Feeling Groovy!

I felt good all day at work. Now that is a first! I was smiling, taking the time to listen to co-workers, complimenting students, and feeling happy. Now I am asking myself WHY?

-I started the day with the 10 minute Spring Challenge Fitness Workout.
-I tracked my food and walked before and after work.
-I ate a Spark crockpot recipe for dinner. Try the 'Slow Cooker Lasagna.'
-I have lost 25 pounds in the last four months on SparkPeople.
-I am feeling groovy!!!

    You ARE groovy, plain and simple. When I am true to my ideals and live my life according to my own expectations, I feel groovy too. (I think that some crockpot lasagna would make me feel kinda groovy right now too! I'll have to make some substituting zucchini slices for any pasta noodles.)

BMI Victory!

Yea! I made it into the 'Healthy' BMI weight range today! I slipped into the healthy weight range by .4 pound. Thank you Spark People!!!

It really works to follow this new lifestyle. I calculated my BMI weight range easily on Spark. Just type BMI in the search bar at the top of any page. You enter your weight and height and find our if you are obese, over, healthy, or under.

I am so excited...I feel and weigh HEALTHY!!!

Tuesday Trouble

Back to work after Spring Break...and it is not easy. I wore my pedometer today and found out that I am not walking as much at work as I thought I was. I am a teacher who is in my classroom most of the day. I can't leave when I like and spend most of the time sitting. I thought I was walking all over the school...but I found out it is only during my planning time and lunch.

I do walk to the teacher kitchen for water, lunch, and the bathroom. This is a problem to me! I want to walk more, but have students most of the day. I walked more on the weekends and over Spring Break! What do others do at work for exercise? I am trapped in a little room with no space...Help!!!

    Not too many options in the classroom. Our teachers only get 1/2 hour to throw some food in their gullets. Not enough time to fit a walk in. Just hope you have enough energy to do 15 minutes before or after work. If you drive to work, make sure you park in the farthest corner to get some walking in. Good luck. You'll figure it out.

Easter Monday!

I have the day off school for Easter Monday! It is a national holiday in Italy! Everything is closed except for a few cafes and restaurants. We walked around the city today with our son. Everyone was out with their dogs, strollers, and bikes. The sun was shining and I even took my coat off. We went to an American Diner for breakfast which was fun! My son wanted the big burger...I ate half of the Greek Omelet. We walked over an hour and 8,000 steps. I will wear the pedometer to school tomorrow and see how many steps I take in a work day. I am enjoying my new favorite holiday...Easter Monday!!!

Easter EGGcitement!

What a day! My son came for Easter and that makes me so happy!!! My teacher friend joined us too for a healthy SparkRecipe Easter dinner. I made the whole meal from Spark (except for the sweet potato recipe from my husband's grandma). It was delicious!

We started the day with an hour Easter walk. I wore my pedometer, but only got half the steps as yesterday! It is recommended to walk 10,000 steps a day. That is one of my new goals and it takes a lot of walking to reach that number!

Wish I had some jelly beans (they don't sell them in Italy...just lots of chocolate!)
