Weekly Challenge Complete

Friday, January 28, 2011

I had an abs challenge this week with my Sparkfriend (ANGELWINGS emoticon) from the Torture Chambers and my other Sparkfriend - the self-challenge queen herself (FITJEANS emoticon) joined us in it. Challenge was 300 straight crunches, 150 crunch with twist and 150 elbow to knee crunches.

At the start of the week i got a little scared and really doubted myself being able to complete this challenge. Well i have thrived from it all week... i have worked my butt off and then pushed for the challenge. As of tonight i have the challenge complete, I have 420 crunches in, and 150 each for the twist&elbow. Woohoo i feel great and really pleased with myself!! Oh and i have 240 pushups in too!

I'm loving the high i'm on at the moment.... i am able to truck on and i am happy and wanting to work out. I'm a little surprised the motivation has lasted all the way through January - and grateful for it, and proud of it too. I've had one rest day this week since Sunday - that feels amazing too.

I want to go for a run tomorrow. I have laid my clothes out ready and i'm putting a playlist together on the Ipod. I chickened out last weekend. My alarm went off and i switched it straight off. Ack. I really want to do it though - to show myself i can again. So i am going to push for it. I have to be in work around 8:30am anyways so i plan to get up 6:30am and go run and shower before work. It's gonna be -2 in the morning apparently - but as soon as you've got going and get warm, everything's fine. I hope i remember this when i feel the cold in the morning haha. Oh and i'm motivating myself by driving to the beach to run! There should be other runners there too! COME ON STEPH YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Have a great weekend Sparkers! x

WOW! That is absolutely astounding! You're a machiiine hahaha. That many crunches is crazy, so you should be proud! I do 60 regular crunches and 24 bicycle crunches (in sets) on my strength training days and that kills me hehe, I feel like I need to step it up now :P
Bravo on all your progress Steph, you are fabulous!!

Quick One

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

Just a quickie.

Abs were sore today and feeling it... wasn't sure whether i'd get my scheduled abs workout in after my cardio tonight... BUT, i pushed through it. I don't know HOW but i just thought to myself "WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM THIS?"... no pain no gain. Some good old self talk and self motivation. I think it even stopped hurting for a while. This is what it's all about.

I have 300 straight crunches in for the week already. Part of the challenge complete by Wednesday - what's that all about? I DID NOT expect to be able to do this so quickly, sooo i plan to push for more on Friday, for luck! 120 twist crunches and 120 elbow to knee. So 30 each left to do of those to complete challenge. Oh and i'm upto 210 with the pushups (Those are feeling HARD this week too)... which i think might be over the goal for the week? lol!

Still a happy bunny!

Infact I talked to myself last nite. I tried to quit on the tread mill, and i wind up asking myself the same questions you asked your self.

YOur abs are sore, awesome. That just means you are getin some major results. Like loss of inches. Woo hoo! So proud of you, you ae provin that all of this obtainable. Def not worried about your work out, bcuz when your able to do all of that. It just means that you have increased your strength. Im giving that strength a 9 chica! emoticon. You are so emoticon.

On A Roll !

Monday, January 24, 2011

Talking about being on a roll - i was on a roll with my abs workout tonight!!

I'm so happy with January... i just wanna give it a big ol' hug and a big wet kiss. I would thank January - but it's not January that did this is it? It's because *i* took charge. Just like each and every one of us CAN DO.... if we want it, and if we want it bad. We can TAKE CHARGE of our actions and PUSH for what we want. Hell yeah. So.... thanks *me* for really trying this month, haha, i have showed myself what i can do.

