Let's not kid ourselves !!

Saturday, February 22, 2014

Anyone who is successful at this knows it isn't 'easy'. Yes, it may be more fun some more than others, but if we are all honest with each other, it takes dedication and work.

WE CAN DO THIS . We only have one body to take care of. Only one place to live.

Most things worth having don't come easy. If they did, they'd hold less value and we'd let them slip away.

Absolutely. I was just looking at BEFORE and AFTER pictures on one of the sites I found connected to Spark. I think there were 625 pics all together. I didn't get that far! Not nearly, but it was exciting to see the transformations all the people made. We can lose weight.

Kids DO listen !!!

Tuesday, February 11, 2014

My (16yr) son finally got a job . He works at McDonalds and puts in some long hours. He explained they could have a free sandwhich if they worked at least a 5 hour shift. I said that was good, but hated to see him eating McDonalds 4 days a week because that wouldn't be good.

I realize taking meals with him aren't really an option at this point and just figured we'd make sure we do NO fast food at home now because he will now have his share. (we did it maybe once a month before)

My son was talking to me last night and mentioned that when we works a 5 hour shift he was going to eat the grilled chicken since it's probably the healthiest they had. He explained how there is no grease released from it when he cooks them (he works grill) and it should be the best for him. I was SHOCKED !! He has actually been paying attention to what I've been saying (and seeing all that grease in those foods help too).

I was very proud though that he has made a good decision on his own without me saying anything to him. He will learn to make better choices which will help him as an adult.

Good for your son (and you)! It's amazing how they actually do absorb what you say (despite the fact it appears they don't).

Congrats on his job!!!

Crashed and charred.

Monday, February 10, 2014

I can blame it on the weather, but yea, it's my fault.

I'm picking myself back up (I don't want to say I crashed and burned, I just got charred a little bit).

I'm seeing the after affects I allowed from being snowed in and doing nothing but eating for an entire week. Then out of town over the weekend and continued my eating.

Shocking and sad how you can gain weight twice as fast as you can lose it. Bummer. Well , I knew it was a risk I was taking with my behavior but we ignore the obvious sometimes. The good thing is I finally stepped on the scale and it was like a slap to the face. OUCH ! That hurt. I giggled a bit and decided all that food really wasn't worth it after all and I'm on track today and may throw in a few extra workouts to make up for last week.

Oh well, it happens (and yes, my downfall was the pizza binge from two weeks ago, I never got 100% back into the grove.... then allowing myself that candy I never eat at home). I allowed it to snowball and latterly being snowed in for 7 days of not leaving house made it so much worse.

I brushed myself off so I can jump right in. Glad I have a workout tonight and looking forward to it.

I think I gain weight three times as fast as I lose it. Winter always does me in. I must get creative and find ways to move more. Your blog made me feel a little better to know that I am not the only one who goes through this. But, emoticon

It is unfair how fast it comes back on, and how easily good habits are dashed. Planning and not allowing yourself to slide down slippery slopes after a slip are the keys, right? Dust off and move on!

I'm heading back to the recumbent bike in a few, I thought I was close to my daily steps... but I'm 1500 away!
Off I go!

Good luck this upcoming week. The cold weather got to me on Saturday and I never went outside which meant I didn't get my steps in. Really could see what a couch potato I was that day.

Charring you can scrape off. You know what you did and even more important, you know what you need to do. You have the right attitude. Shake it off and get back on track. As for the scale, when you SPARK, what when up will come down.

Good luck this week. emoticon

Be happy if you weigh more than you thought you should !!

When we begin to get close to our goals we need to remember that magical things happen. We also need to get that "magic number" that we want to weigh out of our heads !!

That really goes to show, we are all unique and need to get healthier not necessarily so much thinner. But 150 on my 4'11'' frame would make me content. emoticon
