9/19 BLC20: Week 2...What Am i to do?

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Week 1 is DONE! And the results of an amazing first week? i LOST 3.6lbs!!!! WOOT WOOT!

What did i do in Week 1 to help me lose that weight? To be honest there were just a few things i did differently...
1) Stayed NEAR calorie range. I say NEAR because 1560 as my max is a little low for me...at least that's my opinion.
2) i gave up soda! For me that's a HUGE step. I think i'm on day 5 or 6...i haven't stabbed anyone yet, so i'm good for now
emoticon
3) I'm drinking ALL of my water

What are my plans for week2?
1) Stay near my calorie range...by near i mean within 200 calories
2) soda = BAD
3) Drink ALL my water
4) Continue plugging along with my fitness

My next 5k is next Saturday. It's the first one i'll be doing alone. Usually i have a friend with me, but she has a work class to attend for the next few months. So my time i ONLY dependant upon me...my goal is to get it under 50 minutes.

Last night as i was on the treadmill at home i decided to start running again...but at a slower pace on the machine. I ran for 22 minutes at a 3.8mph speed. I'll take it! It's a start to my running...hopefully i'll keep improving.

The normal...

Presidential Challenge

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Back in May i received the Bronze Presidential Challenge award. I just logged in my fitness for July through yesterday and as of September 6th i achieved the Silver Presidential Challenge Award. I'll be receiving my certificate and medal in a few weeks!

I took a snap shot of the page where it shows what i've achieved. I have my bronze medallion at home and now i'll have the silver to place right next to it!

My goal is to achieve Gold! I should be able to achieve it by years end. Then next year i'm aiming for Platinum (1,000,000pts)...and yes it's cumulative!

9/17 BLC20: What's happening now...

Monday, September 17, 2012

I WALKED my bootay off this weekend! I needed to play "catch up" with my miles for the month. I'm only 7.84 miles behind where i should be at as of last night. I KNOW i can easily complete my 100 walking/running miles for September even if all that i do is add an additional 0.5 mile to each of my walks.

I completed my Turkey Trot tutu last night.

I'll wear a brown shirt to go along with it and a hat of some sort to keep my head warm.

Here's what my closest now looks like:

So that's my Race for the Cure pink/white tutu, my Treat or Trek tutu and now my Turkey Trot tutu. I just need to work on my Deck the Trails/Santa Run tutu and i'm done!

Actually, i take a girls only picture with my sister and nieces and this year i'm making us all Christmas tutu's to wear. The last picture we all wore white shirts, black bottoms and these knee length red and white striped socks with fur along the tops. Very cute! So i'll be making a few more tutu's just for them.

I am on day 3 of no soda-pop! I'm a bit excited about it and i've realized just how easy it was for me to down glass after glass of soda whenever i went out before. A little lemon in my water and i'm good! I won't lie...i like it with some sweet and low for every other refill to change the taste up a bit.

So i'm thinking about signing up for another half marathon in 2014...They have DisneyRuns! And the finisher medals are amazingly cute! Oh, in case you didn't know the ONLY reason i signed up for the half in May is because i want to start collecting medals! SO to add some cute Disney medals would be AWESOME! I would actually LOVE IT if maybe i can get a bunch of Sparkies to join me...they haven't released 2014 because 2013 was just released. BUT i am so there in 2014.

The normal...

I like how to have planned out your goals for the challenge in a weekly format. I think it makes 12 weeks look less intimidating. Also congrats on working to cut out soda. I would not be able to do that. Mostly because my caffeine free soda is what keeps me going as I gave up caffeine for a few months. I like the freckles in your second picture for the make-up I think you should use them regardless of what else you do!

9/13 BLC20: Pink Vikings Day 2

Thursday, September 13, 2012

Let's talk about my goals!
A Spark friend commented that my goals may be too much. That I may want to reduce them since i'm already 12 days into the month and no where near the mid-point of achieving the goals i've set out for myself. I get it. She got it. I would have to double and on some days even triple what i've been doing. She was concerned and i appreciate it. BUT, i won't change my goals and here's why.

