Hi Sparkfriends!

I must admit my healthy life style goals are once again on the back burner being consumed by a lot of changes in my life.

My time with Spark has taught me that there is No Excuse that is acceptable for me to live an unhealthy life!

Pray for me as I recommit myself to my healthy life style.

Love,
Vera

I know that I put myself last all the time, so I don't take good care of myself. I'm trying to remember that I'm just as important as everyone else. I hope things get better for you and remember you are just as important.

Dear God,

You are Jehovah Jira, the God who provides all things. Please keep all the people on the coast safe through the night.

Please help the President and the FEMA team lead, help the First Responders, Fireman, Red Cross, Salvation Army and Rescue Teams find and help the people who are stranded and homeless tonight.

We honor you Father God, you know their needs and their future.

Our faith is in you.
In Jesus Name, we pray,
Amen

Love, Vera

A family member went to Maine last weekend and is still there. Today, I looked at the weather map and there is where the storm is.

Best to you!

Greasy French Fries vs. Baked Sweet Potato Fries?

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Hi!
Just a shout out to let you know that I am still with you!

I am going on 4 months since I stopped eating Fast Food.

The addiction is gone but the temptation to over eat is the battle ground now.

I am finding that if I deny myself something that I am craving, like french fries, I tend to eat anything and everything to satisfy my craving until I give in and eat it any way.

Tip: Substitute a greasy french fries and/or potato chips for a healthier small baked sweet potato or this great Sweet Potato French Fries recipe submitted by SparkPeople user NEWLIFE1974.

1 Serving = 122 calories; 5 g fat

Ingredients
1 large sweet potato, peeled and cut into wedges
2 teaspoons canola oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch of cayenne pepper

Directions
Preheat oven to 450°F.
Toss sweet potato wedges with oil, salt and pepper.
Spread the wedges out on a rimmed baking sheet.
Bake until browned and tender, turning once, about 20 minutes total.

I love my baked sweet potatoes. When it comes to fries, I seem content enough to steal one or two from my family and then that is it in fast food restaurants. Now if I could just get my son to not care about that one lousy french fry. *grumble*

You can also bake the fries instead of putting them in grease, that way you have them. Just don't say that you can't have them because then you will want them all the time., So give yourself permission to have them and after a while you will not want them.

I am now positive that I will win my battle with fast food.

It has been over 4 months since I stopped using fast food on a daily basis!

Once I realized the amount of processed and fatty foods I was consuming, I started cooking my own food again using some of the tasty and healthier Sparkpeoplerecipes.com, fresh or frozen vegetables, leaner meats, low fat dairy and fresh fruits!

No More Fast Food!!

Let's do it girls!
