Sunday, October 24, 2010

I just set a new goal for myself....primarily to motivate myself to get into a higher gear! LOL!!! My goal weight is 140....and with my height at 5'6", this is a good BMI range......I am medium boned that a proper excuse for not going lower....LOL!!
I actually cannot imagine anything lower than 140... emoticon

*** Stats ***
Abs: 28"
Waist: 27.5"
Bust: 35"
Hips: 38"
Glutes: 39"
Thigh: 18"
Bicep: 11.5"
I need to lose inches and slim down further......
I am toned, but I want to be LEAN. I am striving for definition....wish so much that I could afford the Tony Horton's P90X program!!! I am back to Shredding with my Quick Fire routine daily....this has me feeling very sore right now - Yes!, a good thing! ...I know! LOL! means {Results}!!
I just need to rev things up to speak! ...that's where P90X would come in...anyhow....{{ I will do my best.}} emoticon
I am glad I have my eating in order....that's a plus! emoticon

Those of you that are maintaining, or have struggled successfully with the last 10 or so pounds, please shed your light on this particular part of the journey as it appears tough for me.....
I would appreciate your suggestions and comments! emoticon
emoticon in advance!! I will journal my progress here at SP...where else can I find such emoticon support?!

I had an initial weight in mind when I started this journey -- 155# -- a size 12. I've been there before during my adult life; thought it was a reasonable goal. I'm taller than you (5'8.5"). When I found Spark People I decided to adjust my eating/exercise to patterns that were sustainable -- not a "I'll do this to lose, then add __ back in or quit ___." When I reached 155, I chose to continue eating and working out at the same level -- I didn't feel deprived or hungry or exhausted or ___ -- so I just kept doing the same things. I kept losing and then leveled off at 145 for several months ... then lost a few more this summer. Now I seem to be in the 140.5-143 range. I think if I keep making healthy choices, I'll weight the 'right' amount ... I hope you don't let any particular number take higher precedence in your life than just maintaining healthy choices. You are doing amazing!

Well, since I'm NOT a 'maintainer' yet, I have nothing to offer you in the way of advice, but I wanted to be your cheerleader and say, "YOU CAN DO IT". I have to tell you a funny story and hopefully this will tickle you as you're exercising. When I had 3 that were 2 and under, I was trying to do the Tony Little exercise program. He would continually say, "You can do it". I was EXHAUSTED trying to do the exercises [I mean I just had 3 children in 2 years! emoticon]and I PLOPPED on the floor and stared at my 3 babies. Nicholas [now 20] said in his SWEETEST little toddler voice, "Come on Mommy, YOOO CAN DOOOO IT!" I LAUGHED til I cried! emoticon

In my opinion, strength training is the best strategy for losing those last pounds/inches. And the inches are really what counts. That means you are losing fat even if the scale doesn't change because you are adding muscle. The weight may appear to be the same, but it will be a healthier weight.

My 10th Wedding Anniversary

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

Today my husband and I celebrate 10 years!! I am so thankful for him!
I give God the glory for our wedded years, and 9 years of parenthood too
.....being parents to our 4 children has grown us spiritually to mature unselfish adults....the 'full steam ahead version'. emoticon LOL! I have grown more in the last ten years than in my 24 years prior! God does all things well!
I wouldn't have had it any other way! emoticon

I have learned to trust the heart of the Father, to exercise blind Faith and to put on a willing, cheerful spirit of obedience. I have learned to be still before God, and open my mouth with wisdom when discussing matters with my DH. I have learned to pray first, and speak later.... I have learned to wait and be content.

One of our favorite quotes to bring peace during a misunderstanding is, "I am not your enemy and you are not mine." This established quote has brought peace and a solution to many an issue. emoticon
Our love has deepened because of JESUS, and His Love and passion for us.
Both of us know that our needs can only be met in Christ alone....our dependency upon the Lord has grown us, and challenged us to maturity.

{{{ Praise the Lord great things He has done! }}}

A beautiful large bouquet of flowers was delivered to my carnations and roses, Gerber daisies, and mums, and different delicate lilies......yellows, purples and reds...Very Cheerful Bouquet!
A card was attatched handwritten by my husband too.... emoticon
We'll celebrate our special day this weekend alone....Mom and Dad are taking care of our little ones.

Congratulations on 10 years. That is a mile stone.
Ironically I am celebrating today as well, but it is 37 years. God has proved himself faithful.

May you dwell with your family in the fullness that only living for Him can give. Only God can know what is to come for you & your dear ones. If we knew ahead of time we would not have the fortitude to move ahead. Nonetheless, God's grace is sufficient for whatever circumstance that you may have in the coming years.

Back from Vacation/Spark Lifestyle intact!

Sunday, October 17, 2010

emoticon{{{ I'm Back! }}} emoticon
....I LOVE coming back "home-sweet-home"...there is no place like it in all the world!....and now for a nice hot cup of tea......

Well, we traveled through 10 states, over 3,600 miles and experienced a 'whirlwind' of a journey! The Lord Blessed us mightily, and it is a miracle that we remained in excellent health 100% of our trip! One family member we visited had strep throat, and another bronchitus, and another a stomach virus!! emoticon ...let me tell ya, I leaned heavily on God, and stood in Faith for His healing...He kept us!!! Amazingly, there were 'family conflict's in some of the homes we visited when we arrived, but the Lord kept us ....He is always Amazing, and I give Him ALL the Glory! We ended up praying with the family through their difficulty, and the Lord brought the increase....Peace! We Praised and Prayed and saw God's hand work mightily in each family. It's not what we were expecting for a vacation, but God knew best.

