Let's talk about my goals!
A Spark friend commented that my goals may be too much. That I may want to reduce them since i'm already 12 days into the month and no where near the mid-point of achieving the goals i've set out for myself. I get it. She got it. I would have to double and on some days even triple what i've been doing. She was concerned and i appreciate it. BUT, i won't change my goals and here's why.
I won't change my goals JUST because it could be looked at as unachievable. If i set goals for myself and then change them mid way through because i slacked off and would have to work harder to achieve them...well, how is that any different then say having a menu planned for the entire day just to end up out at lunch with friends for pizza? Do i say, "screw it! I've already failed so let me slack off and make it easier on myself." NO! I say ok, i've messed up a bit so now i need to get back on target. SAME for my goals. I may not reach them, but no way in hell i'll change them just because i messed up a bit.
If we start changing goals mid way through how will I ever learn discipline? OH, and my 100 miles in a month is VERY doable. If you've read my blogs you will see i've done it before - for each of the last few months actually. Just because something SEEMS unachievable for someone else, does NOT mean it's unachievable for me.
Let's look at it another way. If a kid says to their parent that they want to be a doctor one day, yet the parent thinks it's unachievable - does the parent so no, sorry you can't do it because there's no way you are smart or determined enough? God i hope not! The parent should say, GREAT! But that means a lot of hard work for you ahead. You better stay determined.
I'm determined. I may slack off every so often - but I'll get there. AND even if i don't - at least i still reached for that goal.
Let's talk about weight loss!
I have a goal of losing 24lbs over the next 12 weeks. That's my goal and if you read a few blogs back you'll see that i wrote my SMART goal around how i'm going to lose those 24lbs. I understand that for some people that may seem like a lot in a short period of time.
Now...i've always set monthly weight loss goals for myself. MOST if not all of the time i fail to reach that goal. BUT i will always set HIGH expectations for myself. I've gotta reach for the high standards or goals. It's how i work. So let's not cast critical judgement and doubt on someone else's goals based on others capabilities.
I may not always reach my goals, and again, that's ok. I'm ok with that. But why reach for something that's easily attainable? What kind of goal is that? A goal should be something i work hard to achieve -so that i can celebrate loudly later on!
Let's talk about Halloween!
I think i've changed my mind about my halloween costume. I tried this last night...
I need red lipstick and red and brown pencil liner to fix the lips.
I need to glue and cover my eyebrows.
I need to use brown for the eyebrows versus the black.
I need lighter foundation to appear more porcelain.
I need to get pink blush for my cheeks
i will add the large face eyelashes - i just didn't want to waste them practicing
I need to make the white larger so that my eyes are a little bit bigger
I need to connect the eyeliner around my eyes
I think i really like this look. It took about 60 minutes to get this together and it's no where near what i want it to look like, But i did it based on the makeup i had on hand and i like it.
