those weights you lift you should be eating between 4-6oz of lean protein with your meals :-)

Some Good Coming

Friday, June 03, 2011

I'm starting to feel some positivity coming back!

A massive THANK YOU for all the well wishes from everyone and tough talk... thank you guys, everybody made me smile, each and every comment on my last blog, so - THANK YOU! xx

I'm starting to feel a lot better in the head-wise. I've even thrown a few star jumps today... LOL. I'm getting better, still a bit green *tmi* but GETTING there. I'm resting tonight again just to be sure and then will try for a workout for Saturday. I counted up before and was pleasantly surprised that my last workout was only on Monday - so i'm only down 4 days, whereas i thought it was about 6ish so i'm happy about that.

Then hopefully will be starting my challenge tomorrow.... !

A Delay

Wednesday, June 01, 2011

*sigh*
I've been dreading coming here and being embarrassed... but i have to 'check in'. On Monday i really thought i was getting over my cold. Tuesday morning i was fantastic, then it all went downhill from Tuesday afternoon. I decided to wait for my challenge to coincide it with June starting, and thought it would be better and felt i had a good excuse to start the challenge on the first.

Today i'm even worse. I have dosed myself up though so i just need to fight this. I have never ever felt unwell enough to push myself to workout...... until now. =( I'm ashamed and annoyed with myself but i really can't manage it right now. I'm sorry, to everyone cheering me on. I'm sorry for sounding like a broken record.

I need my bed.

Oh no :( Don't blame yourself, that just happens. Flu/colds always hit me in the worst times, too. Just go to your bed and get as much sleep as you can, drink a lot and take the time you need!

What is important is that you take care of yourself-- some day that means resting! We all know how strong you are and that you will accomplish the challenge that you set for yourself when the time is right (whether or not that happens to be the first day of the month:) Healthy vibes and positive thoughts being sent your way!!

Don't be ashamed! Sometimes your body just has to enforce the rest. Just think of how good you'll feel when you get back to it stronger than ever, and not struggling through.
