This is really nice of you all to do. Unfortunately I can't knit at all and don't crochet very well, but I will see what else I may be able to do.

Any tips for getting faster, Im faster then I used to be but still slow if you know what I mean. Thanks for the links. I promise to follow through with the January challenge. Its one of my New Years resolutions. emoticon

Knitters/Crocheters, If you would like to help the victims families in Sandy Hook

Friday, December 14, 2012

This yarn shop is near the elementary school where the tragedy in Newton happened today. If you would like to send something to help those affected, here is the information for you to donate to

Our hearts are with those lost in today's tragedy in Newtown. To all of the mothers & fathers, brothers & sisters, and the entire community of Sandy Hook, we are thinking of you and stand with you.

This is just in the beginning stages, but we'd like to organize a donation effort for the children of Sandy Hook Elementary School. We'd like to collect KNITTED/CROCHETED STUFFED ANIMALS/TOYS and deliver them to the little ones in Newtown, CT to try to offer comfort during this unimaginably tragic & confusing time.

If you have a pattern, feel free to use it. If you need suggestions, Ravelry has plenty of free patterns. Here is a link

I'm passing on the info to a group here in VA that makes stuff for hospitals, nursing homes, cancer patients, homeless humans and pets. They also made stuff for the families of the victims of the VA Tech shootings.

So much sadness today

Friday, December 14, 2012

Let us pray for the families in Newton CT for the loss of those 20 small innocent children and the 6 adults who were killed in the elementary school

Let us also pray for 22 elementary school chilren in China who were attacked with a knife today and wounded.

And let us not forgot those who were killed and wounded in the mall shooting earlier this week.

Not sure what is going on in this world now, but those sweet inocent children and people should be targets for these adults who have issues within themselves

It is so senseless to have to resort to killing. The adults were doing their job looking after their young charges. I can't imagine what set this young man off to go on a killing spree and killing his mom and other adults in the school.
My heart is so for these youngsters especially and their families. The grief they must be going through is unimaginable. The sweet innocence of the remaining children has now been wiped out also as they learn of their friends who have died and are no more. I don't think the full gist of it will truly hit them for a while yet. God have mercy.

Prayers for all the families who lost loved ones this week. I'm another who can barely stand to see it or read it - I cry! There needs to be so much more kindness in the world and concentration on more of how we are alike than of our differences. All the hatred is so very, very sad.

The news gets worse every year. I just dont understand whats happened to the world. Is it the violent video games, movies or tv that has changed some people who do these senseless acts of violence that causes so much pain. The grieving families will be in my prayers.
