I have been a runner now for two years. I started off really slowly, running about a fifteeen minute mile. My friends could walk faster than I could run. I remember one of my first long runs on the track I was behind an older woman who was speed walking. I figured I would lap her a few times while I was on the track. I couldn't pass her once, even if I tried.
Yesterday was the first time I really pushed myself to run fast. I wasn't timing myself, just figured I would go as fast as I could for three miles. I got to the end and realized my iPod was on a song that was usually playing when I just started mile 3. I went inside and loaded my iPod to the computer to see how long it took me to run three miles.
I was in shock! A 9 minute mile, the fastest I have ever run. It was unbelievable and exhilirating all at the same time. I never thought I could run that fast. I am not expecting miracles for the NYC marathon, but it really helps my confidence!