I won't change my goals JUST because it could be looked at as unachievable. If i set goals for myself and then change them mid way through because i slacked off and would have to work harder to achieve them...well, how is that any different then say having a menu planned for the entire day just to end up out at lunch with friends for pizza? Do i say, "screw it! I've already failed so let me slack off and make it easier on myself." NO! I say ok, i've messed up a bit so now i need to get back on target. SAME for my goals. I may not reach them, but no way in hell i'll change them just because i messed up a bit.

If we start changing goals mid way through how will I ever learn discipline? OH, and my 100 miles in a month is VERY doable. If you've read my blogs you will see i've done it before - for each of the last few months actually. Just because something SEEMS unachievable for someone else, does NOT mean it's unachievable for me.

Let's look at it another way. If a kid says to their parent that they want to be a doctor one day, yet the parent thinks it's unachievable - does the parent so no, sorry you can't do it because there's no way you are smart or determined enough? God i hope not! The parent should say, GREAT! But that means a lot of hard work for you ahead. You better stay determined.

I'm determined. I may slack off every so often - but I'll get there. AND even if i don't - at least i still reached for that goal.

Let's talk about weight loss!
I have a goal of losing 24lbs over the next 12 weeks. That's my goal and if you read a few blogs back you'll see that i wrote my SMART goal around how i'm going to lose those 24lbs. I understand that for some people that may seem like a lot in a short period of time.

Now...i've always set monthly weight loss goals for myself. MOST if not all of the time i fail to reach that goal. BUT i will always set HIGH expectations for myself. I've gotta reach for the high standards or goals. It's how i work. So let's not cast critical judgement and doubt on someone else's goals based on others capabilities.

I may not always reach my goals, and again, that's ok. I'm ok with that. But why reach for something that's easily attainable? What kind of goal is that? A goal should be something i work hard to achieve -so that i can celebrate loudly later on!

Let's talk about Halloween!
I think i've changed my mind about my halloween costume. I tried this last night...

I need red lipstick and red and brown pencil liner to fix the lips.

I need to glue and cover my eyebrows.

I need to use brown for the eyebrows versus the black.

I need lighter foundation to appear more porcelain.

I need to get pink blush for my cheeks

i will add the large face eyelashes - i just didn't want to waste them practicing

I need to make the white larger so that my eyes are a little bit bigger

I need to connect the eyeliner around my eyes

I think i really like this look. It took about 60 minutes to get this together and it's no where near what i want it to look like, But i did it based on the makeup i had on hand and i like it.

PINK VIKINGS stuff & goals...

Here's my schedule through Friday...
emoticon Wednesday : 8 (5am, 3pm) COMPLETED 8 miles, 101 minutes

Thursday: 7 (4am, 3pm)
Friday: 10 (5am, 5pm)

Wishing you the best of luck, as always! You have such a great attitude and I am in awe of you! I apologize if anything I said was offensive, as I never meant it to be hurtful, but only helpful. For MYSELF, I would need to revise goals.. I would rather have a bit lower goal set and then if I've already achieved it before the end, I'd make a new goal, but that is just me. Wow, and i really hope to do that. I think I set the goal of 15 lbs, though I'm usually getting 1 lb a week and if there is no plateauing or going backwards that's GREAT!..

I have learned to go slower in my weight loss.. but that nothing I DO to improve my health is wrong, even if it's a slower journey - 40 lbs down in a year is better than 20 or 10 or 0 .. if I was just sitting online ALL the time. The lifestyle changes for the long haul are for me the MOST important piece of this so that I can keep off what I do lose.

So, FYI, today with the TNT challenge (did your team participate in this one?) - I thought we needed to do 4 sets of 10-12 reps of each of the 8 exercises. I was part way into the 3rd set when I realized we only get a max of 24 points and you achieve that by getting 1 point for each exercise set you do.. so the fourth cycle doesn't count for points.. Nevertheless, I proceeded and did the full fourth cycle - another set of 12 reps for all 8 exercises, when I was about to drop.. I did it because I didn't want to do it just for the points and didn't want to quit on it just because I realized I wouldn't get extra points for that last cycle. I did it!

What is your Halloween Costume? Could be because it's 1 AM and I only slept 4 hrs last night that is causing me to be unable to place it.