I had a small 35mins cardio tonight, working my legs after yesterdays long walk. It felt good and i could feel the muscles working some more. Then i had my abs workout. I have challenged myself (Plug: FITJEANS - Get me - i'm taking your advice and CHALLENGING MYSELF... just like you do every day! =D) and a good friend from the TORTURE CHAMBER is joining me on the challenge (Plug: ANGELWINGS - oh yeah we're doing it!!) to do 300 crunches, 150 twist crunches and 150 elbow to knee crunches this week. Well i am so pleased to say i was ON A ROLL during this workout and i have under my belt for this week already....
180 crunches
60 twist
60 elbow
oh and 30 mod pushups in there. And plank, and some back extensions to even it out a bit. Much more than expected tonight, PHEW!

Funny thing is, i ended up doing a lot more crunches than planned. I don't know how it came about but was talking with my darling after i'd finished (or so i thought) and i asked him to stand on my tummy on my abs. I used to do this back in the day with my friend. He stood on me for a while and was impressed i could hold him haha. Then i got an idea and asked him to sit on my abs. So with my little rest i had a burst and knocked out 30 crunches with him sitting on my abs - woo! That's 153lbs on my abs whilst crunching, LOL! That's another achievement btw - i've NEVER weighed less than him, and NOW i do! Yay!! Anywho i was on a roll!!

Just had a trout fillet filled with spinach and ricotta and a mix of carrot/courgette/sweetcorn/peas... yums! I am full up!

One last thing i wanted to mention. I think i am starting to feel and see my progress this month...i feel a little smaller in my skin, in my body, if that makes sense? I got down to do pushups tonight and my arms looked leaner.... i was doing squats and i felt that my legs were leaner... i don't know whether this is just the endorphins or inner confidence... i'm doing a whole measure up at the end of the month so i'll compare , i think my last measures were the end of October.

I'm just so pleased with my efforts right now. emoticon

Anticipating The Last Week of January

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Happy Sunday!

I am very pleased to be entering the last week of January with my head held high. I've had a really fantastic month - i couldn't have asked for it to be any better. Well, let's not get too far ahead - it isn't over yet haha. I lost 2lbs today so i am over the moon and very very happy. I walked into town with my husband today (we walked over 4 miles there and back) and now we're pretty sore. I've eaten fruit and cereals today and bought some funky tops for my Honeymoon. Funky tops i never thought i'd be able to wear... they're fitted t-shirts, cute small ones i only ever thought i'd see on skinny people walking past me... and now, now I get to wear one too!! Not that my goal was to wear something skinny people can, but it's so nice to shop in normal shops, the nice designer shops i would look in the window at.... now i am standing in line waiting to purchase something i really like! Woo!!

So the general feeling of today is just total happiness and lots of confidence. I feel great. And i know that it's down to all my effort, into thinking about what i'm eating - thinking why i am eating it, exploring my taste buds and trying new recipes, AND on the other side, pushing myself in ways i didn't know i could physically - i pushed for 300 pushups last week and WOW, this is huge for me!! Also on the cardio front... i have been kicking my own butt - and totally loving it!!!

Let's go January, let's see out January with a BANG to 2011. I have 2lbs left to reach my goal... maybe i will be at my goal weight - in a healthy BMI, to begin the month of February!

Warning - Bikini Pics. :s Gentle Honesty Encouraged!!

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Whew, i never thought i'd do anything like this.

So I bought a bikini the other day. It kinda fits. It's just my belly that is the main thing i hate / am self conscious about... and am unsure about. I hope my hard work will pay off, i just don't know if the skin can ever get tighter there...

So um, we have front views...

And a little closer,

Ok and much closer on the front...

I don't know if you can see the stretch marks and hanging skin at the bottom of my belly but... maybeee people don't look that closely at you?

Ok now side view...

And a closer side view

I hate the bottom 'sag'! And the fat seems to sit just above my belly button.

So i want some brutal (more of the gentle sort) honesty.
1. Would this scare you if you saw me by the pool/beach?
2. If this was you - would you venture out in a bikini looking like this?
3. Am i one of those silly girls wearing a bikini when i shouldn't? Making people go "Ohhh no - whyyy doesn't she cover herself up?!"?
4. Should i wear this bikini on my honeymoon?