Truthfully, this journey has been a Huge spiritual seemed that everywhere we went, each family was under some sort of attack or trial. I Praise the name of Jesus for spending us at His pleasure. That is what we are created for, for Him to use us according to His Will. I am also glad we didn't know about any of these 'home conflicts' or we would have stayed home....LOL!!! ...that's my flesh speaking..... I am glad to trust the Saviour in all things. =)

We visited Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois and Tennessee. The colors of autumn were beautiful esp. in the Shenandoah Valley, Cumberland Mtns. and my Favorite colors were the Middle Appalachian Mtns.....I personally loved Tennessee and Virginia!! The climate was a cool 42 in the eve/morn and a high of 75 during the day....just perfect!

I am so happy to tell you that I remained true to my healthy lifestyle with wise mindful eating and fitness daily!! This is Proof that I truly have a Spark Lifestyle!! emoticon emoticon emoticon is not an easy task to maintain this lifestyle when food choices can be limited on a trip... it was a challenge!!...LOL! I am just so thankful, and relaxed about this adopted lifestyle...My Lifestyle!! LOL!! I didn't gain a pound or lose one....I'm happy with that...I hope to be in the 140's soon. emoticon

Now on to our home school schedule, and embracing this gorgeous Autumn season......I just love this time of year!
Today is also my son's 9th birthday! We are having Fun!

a word about "resolve"....

Thursday, September 30, 2010

Tonight at our family BBQ, I faced a challenge....... I had planned to enjoy eating grilled meat over a light dessert, of course. {{I was resolved!}}

...there were a few people who were DETERMINED to see me eat the dessert....I mean - DETERMINED! I am telling was a conspiracy! LOL! emoticon
I mean it! If I had not formed this lifestyle, and if I were not walking in it with Joy and pure abandon and RESOLVE, I would have certainly given in....
I moved away from them and they FOLLOWED me! They were resolved.....LOL!

It was so weird....they wouldn't leave me alone...."would you like some of this ?"....or "how about another helping of this?".....I began to think I was under attack! LOL!!
...and perhaps I was at the end of a of much to do.
I was exhausted and Hungry!!

You see I have this plan that covers me 365 days a year.....a plan to live with intention.
I am focused and intentionally planning each day as if it were my last. I am an 'all or nothing' kind of gal.....
I cannot imagine ....after all of the self discipline it has taken, and all of the yielding to the Holy Spirit through out this journey.....ever yawning my way through to the end...LOL! ...nope that's not my style.....or giving in so casually and damaging what I have worked for for so long. When I Enjoy a special dessert or "whatever", I really PLAN it, and intentionally savor each bite. I have ended the artlessness of eating mindlessly. You don't get the "bang for your buck" I don't enjoy the "bites" as much. =)

I confess, I stuck to my plan and enjoyed my food immensely....not craving the offered foods. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I pray to have this same resolve while on vacation......I have yet to experience the challenges of eating healthy on vacation.....but I am RESOLVED.
.....I am running this race with intention, and cheering loudly for those with me is my lifestyle! LOL!

...sparks are flying!

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

Wow! We are one week away from our 11 day family vacation - {I am prepared!}
We have been counting down the days since May! LOL!
This "autumn road" reminds me of what the view will be like in some of the states we will travel such as.....Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Maryland, Kentucky and Missouri....this will be a long trip at 3,5oo miles!

My plan is to check in daily in the evening with all depends on the internet, cabins, homes of family members...etc.
However...there is another way of "sparking"....this is through prayer. I most certainly will be in prayer for your needs as I have hid in my heart the challenges and needs of so many of my dear SP friends. So, I will be sparking you from a a Holy-Spirit Fire nevertheless! LOL! emoticon

" A Word About Our Current Events"

I love my job.... I'm a home school teacher. We have such a joy-filled flexible week ...every week! Last Saturday, my 2 daughter's hosted a tea party with their "sparked" the interest of the mothers of these girls to make this get-to-gether a weekly event - so tomorrow(every Wednesday) is our designated girl play day! I love the flexibility of our school schedule! Our children are involved at our church every Wed. eve with mission friends activities! They love it and they "spark" others with their own testimony! LOL!!
My son is genuinely glad to participate with his RA group(Royal Ambassador) at our church. I love to see my children grow in the Faith .....It is Magnificent! Praise The Lord! The Lord is doing a mighty work of revival in our church ...has for some time now!

{{{I see sparks flyin'! LOL!}}} emoticon
The hand of the Lord moves swiftly and obedience follows! This is a delight to watch and be a part of!

The Lord is doing a mighty work in my husband's life...Praise God! My DH was burdened to disciple the new believers in our church which are the fastest growing class!!! He is one of the teachers - a miracle in and of itself! God is reviving our hearts as one HUGE church body, and people have eyes to see, hearts to expect miracles, and the Faith to walk after God wholeheartedly!

Do you see the bonfire that we are headed towards? All of these sparks from individuals are lighting a Fire, and God is lighting His match! Wow!!
Thank You Jesus for choosing me to play a part in this movement! I am honored!

I pray that you come to expect Great things of God, that you have eyes to see His Majesty, and the Faith to follow when He calls you! He wants to do a miracle in your life! How does it make you feel that He is crazy about YOU!! LOL!! {He is!}
He so wants to show up in YOUR LIFE and SHOW OFF!!'s my lighted match ~ Laura

Where and when are you passing thru Maryland? Do YOu know I live there? sounds like an action packed trip. And much nicer weather to travel in than the summer---that is a perk with home schooling. One of my Spark friends just visited Mt. That might be really interesting to your kids and that is a great place to visit to learn more of George Washington.
