The Value of Tracking

I am learning quickly just how important it is to track what I have eaten. I am surprised at the amount of calories, fat, and mostly carbs some of my favorite foods have.

Tuesday night is meeting night for our family, which means we do not have a lot of time to spend after work on preparing a meal. We usually just fend for our selves. So instead of a healthy proportioned meal, it was cereal or a sandwich or whatever was handy. I tracked everything I ate (which I am happy to say I am getting pretty regular at doing this) and found that the junk I ate caused me to go over my goals for the day. Wow I consumed about 2100 calories.

I have been reading The Spark. I have just finished chapter 5. I especially liked page 91 where it talked about being gentle with ourselves and use positive-self talk to keep our fire burning. So I bombed yesterday with the choices I made however, I am using this to realize just how fast the calories and carbs add up. I have the view that I will continue to learn from my fall backs and go on from here. I didn't beat myself up about consuming to much.

I have a new flame that is starting to burn brighter that wasn't there before. I am even looking forward to using my bike tonight. I also bought the new cardio music cd that is from SparkPeople and the music did motivate me to keep on cycling when I was getting tired. I am happy to report that I did the entire work out, which was 30 minutes.



I Am Tired of Being Tired, So I Am Going To Take Control Of My LIfe

Yes, I am tired of being tired all the time. I am Tired of having no energy and being depressed about my health.

I am a diabetic and I am having a hard time keeping my sugar levels under control, which is the reason I am tired all the time.

My sister told me about Spark People, and was very successfull in getting to her goal and keeping her weight off.

I started to use spark people a while ago, then I stopped.

I am a new grandmother and I want to be able to enjoy my grand daughter as she grows. I want to be able to keep up with her, run with her and just have fun like I used to when my children were small. So I am more determined now to take control of my life and work toward my goals of better health, better A1C numbers and of course weight loss.
