Week 8 of Wii Fit Challenge and giving up chips but......

Thursday, March 10, 2011

I am not loosing any weight. I don't drink pops, only water. It's been about 6 months since I kicked them to the curb. I am exercising at least 20 minutes or more 5 days a week. My glucose readings are under 150 every morning, my blood pressure was almost normal when I went to the doctor yesterday but I have only dropped 2lbs since my last visit 3 months ago. What is wrong? I am not good at tracking my foods. I don't always have the caloric information of every food that I eat and I don't feel the tracker is always right because of the servings it lists. 1 gram of this or that, who eats 1 gram and most measuring cups are based on 1/2 cups or 2/3 cups not grams. Spoons measure 1tsp or 1TP. This is confusing. I have my days when I eat very good and then some days I am a picky eater and I want what I want. I like eating my veggies and fruits. I don't do well with milk and I enjoy having almond milk. Yesterday I ate one Kelloggs Fiber Plus Antioxidants bar and the gas was rolling around my rib cage and coming out the other end!! Whew! Increase the "fiber" LAWD!! I can't stand the pain or the noise.LOL.
I want to join the Diabetics 8 week challenge but I am afraid that I may not get any results and will be truly ready to give up on me. Please help someone. I will appreciate some true suggestions. I appreciate the motivation and the encouragement but right now I need a solution from someone who knows what it's like to have this problem. Thank you everyone in advance.

My suggestions to help you are to buy a scale that weighs in gms. It helped me. And to up your exercise to at least and hour minimum every day.

I dont have a solution for you, but in my humble opinion, it sounds as though you are doing everything right and may have just hit a plateau or something

dont be discouraged, maybe try to change around your exercises a little

it seems to work for many around here, and I am trying it now too as I have plateaued I think.

keep up the work and effort, it will be worth it in the end!!!!

Day 12 and still no chips

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet. Still counting down and keeping track of the chip craving. I bought some Doritos because my son likes to have nachos and I just worked passed them when I was fixing dinner. He has noticed me not eating them too. Things are going well. I will see how big a difference it makes when I go see my doctor in March.
Have a good day!

Day 6 without chips

Thursday, February 17, 2011

I just finished eating a really healthy lunch and it was very tasty. I ate a small piece of a pork chop, some string beans and a side salad. Things are looking good for the week, it's Thursday and my cravings for chips have gone away. Saturday is my cousin's baby shower and it will be at a pizza parlor. Now I'm in Chicago and we are going to Beggar's Pizza to have the deep dish. I am ordering a salad as soon as I get in the door so that I will not be eating huge amounts of pizza. I gave up pop 3 months ago so that will not be an issue. My plans will be carried out without any regret and just maybe I will start losing some weight. I worked out on my Wii this morning and I had a -.02 on the balance board scale again for the second day in a row. My official weigh in day is Sunday. I will have a good one since I am keeping up with a routine. And keeping on track.
Have a good one!

You're doing great. And I'm personally glad to see you will be having some pizza. Go onto Spark and find try to plan your food plan for Saturday...find out how you can stay close to your goals despite the deep dish. Lots of fresh fruits (orange and skim milk for breakfast, for example)...celery sticks with peanut butter and an apple for lunch). So that you are "free" to enjoy your time out with friends.

By the way, if you ever get to where you NEED NEED NEED chips, I get a small potato, cut in into thin thin thin slices, sprinkle 2 pinches of (low sodium) salt on one side only, and use a microwave potato-chip dish. I nuke those thin slices for about 5 minutes. Nutritional cost? Exactly the same as a small potato, and 2 pinches of salt! I've found I love these even though there's so little salt.

PLEASE don't make me feel guilty by fixing these while you're on your giving up chips plan. I'm only suggesting this if you are ready to break down and take those awful commercially packaged chips. Hang in there!!!

Day 5 without chips

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

I feel like I am really getting the hang of things. I haven't even thought about those chips except when I needed to write this blog. I have trail mix in my drawer that I bought to work on Monday, if they were chips they would be gone by now. I seem to want a little snack in between breakfast and lunch around 11am so I counted out 10 Kashi multigrain crackers. The serving size is 14 but 10 is enough. Yesterday I ate 10 with a slice of cheese. My coworker are taking me to Macy's for a birthday lunch. I will be eating wisely.
Have a good day. emoticon

Day 4 without chips and Happy Birthday!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Doing very well without my desire for those chips. I got up this morning and I did my Wii Fit challenge. I just realized that this is week 5 of doing 5 days a week. It has really helped me be accountable. In the past, I would join challenges and would never carry them out. And then I would feel really bad about myself. I can't tell you what has changed all of a sudden I just know that I like the change. I even did my strength exercises. My triceps are hurting so I will skip them this evening and have a day of rest but do them tomorrow. I am working up to a 3 week straight of 2 sets of 12 reps 3 days and then I will do 15 reps on the 4th week 3 days. the next step after that will be to do 4 days a week but that may not come until April. Have a great day, I need to get back to work,
