What a day

Monday, September 26, 2011

this morning the plumber finally came by and we were in for a huge shock.

We purchased this house in 2005 and each year had issues with the kitchen sink backing up. In order to clear it, it usually had to be snaked from under the house. During these times we only used two companies through the home warranty and one who happened to be at the house doing some work when we added the additional bathroom. That plumber told us our pipes were run incorrectly and wanted to rerun them from the crawlspace into an outside wall and then up to the attic. Another plumber talked us out of that as an unnessary expense.

So last Nov we had the kitchen gutted due to water damage and the contractor had to go under the house to rehook up the plumbing to the kitchen.

So today we find out that the pipes are run and are sagging causing the stoppage in the lines. Cost to fix it is 875.00. DAMN. So after talking to the plumber hubby sees the problem and goes out to get the materials. Cost 50.00. He got the pipes in and while I am out, he calls me to come home and please start the dishwasher. Yes, you read that right.. My hubby who was an engineering major in college , lead troops through two conflicts and runs million square foot warehouse, can't start the dishwasher.

Tomorrow his first job offer comes in from FL and we can see there will be lots of salary negotiations with this one. We happen to know that if they do not get someone in their quick to save this account it will go to another company.

My Hubby cannot programme any thing electrical, if the TV plays up he has to wait for me to fix it, even though he hugs the remote I never get a chance to get it and he wonders why I go on the conputer a lot.

the best made plans failed

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Today my plan was to go the crafts store to learn how to knit with this new yarn I purchased It is called Starbella and its a ribbon type yarn where you knit through the loops. I am having a hard time with it especially on the cast on.

Demo was from 1 to 4 today. At 1130 a very close friend we have not seen in years called to say he was dropping by around 2, would be staying an hour and then heading back to DC. Instead he did not make it until close to 330 and left 2 hours later. It was ok. It was nicer talking to him in person than instead of through facebook chat.

So after the plumber comes to unclog the sink, I am off to the store and hopefully one of the instructors I know is there and can help me.

I've seen that yarn mentioned, but I can't knit so I'm no help here. Is this, like most yarns, good for crocheting, too?

It is a beautiful yarn and way easier to use than you think.

fall cleaning saturday

Saturday, September 24, 2011

today was another day where I am not sure where the day went.

I had to return one of the genie bras I got for me (if anyone buys one, buy it a size larger than you normally wear otherwise the sides will roll up on you. returned that, then picked up something for hubby, went to the grocery and back home. I just did not feel like staying out.

Got back and wanted to clean and do laundry but right now as kitchen sink and now dishwasher are backed up and will not be fixed until Monday. So dishes are being washed in the laundry room sink Not doing all of them just enough to survive until the plumber comes.

As of now I can see more floor space but need to eventually find a place to put these while the house is on the market.

I am a good DIL

Thursday, September 22, 2011

today I finally found the Genie Bra It was my mission to track these down for my MIL.

Went to Walmart and they salesperson told me where she got hers and I called over. I called and when they said they had the size my mother in law needed, I drove the 20 miles and got them.

They had DOZENS of them Why can't other places around here get even 25 percent of what they did.

Tomorrow they head to MD to my mother in law
