"Don't just count your years, make your years count"-Ernest Meyers

" What matters most in life is often viewed as peripheral to the things that we usually focus on...by putting off what is truly important or indulging in things that are not. It's time to start meditating on life now, and make it better by reshuffling priorities for this next year. I will spend time with friends and family, taking care of my body and health by eating well and exercising regularly, and offer to help others. Discovering what matters most will make my daily life a true reflection of my ideas, beliefs and attitudes."

Have a Happy Birthday...from Team Spark People

Happy Birthday, Criss! Thank you for adding me as a Spark Friend and nominating me as an Overall Motivator! That is really special to me! We don't seem to be on any of the same Spark Teams. How did you come to find me?

I'm very inspired by all the weight you've lost and your positive attitude. Thank you!

Woo hoo! Sticking with the Spark is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself!

Another habit I've enjoyed is going to RealAge.com each birthday to see how much YOUNGER I've grown during the past year due to my healthy lifestyle changes.

MET my Weight Goal !!!

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

The Diet Center informed me today that they cannot allow me to safely lose any more weight. They said their computer will not allow me to go down any further than 124 pounds, given my bone structure and BMI calculations. They are going to take my picture on Friday, and start my 6 week Stabalization process which intails a new book of menus. After 6 weeks, I will begin their Maintenence Program which guarantees that I will maintain that weight for 1 year. This is included in the sign-up fees.

Altogether, it will have been 20-21 months for 80 pounds of permanent & safe weight removal, and diet and exercise rehabilitation. : ) criss

Congratulations to you!!! I've never had a weight problem in my life, and have pretty much always eaten what I wanted when I wanted. That is, until I developed hypothyroidism... Now I find it ridiculously hard to lose weight. Your success is both an inspiration and motivation for me! If you can do it, I can too!!!
Much kudos to you and well wishes as you maintain. emoticon

OMG! I'm hoping you have quite the healthy celebration / rewards in mind for yourself!!

Of course the BEST reward is the wonderful good health you've fought for! No corporation owns YOUR body...woo hoo!!

Those last pounds are SOOOO darned stubborn, too! Been struggling with that myself...but there is no choice...have to stay the course, how could ANYONE turn back after accomplishing what we have?!?! :-)

The body; a mind of its own

Sunday, June 08, 2008

My body has its own mind, very different from mine. I tell it to loose inches around its middle, but, oh no, instead it looses inches around the chest and arms!

Knowing that crunches won't remove the middle fat, I ask it by doing extra minutes on the eliptical, pushing 600 to 1000 calories away, but, the body answers, no way!

How do I convince this body of mine to cooperate with the rest? I'm getting tired of this fight, but there's no choice until I end up the ultimate winner!

I concede defeat. I focus on the places that are changing. Inches are coming from my middle as well. I'm losing inches all over.

You wont. I hav been tryiong to convince my body that I lost enough on my arms and legs and that's time to take it from my middle. It refuses. Even the worst threats wont work ... If you find a way give us all a howler

My Secret Weapon

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

I've dropped 128 inches, and from 212 to 124 pounds, in 9 months...and am not done yet~! It's not easy at any stage, but I know it can be done, because it's possible! My new secret weapon is yogurt. I hate yogurt, but caught the cold/flu, and everything tasted like vinegar, so to relieve my hunger pains, I downed a few teaspoons of yogurt every couple of hours, and ended up losing 5 lbs in 2 weeks! I think it kept me from thinking about sugary chocolatey junk, and I kept my focus on teas, soups and healthy choices. Hope this helps.... criss

* **Note from SP***

Beans: Secret Weapon Ingredient:

Ahem...allow us to introduce to you one of many Secret Weapon Ingredients. And what, you might ask, are Secret Weapon Ingredients? They are versatile foods that are perfect for mixing into many recipes and dishes and provide a nutritional punch to any meal. They are easy and convenient, and their health benefits are numerous. Do you have trouble making your kids eat healthy foods? Sneak these into their meals and their bodies will be grateful.

These little guys are a major source of soluble fiber, which keeps the digestive tract moving efficiently and therefore allowing it to absorb nutrients more effectively. Fiber also lowers bad cholesterol levels in the blood. How can you use beans? Replace fatty meat with low-fat beans in some of your recipes. They will make you feel full, so you're less likely to overeat. Add them to salad or soups. For a simple dinner idea, mix beans with brown rice or whole wheat pasta.

I Love this Life !!!

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

I felt Liberated and Free for a moment in time. Yesterday, May 19th, 2008, I ran 25 yards for the FIRST time in 4 years!

The doctors said I would never be able to go for walks again, let alone RUN! Today I'm taking massive amounts of Ibuprophen to stifle the pain, but it is a happy pain to know I can lift my foot off the ground.

Now I will baby the thing back to relative painlessness, and I hope to try it again next week!

I Defied all the Odds...I Love this Life !!!
