What are my August 2012 Goals?

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

So it's easy to see that i can do a lot in the gym...yet the scale isn't moving much. And i've said it month after month...it has to be my eating! So...

My August goal is to STAY within my calorie range 25 out of the 31 days.

My plan is that, much like my exercise update, i will simply say how many calories i had eaten the day before. This may sound simple to some...but it's the hardest part for me to actually control. And it's the most crucial part that needs to be controlled. Without a proper eating plan, no amount of exercise is going to help me lose weight. So August is the month to get my eating habits under control!

So here's how i'll report everyday...

Date:
Calories Eaten:
Calories Burned:
Fitness Completed:
Yearly Miles Completed:

I'm not so much focusing on what i'm doing in regards to my workouts, as they are pretty solid in my routine. BUT i still want to watch what i'm doing. I still have my yearly goal of completing 1500 miles.

"Without a proper eating plan, no amount of exercise is going to help me lose weight"- This! I learned very early on that you can out exercise a bad diet, even a so so diet :) I do believe when people say diet is 80% of weight loss. I love this new goal and here is hoping that scale takes many dives emoticon emoticon

July 27-30th: July is almost over!

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

I cannot believe that today is the last day of July...this year is just FLYING by!

I have to admit, watching the Olympics while i'm on the treadmill or bike pushes me just a little further each time. This past Saturday and Sunday morning i watched the mens and womens road race while riding the stationary. After about 20 miles my butt and thighs are aching. How these people do it for 87+ miles is CRAZY!

But here's how i always look after a workout...

Then once i get home and wash my face, i'm like this...

Yes that is my tutu in the background. And yes, that is my exercise journal on the floor. Why is it on the floor? Because i was resting for a few minutes before i did my core workout...on the floor.

So something hit me last night...i have the wedding next Friday and i'm prepared for it. But there's something i forgot all about. These people are all dancers! I don't dance! Rather, i don't know HOW to dance. And to be honest, no one has ever asked me to dance. I guess that's a lie. I went to this Country dance club once and this older guy asked me to dance and when i said i didn't know how to dance, he just said, "well i'll teach you!" And while i was TERRIBLE he danced a few times with me and was trying to instruct me on how to move my feet. I'll be honest...i loved it! But this wedding...it's all going to be gyrating music...i'm sick to my stomach thinking about it...i don't want to be the log that just sits there. I only know about 4 people at this wedding and they all have somebody with them...oh well...i will drink a lot and maybe that will make me not notice that i'm alone and not dancing...

July 26th - New Goal to Keep Me Going!

Friday, July 27, 2012

So a Spark friend told me yesterday that maybe i needed a new goal to reach - that maybe could peak my motivation to workout with heart again. I mean, for the last few months it was to fit into that bridesmaid dress...as you can see i made it!

So last night i started thinking...and i came up with one! I have this "dress" that i bought at the Gap in a size XL back in 1998. Yes, you read that correctly...1998! I only got to wear it twice. It's not a dress i'd ever wear in public, but i want to fit into it. My sister hates the dress - she calls it an old librarian dress - my apologies to all of my librarian friends out there! It buttons all the way up and had a waist tie in the back. It does not even come CLOSE to fitting right now. BUT i'd love to button it and take a picture come New Years Eve!

LOL...please don't mind my mess. I just woke up and thought, "I need a picture for my blog!" See i think of you guys all the time. So that's my new goal. To fit and button that dress so that i can take a picture and send it to my sister!

Tonight's the Olympic Ceremony!!!!!! I cannot wait. My plan is to do core the entire time it's on...at least enough to do it until i feel like my insides are being ripped out!

I have been known to tell people when they ask about my motivaiton - "Sometimes I have none. Sometimes I cry and kick and scream my way through a 30 minute workout whining the whole time like a 5-year-old. But even if I'm kicking and screaming my way through it, I make myself do it." Question...did you feel a little better after?! I always do. :)

I have been going through the motions a bit lately but I think it is ok to "not feel like it" as long as you still actually do it. Action matters more than emotion in this case. emoticon

July 24th - Tutu Project Completed!

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

So on Monday i completely binged...and i admitted it to you all. So yesterday was a "pick yourself back up VICKY!" kinda day. I knew that the moment i got home from work i needed to just throw on my workout clothes and head to the gym. So, what did i do? I did just that. And the gym was so stinking empty...i loved it!

I did 18.93 miles on the bike, 125 crunches, and ST lifting/pushing/pulling 28,050lbs. I felt great! Then i went home to relax and work on my project.

So before i work on my project some more, i needed to get comfortable. I turned the TV on and popped in my Season 1 DVD of Mike&Molly (I love that show). And it wouldn't play. My DVD player of 14 years finally died on me. So i put my shoes back on and headed to Walmart to buy a new one.

NOW i'm able to work on my tutu...

I bought all of my supplies on Saturday...

I started making the tutu this way: using elastic...

But i quickly realized that i did NOT like it. So i changed to using ribbon and i simply love it!

And on me...it's sooooooooo poofy!

Supplies Needed:
Scissors
Tulle - i used about 15 yards of white and 8 yards of pink
Ribbon
Lighter

1) I started off my measuring my ribbon. Basically i wrapped the ribbon around me until two ends met. Then i added 4ft of extra ribbon. take your lighter and melt both ends of the ribbon. This will keep it from fraying.
2) Tie a knot 2 feet from each end of the ribbon. You will be adding your tulle between the two knots. The 2ft on each end you will use to tie it closed around you and to form the bow.
3) Measure and cut the tulle. I did not want a long tutu. So the tulle itself was about 6 or 8 feet long. When you buy it, typically it's already folded in half. So i took it (folded) and starting cutting the tulle into 2-3 inch strips. Then i cut each strip in half. Now you have tulle strips that are 3-4 ft long by 2-3 inches wide.
3) I used the slip know technique. I took the tulle strip in my hand and folded it evenly in my hand so that one end was the cut port and the other is the folded end. Take the folded end of the tulle under your ribbon and pull the loose ends through the loop over top of the ribbon.
4) if you want a FULL and POOFY tutu like mine you will pull it tight. If you want it more relaxed, you don't pull it as tightly.
5)Once you completely wrapped the ribbon in tulle (from knot to knot) you are basically done. Just tie the ribbon in a nice bow.
6) If you want, you can now add embellishments. I will more than likely ass sequins to my tutu as i want it to sparkle.
