Feeling a bit deflated today. It's my Mom's birthday. She would have been 63 but she passed away after a long bout with cancer in 2008.
I still have my personal trainer scheduled for this afternoon. She'd be proud i'm trying to improve myself and be healthy. Plus maybe I could work off some of these emotional blahs I'm feeling.
Short blog, but not feeling very chatty. I'll snap out of it, the LAST thing she would want was for me to be glum.
Happy Birthday Mom

So I tried spinning back in the day. I heard so many people ooooh-ing and ahhhh-ing and singing the praises of the Church of Spin.
I hated it.
First of all, those seats, can they MAKE them any more uncomfortable? But regardless, I don't get the point of a class devoted to a glorified exercise bike. I can very well sashay myself over to any of their 1283792137 exercise bikes, hop on, put in and follow a good alpine or interval program or such with music THAT I CHOOSE (hence... sure to like.) and burn just as much calories. So I cast spinning off to "Exile Island" never to be seen on my calendar schedule again.
Well as of today Spinning, you have a new friend in the land of misfit classes... Step-Aerobics.
It was "SUPPOSED" to be my very-most-favorite "Kickboxing" class... but (understandably) our instructor had to take the day off to see her daughter to college - ok thats cool, no problemo.
The gym apparently put out a bat-signal for "Any Cardio" instructor to substitue and do "whatever".
And the Step-Aerobics instructor filled the slot.
Now nothing against her, I remember back in the day when I used to bartend, life steps in and you scramble to fill a shift, it was REALLY NICE of her to substitute for the regular instructor, and appreciate she came and all...
Step-Aerobics was..... not fun.
I just didn't like it.
I do give myself a pat on the back for staying and sticking thru it (and the Abs class afterwards) but note to self, don't bother arranging schedules to fit that kind of class in. And appreciate when I am back to Thursday kickboxing next week.!!!

Well the 'accidental color coordination' for my gym classes is still going strong... yesterday was a "Light Purple" day.... I put on my lilac shirt and go to the gym, and lo - half the class is in light purples. Too funny. :P I need to find the memo as to what colors to wear today! ;)
Today is my 'lots of time at the gym' day - morning is yoga and evening is zumba!
I feel a little bad about going to yoga this morning, this is our instructors last day - apparently she is moving to a studio because a student at the gym complained when she told them to take it down a notch, apparently they were overdoing it or something and she didnt want the others in the class to 'copy', the student went to management and apparently the instructor got chewed out... she's a bit sad to leave (actually was tearing up last week when telling us)... so i'm a little wary that it'll be sad to say bye (she's a really nice person) but i still want to get my yoga in so i don't want to skip to avoid all that... still.... meh. :(
Ah well, going to go there and try to keep positive (and not commit to following to any studio lest it be mentioned). I just feel kinda bad for her, I get the impression that our gyms management is pretty hard on the instructors in general. It's such a great gym in that it's facilities & equipment are awesome and classes are amazing... but I kind dislike how much of a "Corporation" it is, very cold & aggressive in that sense. The individual instructors and trainers are great people, but the gym itself.... very corporate. Ahh well what can you do, I do like the gym - you just can't beat all it's amenities. Plus it's making me skinnier. :P

It's funny, the past few days at the gym in our classes, it seems that half the class called each other up beforehand to color coordinate. I'll walk in with a green shirt and see half the class likewise in green. The next day we're all in red. The next day we're all in gray.
*wonders what the color of the day is*
I don't know why I find this so amusing but it is!
Anyways, after yesterday, I am hoping all the bad drivers are off the road. I swear while driving to the gym everyone was seeming to mistake the "Speed Limit 45" as a "Speed Limit 25" sign. And it wasn't particularly congested or anything... just... everyone was driving Miss. Daisy - actually I think Miss. Daisy was the one behind the wheel!
This got me to thinking. As I was staring at a bmw that was thoroughly ticking me off (and of course I didn't have a way around) that there should be tests. Because i kept thinking "Dude if you are going to have a bmw you should know how to freakin drive it." And I remembered I have a friend in NY that likewise has a beemer, and without kidding she gets into a fender bender almost every other month like clockwork. I'm staring to equate those cars with 'bad drivers', when really they are nice cars! So hence this test idea - how you do on the tests decides what kind of car you drive.
If you take the test and come out as a crappy driver, you get a bad car. Average gets average. If you're damn good, you're awarded a lexus or bmw. If you are FABULOUS roll out the ferraris and lamborghinis. But the point is, this way if you see something crappy on the road... you know not to get behind them, to go and follow the mercedes....
Eh anyways, just some ramblings. Need to start to get ready for my Urban Iron class now! My aches are 90% gone, maybe 95%, so lifting shouldn't be too much of a problem once I get warmed up... time to work on some new aches - rawr!! :P
