sugar reduction progress

These past few days I have been really trying to reduce my sugar intake. This includes artificial sweeteners (they make my tum hurt) and all things sugar related. Whole fruit is the exception.

I'm happy to say things are going very well. I have been having black coffee, finding alternatives for oatmeal additions, and saying no to jam on toast.

I've been exploring various blogs/websites that are focused on the sugar-free lifestyle. Spoon Full of Sugar Free and the Spunky Coconut are two really good sites I've found thus far.

Today was my first day using Mark Lauren's body weight program. I have doing bodyrock for a while now, and was interested in reading his book after seeing Zuzana post about it in one of her old entries. I've been inspired to create my own workouts after reflecting on the awesome variety that her workouts seem to have. It's not always 30/10 intervals of 4 different exercises... she has themes, varying styles, challenges, etc. Now that she's left bodyrock (and the community has been dieing out a little, or so it seems...), I feel responsible for creating my own workouts that are similar to hers.

I love this book :) The idea of doing push/pull exercises is great and today I did just that. 30/10 of 6 exercises... repeated 4 times
chair pushups
let me ups
3-part-ab routine (3=1 rep)
half dive bombers
let me ups
3-part abs

My upper body strength is well... lacking, to say the least. I was thoroughly fatigued by the third round. But I "stayed the course" and boy, do I feel pooped. When I feel like I need to quit I start imagining myself in a climbing group and having a grand ol' time. Maybe someday... :)