I still have 2 months to work on the belly. Is it gonna be possible?

Thank you in advance. I'm going to hide away forever now.

As a mother of three, I've got that pouch too. I'm 52 and won't be showing it in public, but I was scared when I was skinny pre-babies (whole nother story) but that does not mean you should not!

You look great and you can wear it a little higher in front and no one will notice cause all the rest is to die for!

I just looked at your ALL your photos and had to edit this:

Baby you must love yourself and do it for you first!

I realize this was a few days ago... but I just wanted to thank you for posting these pics. My tummy looks almost exactly the same way. I have really struggled with the idea that I will never be able to show it again. The fact that you've posted these pics, and you're self conscious, but you're doing it anyway, it's really inspiring. It makes me feel like maybe someday I can wear a bikini too. And if you feel confident, wear it. You look beautiful. You've done an incredible thing. If I saw you, and took the time to notice that you have some stretch marks, I would think, Wow. That girl must have lost a lot of weight. That is so amazing, what a rockstar. :)

Dont worry about what others say cuz if they dont like it then dont look. Girl where that binkin on your honey moon. You may not lose all that bulge and the strecth marks, they're going to be there.     Girl the only thing that matters is how you feel in that bikini. If you feel great then wear it! Don't giver other people the power to determine your joy because then you will never have it. My mom, God bless her cuz she thought she was helping, used to make fun of my stretch marks and tell me mean and horrific things that parents should never say to their kids. It took me a long time to get over it and I finally did...now I can't give a rat's a$$ about what others think. It's my body and if you don't want to see it then don't look.

Ok first things first I would totally wear that bikini...Shoot I wear one anyway and I have a different belly problem than you. No matter what I do my belly kind of folds over my belly button. When I lose weight and start getting smaller the little rollover does too, but it is still there. We can all tell you what we think, but here's the thing you have to make the decision yourself. Ask yourself: Am I going to wear this and shy away or am I going to stand tall and be proud of how far I have came. There are many types of people in the world, and unfortunately some are a$$hole$. At the end of the day the only person you have to impress is YOU. Everyone here is going to be supportive because that is why we are all here. I heart you and hope that my comment helps. If you take nothing else from this blog please take with you that the ONLY person you have to face at the end of the day is YOU (mirror), and while I think you should totally wear this bikini and be proud that doesn't mean you will. Don't allow other people to take away from your accomplishments, confidence, and your day that is not their right.
P.S. Love your guns

Steph...you look great. We are always more self-concious of ourselves than others are.

Let me tell you 2 things...
1. the folks I saw this summer at the water park here in Houston had NO shame whatsoever...there were women in bikini's that were very overweight and did not CARE!! Their self-image was remarkable--they did not care what others thought.
2. I, personally, don't think I would ever wear a bikini, but I bought a "tankini" and I was comfortable--I carry my weight in the belly, hips and thighs...but, I was not self-concious!!

It all depends on YOU--how do YOU feel!! Others will always have their opinion...but, how you feel is most important.

You look GREAT!!! emoticon

emoticon You have come a long way!! emoticon I really, really admire your courage to post pics of yourself in a bikini- there's no way I could do it emoticon

1.Personally, I would NOT be disgusted by you at the beach.

2.My body is very similar to yours, I am totally self conscious about my belly and my thighs- so no I couldn't wear it. I'm the type that would rather wear a full body suit emoticon

3&4.Here's the thing- If you are confident and proud of how you look (which you should be!) then you go on your trip and rock that bikini!
You won't be able to do anything about the loose skin (without surgery) but you can keep working on your muscles and "the fat that seems to sit above your belly button" emoticon

Steph, I am actually kind of jealous, because I know I am no where near ready for a bikini. Yes, you do have a little "saggy" pouch to work on, but you look great. If I were you, I would definitely be wearing that on your honeymoon.
