hmmm...what to do now

Over the last 6 weeks I've gained and lost the same 9lbs. What I'm doing now isn't working. So I looked bck at times when what I was doing was working. So I need to change what I'm doing so that what I am doing is effective...so I can continue to lose weight and get healthy.

I was losing weight when I was eating right and burning around 800cals a day.

So what do I do now?
1) burn 800cals a day
2) eat healthy and within my range
3) streak until the end of the year
4) limit eating out to 2x a month
5) drink my water
6) stop drinking soda

A month ago I was at 55bs lost. Now I'm at 49lbs lost. I'm proud of wha I've accomplished this year. Could it have been better? Of course. But I haven't given up.

I've been pretty good about my diet this week. I stayed within range all but Friday (i went out and had a steak dinner and 2 margaritas and plenty of chips and salsa). I work out every day. I should be down this week but i took a peak at the scale this morning and i'm up! WHAT?! Frustrating. BUT i know that sometimes the body takes a while to catch up. So either last weeks binge eating is catching up with me now or mt workouts and staying on plan will catch up with me in the coming week. Regardless, i will stay the course!

Because this frustrated me i took a look back into my logs. I keep a notebook with everything that i do as far as fitness, measurements and weigh-in's go. Here's what i noticed. I haven't ran in about 2 weeks. I walk a lot but my pace has become more leisurely. Then i started thinking, "when was my last walk in which i worked up a good sweat?" It's been a while! So even though i'm still doing great things for myself, i'm in a comfort zone. I need to bust out of it now so that i can continue to drop the weight.

So what's my redirection for mid month?
* drink my dang water!
* burn 700-1000 calories daily...yes, daily
* get in more cardio and mix it up - make me sweat!
* jog at least 3x a week

Here's my original October fitness goals:
October 2012 Fitness Goals:
* Complete 2250 fitness minutes
* Walk/Run 100 miles
* Complete a 5k in under 50 minutes

October 1 - 15:
Completed 1957 fitness minutes
Completed 50.284 miles

BUT with my redirection i need to push myself just a bit more on my fitness goals.
NEW October Fitness Goals:
* Complete 4000 fitness minutes
* Walk/Run/bike 150 miles













Side Note: I have seven opportunities to complete the 5k in under 50 minutes. I have a scheduled 5k on:
1) Race for the Cure Denton 9/29 ...53 minutes :(
2) Race for the Cure Dallas 10/20
3) Trek or Treat 5k 10/28
4) SP Virtual Halloween 5k 10/31
5) Dallas Turkey Trot 11/22
6) Deck the Trails 5k 12/1
7) Santa Run 12/15

I also have a scheduled 10k on:
1) Cowtown 10k 2/23/13

I also have a scheduled half marathon on:
1) Heels & Hills 5/5/13

Other Walks:
1) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 10/6...DONE
2) STOP Diabetes 11/10

    Good luck on the race this weekend. I like the idea of burning a certain amount of calories instead of just fitness minutes. It would help make keep up the intensity.

I'm FINALLY seeing changes!

Yesterday was the 2nd sunday of the month. Every 2nd Sunday a group of friends volunteer at Dallas Life Foundation, a homeless shelter. The girl that oversees everything always takes pictures and it wasn't until she posted those pictures to facebook that i actually SAW the changes in my appearance.

October 2012 Fitness Goals:

* Complete a 5k in under 50 minutes

October 1 - 14:
Completed 1771 fitness minutes

Soreness ROCKS!

My thighs are SORE! I've been walking a new route that includes a number of hills and various inclines. I've walked this route for the last two nights (a modified shorter route last night). This morning my thighs are on fire! That just means the muscles are waking up baby!



Last night i wanted something sweet. I remember seeing a recipe on Sparkpeople...so i made a protein shake. In the blender i placed a frozen banana, about 8 ice cubes, a cup of water, a tbsp of creamy peanut butter, and a tbsp of protein powder. It was so YUMMY!

So the last Race for the Cure i did was back on 9/29 and here are som epictures i took from their site for that day...



If you look all the way to the right...thats me...looking grumpy but really i was just wet and cold

Non Scale Victories are the FREAKING best! OK...maybe that darn scale needs to catch up to the rest of me, but still...

On Sunday morning i got up at 7am (even though i so badly wanted to sleep in) and went for a 7 mile walk. Here's what i looked like:



I then walked another 2.8 miles that evening.



I've allowed myself one too many luxuries in the sodium department. Monday morning i was down almost 4lbs and this morning i'm right back up. I KNOW it should be a lot lower so i'm drowning myself in water today. BUT...it's one of those days where i just want to veg out on the couch when i get home. Back in the good ole days...errrr...i mean back in the old, not controlling myself days, i would grab a bag of cheesy puffs and a glass of ice cold coca cola and just watch a movie...oh, how times have changed. Now i think about doing that...just sitting here drooling about that actually...but i know better.

The end of the year is soooo stinking close and i'd like to start of the new year with a great blog about how much i've lost, what i've gained in other area's of my life...ahhhhh...it's just another 83 days away until the new year rolls around.

Hey, did i mention that EVEN though i'm still around 265lbs i fit into a 1x?!!! It's a little snug (not tight) around the belly, but who freaking cares! It FITS!!!! And the 18 yoga pants are getting to be a little loose...i LOVE IT!!!!

    This is awesome!!!! And thanks for reminding me there are 80 something days left until the New Year. I think I had already given up on myself for the holidays cause no one can actually LOSE during the holidays right??? LOL But you're totally right. All is not lost, and so many more NSV can be gained in 80 days.
