SparkSummary Calendar

Monday, September 03, 2012

I am so excited that today I discovered the SparkSummary Calendar. I know it was there but had never checked it out. I'm glad I clicked on it because I can see the progess from day to day. It's a great motivational tool. Just had to share, I think this is going to give me a boost which I've needed. SparkPeople has so much to offer and I'm so grateful. Sometimes I think I'm on here too long, but it's all worth it. I'm also excercising my brain. emoticon

I love the calendar as well and I don't think a lot of members really know about. Good luck with your continued journey! emoticon

Stationary Bike - Confused

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Started using a rowing stationary bike which is ok but I put on 2 lbs. Skipped one day and lost the 2 lbs. Can anyone with experience of using a stationary bike give me some advice? If I weigh more from doing this in the beginning will I eventually show weight loss in the future? emoticon

Hmmm....not sure the bike is the reason for weight change. Do you do other exercises? If so, your weight may be because you're gaining muscle.

You are converting fat to muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, and will help you to lose weight quicker in the long run.

It's perfectly normal to see a rise on the scale for a few days when you do any new, strenuous exercise. That means you're doing it right!! There was a daily spark blog about it some months ago, I can't find it now but it's out there with all the propper medical explanations if you want to look for it!

I don't know anything about the bike, but I do know that our weight fluctuates daily which is one of the reaons a lot of people say don't weigh every day as it can discourage too easily... it may just be one of those things and not related to the bike at all.

Have a Question.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

I was on stage three of my diet but decided to go back to stage two, since I'm back to work I need to be consistent again. My question is if I consume 1550 calories and exercise say 1 mile and eat an extra 100 calories would I still lose weight?

Appreciate the advice... emoticon

My advice was going to be the same as Myrands. I was given this information just last week.

I cannot say for certain if you will or won't lose weight but here is something that I read that I try to use. If you cut out or burn 500 calories a day for seven days you will have burned 3500 calories. 3500 calories = 1 pound of fat. So if you consume 1550 calories a day, I would try and burn off at least 500 calories. I have fallen in love with Zumba and in a 1 hour session I can burn up to, if not more than, 500 calories. Before, I was was walking on the treadmill for 1 hour at an incline to burn 500 calories. I hope this helps!

Staying Focused

Monday, August 23, 2010

Just want to wish everyone a great new week. Off to work tomorrow and kind of refocusing on SP and trying to stay strong. The first week back has been busy, lots of eating out. Had some good days and some bad. But you know what? I always had SP on my mind and even when food wasn't the best I still had control and ate less and said no without feeling deprived didn't even want the dessert one day when offered. I know it wasn't the best week of eating because I have bloating and that is not a good feeling. But going forward trying to reach my goals.

Keeping the Spark.

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Going back to work next week from my summer vacation (elementary school). I've really been active with SparkPeople through out the days. But now that I'm going back to work you will hear less from me. That sounds scary, looking for any advice on staying strong and motivated. Some things I'm really gonna try to incorporate is going to bed early, pack my lunch, eat healthy, keep up my exercise and stay happy and motivated. Help!

Doesn't the summer fly by! Packing your lunch is the way to go. I pack my dinner for work every day. I always cook so that I have enough for a few meals...works for me. I'm sure every day that you "brown bag it" will put a smile on your face and a pat on the back for taking care of YOU! :)
