Spark people's Healthy Reflection for today

Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made.

- Wayne Dyer

Own all of your choices

The choices you make today will determine the path that your life will take. When you sit back and look at the decisions you've made in your life, are you happy with the route you've paved? If you're not, make a change today. The next time you make a choice, ask yourself if this decision will lead you to the path you want to travel along. Set some new goals that will lead you to your dreams and then plan your course

How truthful is this thread? Wow, I pay daily for some of the choices I made years ago. However, the up side is I only made choices like that once and learned from them. Blessings on your day.

Went to the gym today emoticonWas too late for the ypump class I was thinking of taking so did the spin class(still late but there was room for me to sneak in)It's been at least 8 years since my last spin class, brought back memories of a dear friend , may she RIP. Teacher thought I handled it like an old pro emoticonJust like riding a bike emoticonWalked on the treadmill afterwards & wanted to take glutes & guts tonight w/dh but unfortunately he has to work late. Did emoticonnutritionally so far today except for the 2 pieces of chocolate/chocolate cake. Why can't I stop @ 1, ughhh! Oh well if that's the worst thing that I do today I will count my blessings! Had eyelash extensions put on over 2 weeks ago & they're finally falling off. I could have them removed but I remember how painful it looked when I saw someone having it done so I'm going to look funny for a little while until they all fall off but I don't care. I'm not willing to pay for that kind of pain when they can painlessly fall off for free. Here's hoping I don't lose any of my own lashes in the process. Have you ever had eyelash extensions? What was your experience?

Schedule a personal tune-up

Proper nutrition is part of the foundation of a healthy life. Your car needs the right amount of gas and periodic tune-ups to make it run smoothly and prevent future problems. Your body needs healthy food and periodic check-ups too. Make a goal to start treating your body the right way. Take care of yourself. Eat the right foods and make sure to visit your doctor regularly. If you start maintaining and tracking your progress, you will probably see dramatic positive results in the way your body runs.

So true! I went & had my thyroid checked & TSH # was high so they are changing my dosage again to a higher #. Here's hoping it will help tomorrow. I need to go back in 8 weeks to get rechecked. (my periodic pain in the arse check up, lol) I also noticed how cranky I got yesterday when I didn't eat all my breakfast before church. Was much happier afterwards when I could finish it.

Great blog; awesome quote. Thanks for sharing. Samuel Johnson had a lot of dedication and discipline; we can definitely learn from his example.

What you really learn from hardships

Sunday, October 02, 2011

Suffering is the tuition one pays for a character degree.

- Richard M. Rayner, M.D., SparkPeople member

What you really learn from hardships

"Perhaps you think this isn't very positive' sounding, but I find it helps people (patients and friends) put hardship, which is inevitable, to good use," says Richard. "People can use their suffering either to gain character or become bitter. The ones who choose bitterness live a long, slow death. The ones who choose character truly live." Richard is right on the money. Happiness and sadness don't happen to us--they come from within. The story of your life will be written with or without your help. The next chapter is happening while you read this. Will you wait to see what it says later, or will you help write it?

Making the most of your day

Saturday, October 01, 2011

Don't say you don't have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.

- H. Jackson Brown

Making the most of your day

Do you often tell others (and yourself) that you just don't have enough time? If you are like most people, this is probably something you think about at least once a day. It seems like our lives continue getting busier but time never grows in proportion. This quote reminds us that great things can (and have been) done with the time that we all have. What will you do with your time today?

Today I'm going skydiving. Taking my daughter to lead her cheerleading team & out for a dinner date w/my dh :)

You are exactly right. We all have the same amount of hours in the day. Just what we do with them is important.

It is funny you bring up time. People always ask me how I got healthy, lost weight and started competing, and I always say "Eating healthy and exercise." The number one response to this is "Oh. I don't have time to do all of that." Many people seem to want a magic bullet to get them what they want: happiness, a healthy attractive body, wealth, when all they need is a little drive, ambition, and dedication to work for a long term goal.
On my blog I often ask, "What is more important, Season 16 of Survivor (or insert any other inane show), or your health and the health of your family? I know I won't be able to change everyone for the better, but if I even inspire one person down a healthier path, I know the hard work I put in was worth it.

Thanks for all your insightful posts :)

Wow what a day you have planned. Enjoy it. I am up early and going to walk this morning. Then heading to Sleey Hollow, NY to see The Blaze (hundreds of lit hand carved pumpkins) with my grandson, who by the way so excited he can't wait to do this. Stay active and keep on Sparking emoticon
