After my posted my blog yesterday, things did a 180.
I began to think my problem was not with the pipes but with the garbage disposal since all that snaking resulted in nothing. Mentioned this to a neighbor. She had a call into her plumber (who is also a hunter to remove a dead flying squireel that was caught in her chimney) and he was luckily in the area and at my house within 5 minutes. He did some evaluation, poured down a bottle of industrial drainer, then put the drain covers on to give a bit of suction and left for two hours.
During that time, I ran over to my husbands office to pick up a check and headed back. I now called the contractor who was going to give me the lowest labor (and fairest) and asked him to come over and inventory the lumber in my garage to rebuild the sunroom. I will see him in the next few days.
The plumber came back, opened the trap again and fixed it and then turned on the garbage disposal. SUCCESS... The water was not backing up anymore.
As this is going on the guy who was installing my dishwasher and we had rescheduled it for Monday (telling him the plumber would not be at my house until Thursday calls) and asks for an update. I am thinking.. first today is not Thursday.. I said that I got lucky and another plumber was here and jst finished as we were talking. Get this... "Well, I will TRY and fit you in today ... ok" Sure.
Give me one hour to be there.
In the meantime, I called the other plumber to cancel out and let him know the problem was fixed and to please let me know how much I owed him for those 2 hours on Tuesday.
Then my lunch plans changed when she had to go to take her Mom to the doctor and grocery shopping. Which was fine since I was now waiting for the dishwasher guy.
First plumber calls and says no charge for the 2 hours. YEAH.
Its now 2 1/2 hours later and the dishwasher guy finally shows up. He parts his truck behind my sons car. About 30 minutes into the install, my son is getting ready to leave and the installer is on this way out to the truck. I ask if he could please move his truck and part behind the red car so the black one could get out.
""WHy can't he drive the red one"
Because its MY car and I want him to drive his own car..
" So you want me to park behind the red one... is that what you are saying?
Yes, that is what I am saying.
So he moves the truck, my son leaves. My friend calls back and decides to put off our lunch because it is pouring rain and also Mom has tired her out. No problem, I do understand that.
90 minutes later the dishwasher is installed. This I still do not understand. He turns on the hot water, then opens a bottle of the jet dry rinse agent, pours it into the dishwasher, closes the bottle, then turns off the hot water. Is there a connection I am missing here?
So today, I am returning things to under the sink, washing floors counters, and cabinenets and taking out the trash for tomorrow. Scrubbing is a good thing.
