I'm Back! Well, Sort Of~

Saturday, November 02, 2013

So I haven't been blogging for awhile. I'm still working out, eating well and life's continuing, it's just that I got lazy. Yup, no other explanation than that! I've actually detached myself from everything electronic for a good bit. Felt good! I'm still kind of in the detachment mode but thought I would pop in and share some things that are going on!

My boys had an absolute blast for Halloween. My youngest kept saying that it was his best day ever. :) Now mind you, for the 5 years he has been alive, so far he has had 8 best days ever apparently (they all fall either on a holiday or his bday..) This is what they were for Halloween.

Friday, I finally received my Polar Loop! I've been wearing it all day today and I have to say, I like it! There are some things that I don't like, but overall, I'm quite pleased. I used my heart rate monitor this morning with my workout and the loop and the monitor worked beautifully together. Love seeing my actual burn rather than an estimated burn. My goal for the next 2 weeks is to burn at least 2000-2500 calories total (that's an all day burn and not an exercise only burn) and get in 1800 - 2000 calories. I'll also aim to get in at least 10,000 steps minimum.

I love the fact that the loop is waterproof and you can actually wear it in the shower if you want to. Plus, you never have to worry about it getting washed accidentally cause you wear it on your wrist. I have fairly small wrists but the loop fits just fine on my wrist. And with the sleep tracking capability, it shows that I have slept 7 hrs and 24 mins last night which is pretty accurate. I missed tracking things when my FitBit broke but now I can get back to counting steps and calories burned!

Can't believe it's November already. Remember this Sunday is Daylight Savings time so set your clocks back an hour! Hope everyone has a beautiful, fun weekend!

Thanks. I am considering a Polar Loop. I like to get into the pool, as well as walk, bike and do other exercises the FitBit does not monitor. Do you still like it?

I guess I understand your unplugging but I've missed your blogs. I'm happy that you've been keeping up with your healthy lifestyle even if you haven't been telling us about it. LOL about your youngest!! The simplicity of youth!! emoticon I'm happy that your Polar Loop is working for you. It sounds cool. Your weekly goals sound good & they sound TOTALLY achievable for you. emoticon emoticon

Hey, if it's one thing I understand it's letting go of all the being logged in and online all the time. I let go and feel soooo much better. You need to unplug and then you understand how much more you can relax. Keep focused and good luck. I've been working on trying to get 10,000 steps a day and it is hard. I average around 7,000 and 8,000 a day but when I make it to 10,000 or better Whoo Hooo. Great costumes!

Strength and Running

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

This morning I did T25's Rip'T Circuit and an interval run. I missed Rip'T Circuit. It's fun, short, and effective. Even with my head still congested I was able to get in a good workout. With the interval run, I did 10 rounds this time. I like interval runs cause they're short but intense. That's why I like HIITs and T25. :)

This morning I also tried E&E (energy and endurance) powder from Beachbody for the first time. I started w/ one scoops and I have to say, didn't really feel much of anything so tomorrow morning I will try 1 1/2 scoops and see how that goes. I've never really tried preworkout supplements before so I'm testing them out now to see if it gives me an extra push in my workouts.

Tonight I have a den meeting so will be baking oreo stuffed cookies for the boys. Boys meaning the scouts and for my husband to take to work. :P I do enjoy baking. Although my presentation is not great, at least the taste is there. emoticon

Today's menu:

#1 Vegan chocolate Shakeology w/ coconut water
#2 Quest Bar
#3 Orange marmalade and peanut butter sandwich w/ corn chips and salsa
#4 Chicken breast cooked on grill w/ homemade stuffing and green beans
#5 Chocolate Shakeology w/ banana

I'm interested to hear how you like the E&E with a larger portion. I tried E-Boost (Jillian Michael's recommended it in her book) but didn't notice much difference... It was supposed to be a natural supplement, has a lot of B-vitamins. Mio Energy (the liquid drops for water) give me energy during a workout, but I know it's not the best for me, so I'm looking for some alternatives emoticon

Can I just say that your daily workouts are inspirational!!! emoticon Those baked oreo stuffed cookies sound tasty. How are the calories?

It's good that you enjoy baking and you can always get better with the presentation, the taste is most important anyway. emoticon emoticon

What are these oreo stuffed cookies you speak of? Always looking for new things to bake. Haven't made anything in awhile, but, now with my daughter's birthday nest week and the holidays coming up, my oven will be in use again!!!

Have a wonderful day!! emoticon

TF HIIT and Yoga~

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

This morning's workout was TF HIIT 25 and yoga. Nice combination. Get my heart rate up and then bring it back down with some zen. :) However, I will say today my coordination and flexibility is not all there. I have this annoying sinus congestion which affected my yoga, but still got through the moves.

