I'm seeing the light at the end of this long and winding tunnel!

Friday, November 09, 2012

Well what do you know! If you actually follow the Spark plan of tracking and staying within your calorie range AND including some physical fitness, eventually you'll see the results you want on the scale! Well...

11/7 266.8
11/8 265.4 (body is finally loosening up after that hike on Sunday)
11/9 264.8 - WOOT WOOT!

I've tried not looking at the scale everyday - it doesn't work for me!
I've tried only weighing in once a week - it doesn't work for me!

I NEED to weigh in every day and record it. Seeing that lets me know if what i did the days before was working or if i did something to throw my weight loss off - like taking in too much sodium. This may not work for everyone but it does for me.

This weekend i'm rearranging my bedroom and painting a wall in it. I want a par of my room to be dedicated to my hard work. So i'll be putting up a motivational board as well as a rack to hold any medals or ribbons i've earned.

I've thought about rewards for myself as well.

* at 75lbs lost i want a new bedroom sheet set. I've been eyeing this cute pink set.

* at 100lbs lost i want a make-over. I'll get my hair permed (I want large loose waves), and semi-permanent eyelashes placed on.

Yay! Congrats! I'm the same about weighing in every day. I hate the plateaus, though.

I know---it's amazing, isn't it!?!?! If we follow the plan, it ends up working!!! That was a huge revelation for me! I mean, I thought tracking food and drinking more water and adding small amounts of exercise, etc., was for other people. Lo and behold, when I myself finally tried it, it worked! Will wonders never cease? Woo hoo! Good progress!

Just remember that weighing every day it can go up and down. One day I was nine pounds heavier than the day before, then the next day it was down ten pounds. I do weigh every day, but only count my weight on weekly on Saturday. Good luck to you!

Plans and Foundation!

Thursday, November 08, 2012

Like any good project you need a plan and a solid foundation.

My plan? To lose weight
My foundation? exercise and healthy eating habits

2012 is just about over...only 53 days remaining. BUT i still have a ton packed into those days.

11/22 Dallas Turkey Trot
12/1 Great Santa Run
12/10 Deck the Trails
12/19 Jingle Bell Run

2013 is packed full of HUGE events for me.

2/23 Cowtown 10k (first 10k race i've ever done)
3/16 Dash Down Greenville (St. Patty's Day 5k)
5/25 Heels & Hills 1/2 marathon (first ever i'm doing)

Of course i will do my usual Race for the Cure 5k's in April, June, September and October. I will also do a Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas geared 5k's.

11/7 266.8
11/8 265.4 (body is finally loosening up after that hike on Sunday)

This evening i will be working on my action plan to train for the half marathon i have coming up in May. I'm extremely nervous about doing it. I want that medal and i know i need to finish it under 4hrs in order to receive it. Right now i just don't think i can do it, but given that i have 6 months to train i should be able to complete it.

The Scale is Only But a Small Measure of My Victories!

Wednesday, November 07, 2012

It's good to go back and SEE how far you've come. Sometimes the scale doesn't show us the entire story. But you cannot hide from a picture!

November 2011 I started off at almost 320lbs and today i'm at 266lbs. Just over a 52lbs lost but the pictures show such a larger triumph!

Some people may say that i've only lost 52lbs in the course of the year. That is a true fact, BUT...

My gains are much greater!
1) i can climb the stairs and not get winded
2) i ENJOY working out
3) I've lost a ton of inches
5) I'm more active
6) I enjoy long hikes that make me sweat
7) I now fit into 20's and 18's vs. 28's and 26's
8) I LOVE my calves - they're sexy!
9) I love my smile
10) I'm stronger then i was
11) I sleep better
12) I get my period every month now
13) I enjoy food and savor the tastes
14) water is my friend
15) I can paint my toe nails without hurting myself
16) I can sit in a booth and BREATHE
17) I can fly on a plane and KNOW the seat belt will fit around me
18) I have a lap
19) I can look down and see my boobs and not just my belly
20) I've RAN and wanted to run
21) I've completed 5k races
22) I've the co-lead of a walk/run group

23) I'm happier now then i was a year ago

You see, the scale doesn't show all the victories i've won over the course of the last 12 months. It's just but a small measure.

Vicky you know yo're one of my favorite people. I'm so proud of you and what you have accomplished. Your pictures tells the whole story and not just what the scale says. I agree with you too much emphasis is put on what the scale says. I'm so glad you went back and thought about all that you gained. Keep up the great work. I'm always here for encouragement. You Go Girl!

"Only" 52 pounds in a year? That is almost 1/5 of your body weight - awesome, fantastic, amazing!

Your list of gains is great, and I absolutely adore the final photo of you being active. Thank you so much for sharing this.

I am soooo very HAPPY for you! 52 pounds in a year is great and with the loss came so many more positives. I know your excitement! I was begining to get nervous about sitting in booths at restaurants. I couldn't cross my legs comfortably. Smiling and having real joy behind it is such an amazing accomplishment. You are doing awesome and I can't wait to see you blossom even more!

Looks like you had a super fantastic weekend & I'm really happy for you. I'm also envious that you can still wear short sleeves now. I think that Hurricane Sandy kicked winter into gear over here. :(

I LOVE the hands on the Pink T-shirt & your tu-tu!!!

November 1st Measurements

Thursday, November 01, 2012

It's been a while since i'm taken my full body photo's.

Funny how you always think you look great until you see the pictures... emoticon

So i have this picture on my fridge at home of this young woman that is stretching. I so want to have that pose taken when i'm thinner. I DID try to take a picture of myself doing it but i was laughing so hard because i could BARELY get my ankle in my hand long enough for my friend to snap the shot. But here's my attempt...

The pose i was going for is similar to this (but this is not the picture i have on my fridge):

November 1 Measurements

Weight: 267.2
Stomach 47
Hips 47.5
Waist 42.5
Thigh 24.75
Arm 13
Calf 16.25
Bust 45
Under bust 40
