Week 12: Not a budge

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Week 12 and I'm not sure what to think. I have been on track and going strong and no change. So far this month I am only down 1lb. I have to be perfectly honest, with all my hard work it is slightly disheartening.

I am feeling slimmer and I guess I should have been measuring inches as well so I could see the changes more. DH says I am looking thinner and trimmer so that makes me feel like it is still on the go. Nothing much else to report.

This week I will try harder and not be discouraged into my old habits. I will stay strong and press on and something will happen. Patience is a virtue and I need to remember that. Keep on sparking and a fire will happen!

Lots of good advice here for all of us. I totally understand how you feel. My weight's not changing as much as I'd hope. But I do have more energy to keep up with my 30 5-year olds and that is definitely worth it!

Thanks everyone! You are all so good at motivating me and reassuring me and that's what I needed :) a little nudge forward is always good for the soul. I am going to try a few things different this week and yes..I may not run till the trick or treat trot, a whole week with no running, I may go into withdrawals..lol. I might just do the 30ds this week and change it up! .... Will see... The urge to run is pretty serious in me... Lol. I am going to do a few different things with my eating too and we will see.

I can definitely feel and see the NSV and no worries I am still sparking strong:) I cannot believe its only been 3 months here! I feel like I was always here I guess :)

Thanks for caring friends! Xoxoxox

Keep up the hard work and keep your chin up - it sounds like there are noticeable results even if the scale isn't moving as quickly as you would like it to. You'll get there, you're working hard and staying positive.

Agreeing with everyone else that you take measurements, because I'll bet that you're losing inches if not pounds. :)

And I'm also agreeing that if you bump up your calories a bit, or try a new workout, you might shake things up!

Bummer. But I love all PHAEDRAT's suggestions! Mixing up your exercise can do wonders, as can making sure you're eating enough. Sometimes, I find that if I bump my calories up to the top of the range (or slightly above) for a couple days, it seems to "reset my metabolism" and I start losing again. And yeah, totally take measurements. I imagine you are continuing to get slim!

Plateaus happen! And they are discouraging sometimes. I think focusing on those NSV like feeling fitter and more energetic, looking better in your clothes, and getting compliments from hubby is a great idea. Keep doing what you are doing and the scale will cooperate eventually!
In the meantime, there are several articles about plateaus here on SP, I used to read them a lot and get tips on how to bust through them more quickly. Here are the highlights: 1) change your exercise routine - when your body gets used to one type of activity, it gets more efficient and burns less calories. Add in some different cardio so you keep your body guessing; 2) eat enough calories! Too much exercise on too little fuel causes your body to hang onto the pounds 3) don't skimp on the strength training! Muscle burns more calories than fat and ST increases your metabolism, so you are burning more calories even when you aren't exercising.
You are awesome! Stay positive and keep sparking and have no doubt you will reach your goals!

I blame it on Fall, I think it somehow adds calories to the air.

I know it is frustrating to not see those numbers on the scale drop. As you know the closer you get to goal the slower the weight drops. You are thinking right when you think about how great you feel, how much stronger you feel and how fit you are feeling. During these times when the numbers don't drop keep all those NSV in mind and focus on them. Go back and read some of your first blogs, remember that addiction to fast food? You've come so far, not only for yourself but for your beautiful daughter; by doing the things you've done in the last three months will make a huge difference in your life and will help your daughter to learn early what it is to live healthy.

It's so hard to believe that it has only been 3 months since you joined Spark, you've become an important part of my day here, so not only have you changed your life, but you've changed mine. You are a part of my daily inspiration that keeps me motivated, so thank you for all you do.

Don't lose heart. Some months you lose and some you don't. I don't think anyone really knows why.
Just know that with all your work you will lose more weight soon. It's not an even thing.
Try to focus on how good you feel. That works best for me. It's not really about the scale, it's about health. I know the scale is so easy to see, but let it not be the judge.

I have been on a plateau for about 3 months. I admit that I am not as driven as you, but I still work at it. I have more energy and have lost inches in waist, hips, thighs and upper arms. I don't feel too bad about it since I can see some results. Don't let the scale rule you! emoticon emoticon

Check for NSV at this point in your journey they are so important. That number on a scale can make one crazy otherwise. Is your body reshaping? Do you have more endurance or drive these are all important too. You are doing great and you are so worth it.

I know the feeling, you feel like you've been doing something wrong & you probably haven't. I don't know why it takes women longer to lose weight than men ???
I didn't take measurements either, and it probably would have been a better thing to rely on - not the scale. Don't let yourself get down, you are doing great. Get our the tape and stay off the scale. emoticon emoticon