Yesterday I placed my order in again for Bountiful Baskets and I can't wait to see what I get this time! Also ordered 2 basketball size pumpkins and an order of bread (5 loaves to be exact). Saturday can't come soon enough! With the pumpkins, we'll do our carving and use then bake the seeds. Can't wait. So far, this is what we have for our Halloween decoration.

We also have a frankenstein which is the green deflated thing in the back. :P

Today's menu:

#1 Chocolate Shakeology
#2 Chef Salad
#3 Turkey rollup w/ cranberry dressing
#4 Pork chops w/ baked asparagus and mashed potatoes
#5 Greenberry Shakeology w/ pomegranate

Some Shaun T and Running

Monday, October 21, 2013

As the weather gets colder, it becomes harder to get out of bed in the morning to workout. The warm bed is so tempting to stay in. However, somehow I managed to roll out of bed to get my workout in. This morning I did Insanity Core Cardio Balance and a 5 mile run. I love Core Cardio Balance cause it works you but it's not super hard. Plus, the thigh and shoulder burners at the end is fun for me. :P Afterwards, I ran w/ a friend for 5 miles. It was a nice slow run. I found out that if I can run while holding a conversation, that's about a 10 - 10:30 pace. If I'm gasping for air every 5 words or so, that's about a 9 min pace. So as long as I have a running buddy, I can determine my pace w/o a device lol. Overall, another good workout day.

I can't believe next week is the end of October. Where has the time gone? Between now and next Thursday, got lots of activities planned for the kids and meet ups w/ friends. So much to do, so little time! Yesterday, my husband and the kids finally setup the yard for Halloween. We are kind of late, but better late than never, right?

Anyhoo, gotta run so this will be a short post. Today's menu is:

#1 Chocolate Shakeology
#2 Quest Bar
#3 Tuna salad on wheat bread w/ tomato & cucumber salad w/ balsamic vinegar and fresh basil
#4 Ham w/ apricot & horseradish glaze, cheesy mashed potatoes, and green beans
#5 Greenberry Shakeology w/ grapes

Gadgets are not necessary all the time. It's good that you have other non-gadget way to measure your speed.

Just resumed Insanity today.

Awesome! I wish I could do a 10-10:30 pace, but I'm content with my 11:30-12:00 pace during my long runs. You are such an inspiration to me with your workouts as well as your meal plans. I'm going to have to try that tomato & cucumber salad with balsamic vinegar & fresh basil. Keep inspiring Sister!

Back to Routine

Sunday, October 20, 2013

I'm back home now from my friend's wedding. Had a wonderful time. Met up with some friends that I haven't seen since high school and had a great time getting ready with the girls. The dreaded dance was pretty much as bad as I thought it was going to be lol. Wasn't prepared whatsoever so for the 15 secs our song played. My partner and I kind of awkwardly danced and then went to our table. The song was actually supposed to be longer but my groomsmen and I just kind of left so the DJ had no choice but to move on to the next song. emoticon I had a glass of wine prior to, but yeah, that didn't help any. Didn't get to take a lot of pictures cause I didn't have my phone w/ me all the time. My husband said I'm going to get kicked out of the Asian club cause I'm bad w/ taking pictures lol. :P Here is one pic I remembered to take after getting all dressed up. The dress (which you can't really see in the picture) fit looser compared to when I tried it on last month which is awesome! Well, not so much for last night but overall cause it shows some progress I have been making. I think nonscale victories are the best. :)

Overall, great time was had but I'm glad to be back home! This morning I woke up and did P57 Full Body Express and yoga. Great combo!

My eating yesterday wasn't all that bad. Ate well all the way up to dinner, and actually the only "bad" thing I had was 2 glasses of wine and a piece of cake which I didn't finish. I also concluded last night that I really don't like to drink. My body processes alcohol weirdly in that I can get buzzed, drunk and then hungover all w/in 1 hr. So with 2 glasses of white wine I got buzzed (which wasn't bad), didn't really get drunk but definitely got a headache afterwards. Yeah, not worth it. Plus, I get really really red after 1 glass of anything so that's never a good look. My hubby thinks I'm allergic to alcohol which may be true!

Today's menu is:

#1 Chocolate Shakeology w/ banana
#2 Peanut butter w/ apples and celery
#3 Oxtail soup w/ rice
#4 Marinated ribeye steak w/ mixed veggies and rice
#5 Tropical Shakeology w/ coconut water and pineapple
