Note to self: Make time for ME

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

I have been absent AGAIN from SP for about a month AND I feel it. The usual reasons:

busy-blah blah blah

the holidays- i love them but...

schedules- lots of travel...MN and all over the state of VA Loudoun county, Charlottesville, Richmond, South Boston

off track - just off

doctors appts- me, my husband, my father, my friend, my chidren
care giver- lots more to this story...stage 4 melanoma family friend

Feeling overwhelmed I decided to dedicate some of MY morning to logging into SP -and seriously hanging out. emoticon I was renewed, recharged, refreshed AND MOTIVATED AGAIN! emoticon

to all who stop by and read my blog- thanks for reading my thoughts!

Its October - the Ghosts are out and my old habits are trying to HAUNT me!

ITS MOVIE NIGHT! OH MY, overflowing bowls of popcorn drenched in gross amounts of butter YES- NO NO NO

When I sat down to watch the the movie I rented "The Heat" I, of course, made a bowl of popcorn. 100 calorie pop secret kettle corn. About 20 minutes into the movie my bowl of popcorn was empty! I thought OH NO what am I going to do? AND, without warning the ghosts of my past reminds me that at the movie theaters you get a HUGE bottomless bucket of popcorn drenched in butter flavored greasy oil!

I obsessed and then went and popped another bag of 100 calorie popcorn!

Im learning everyday and Im succeeding everyday!

As always, thank you Sp and fellow sparkers YOU are all helping me reach my goal of living healthier!

Best of luck to everyone

What a great comparison. Movie theater popcorn is deadly to people on a healthier lifestyle journey (you just can't stop at one handful).

way to go!

This time I know my efforts will work! I am shedding more than pounds already :

My fear to post a picture...I posted a recent picture of myself for my profile pic.

My fear to be completely honest with MYSELF- Until 10-8-13 (back on SP), I have talked myself into thinking I was ok with the way I looked and that this was just what comes with age...I am not ok with the way I look and I am definitely not ok with the way I feel.

My fear of starting a diet in the morning and by the afternoon my standard response was "Ill just start over AGAIN tomorrow"...Now I go to SP and find something to motivate me. Sometimes the motivation is an article but most of the time its fellow sparkers-thank you!

My fear of stepping on the scale daily...Im done hiding from myself. I weigh almost every morning and that keeps me on track.

My fear of noting everything I eat...I log all my foods the good the bad and the ugly.

This time I know my efforts will work!

Your going to do it. Knowing what you have to do and how your going to do it is have the battle. Each day does get easier once you work it into your lifestyle plan.

Sounds like you are making great progress, I love spark articles too, and so many of the motivational quotes, but mostly I love all the support. Good job of working through your fears. emoticon emoticon

Great job on coming back to SP! Motivation abounds here. It needs to be a change of lifestyle, not a "diet". I look at "diet" as a dirty word that brings nothing but fear of failure to everyone. Keep up the good work and good things will follow. emoticon

Yes or No is your decision. Most weight loss happens between the ears. I am on day #71 of my 97 day journey ... longer if necessary before goal weight and maintenance. You can do it!!!!!

Finally posted a picture of myself and its a current one!

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

This was nerve racking for me. I love taking pictures BUT I don't like pictures taken of me. Its just too much work- hiding in the background, a forced smile -awkward because I'm trying to hold my stomach in, positioning myself for the most flattering pose.......EXHAUSTING physically and mentally.

Pictures are a visual history of our life story.
This picture is all me- on the water with my family!
Thank you fellow Spark friends for the confidence to post my picture!

Bravo! I've always been shy about having my picture taken, too. I still haven't worked up the nerve to post one on Spark, even though I've been on here a year. You're a braver soul than I!

We have to change that attitude. We are all beautiful, that is how God created us, we just need to remember that.
